Floating Fox Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 my god, I've never seen that beforeOnly thing you can do about a crash like that is to build up the earth after the barrier so he doesn't fall so far I think I was watching the race, live, when I was a kid...It personally doesn't look that bad of a crash really, the sounds are horrible though & the way he falls. CART deaths are horrific, Have you seen Moore & Krosnoff's?
Gené and Tonic Posted 13 July 2007 Author Posted 13 July 2007 I've seen Moores, not the other guys though. Another thing for that crash would be to obviously move the barrier back and have a tarmac run-off area. The sand trap just catapulted him into the wall. Worst crash I've ever seen though is Gordon Smileys Absolutely horrific, the only comfort is that he died instantly.....its what happened to his body that is the worst part. Bones turned to dust...eyes forced out of skull into helmet...decapitation. You see the helmet rolling away from the track in slow motion. A video I never hope to see again It's getting graphic in here!
Floating Fox Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 Fck! That is out of this world. I can't even think of a word to describe it. Jeff Krosnoff isn't pretty either..Killed a track marshall as well
Gené and Tonic Posted 13 July 2007 Author Posted 13 July 2007 On a lighter note..here's a good video of Laguna Seca, in particular the corkscrew http://youtube.com/watch?v=L20IPTT_Wg4 Top Gear ftw
AoWW Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 It is Great rideDid you chicken out? that Corkscrew is tame. Haven't ever chickened out of a ride at a theme park, to be honest. The bigger the adrenalin kick, the better in my book! She'd chicken out of the 150mph(?) blind approach to the sudden left right bumpy drop that is the corkscrew at Laguna Seca Common sense and the Rodriguez clip tells me that I probably should!
Gené and Tonic Posted 13 July 2007 Author Posted 13 July 2007 Your probably right there. But I think it's the only death there (well I actually don't know, but I've never heard of any others) If Jeremy Clarkson can do it i'm sure you could
Gené and Tonic Posted 13 July 2007 Author Posted 13 July 2007 Very true. Although James May is the best. He knows he's the coolest. He doesn't brag...just cooly gets on with it
AoWW Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 JC is a legend though! That kinda implies I'm not. Pffftt, if Clarkson can do it, I sure as hell can!
isaidno Posted 17 July 2007 Posted 17 July 2007 Former Indianapolis 500 winner Gil de Ferran has left his role as sporting director of the Honda Formula One team. The Brazilian said he was leaving because the role had not developed in the way he had wanted. De Ferran said: "My decision was not easy. I simply feel that I came to this team to fulfil a particular role and it has not materialised as I had hoped." Honda F1 boss Nick Fry said De Ferran had become "increasingly uncomfortable" in the team. De Ferran, whose decision ends a relationship with Honda stretching back more than 10 years, will pursue unidentified "other opportunities".
isaidno Posted 18 July 2007 Posted 18 July 2007 Markus Winkelhock will make his Grand Prix debut at this weekend's European Grand Prix, the Spyker team confirmed on Wednesday. The deal to replace Christijan Albers, sacked by the team after the British Grand Prix, is a one-off and Spyker are yet to announce plans for the rest of the season. Winkelhock, 27, is the son of the late F1 driver Manfred and he has been a tester for Spyker this year. "Obviously it's a dream come true," said Winkelhock. "I haven't had much time in the car this year but I'm physically and mentally prepared. It's a one-off opportunity at the moment and I will make the most of it." Team boss Colin Kolles added: "I am pleased to be able to reward Markus for his patience and loyalty to the team over the last 18 months with his F1 debut at the Nurburgring. "It's very much a one-off race at the moment as we need some more time to decide who will be Adrian's partner for the rest of the year."
Brainy Posted 18 July 2007 Posted 18 July 2007 On F106, when you load a race it gives you a tips/trivia. One bit of trivia was "Since making it's F1 debut in 1986, the Hungarian Grand Prix has never held a wet grand prix"  (last year)
isaidno Posted 19 July 2007 Posted 19 July 2007 Rubens Barrichello has announced that his Honda contract has been extended through the 2008 season. In a statement on his personal website, the veteran Brazilian said he was confident that his third year at the team would bring better fortune than 2007 had. "I am delighted to confirm that I am staying with Honda for 2008," Barrichello said. link
isaidno Posted 20 July 2007 Posted 20 July 2007 Murray Walkers back. He's doing the commentary on Radio 5, so mute Itv and put Murray on !
Stevosevic Posted 21 July 2007 Posted 21 July 2007 Hamilton has crashed in qualifying today, breaking news, no other news yet.
Brainy Posted 21 July 2007 Posted 21 July 2007 His first major mistake was at Britain in the pit lane, he made a slight mistake at Spain in May. So lets not call this his first mistake of his F1 career. Even the commentators at Britain said he made his first mistake there.
Floating Fox Posted 21 July 2007 Posted 21 July 2007 Bastard of a crash that was. I thought he might have wiplash or something.... Very luck not to have bounced over the tyre wall as he was in the air when it hit the wall! Glad lewis is okay I doubt he'll be able to race tommorow though
lildave3 Posted 21 July 2007 Posted 21 July 2007 Bastard of a crash that was.I thought he might have wiplash or something.... Brainy Posted 21 July 2007 Posted 21 July 2007 Massa took 5th or 6th from the pit lane at Silverstone. Hamilton WON'T be 100 % for the race but it's possible for him to be up there come the end of the race, though I have a feeling Raikkonen will run away with this.
samingram_uk Posted 22 July 2007 Posted 22 July 2007 Its kaos out there. The race is now under a Red flag.
Jay Posted 22 July 2007 Posted 22 July 2007 some crazy weather going on!!! the best fun I have ever had watching a grand prix, total hilarity when they all kept going off on the same corner!! and then they go and stop it!! it's all about entertainment right? and that was bl00dy entertaining!!
samingram_uk Posted 22 July 2007 Posted 22 July 2007 It is good, but looks very dangerous. Some old boy nearly ended up under the tractor
Nick Posted 22 July 2007 Posted 22 July 2007 some crazy weather going on!!!the best fun I have ever had watching a grand prix, total hilarity when they all kept going off on the same corner!! and then they go and stop it!! it's all about entertainment right? and that was bl00dy entertaining!! Damn right, a real joy. Even with full wets its going to be an accident ridden 60 laps...... Great.
Floating Fox Posted 22 July 2007 Posted 22 July 2007 :w00t: that was actually the best start to an F1 race. EVER!
