davieG Posted 25 June 2007 Posted 25 June 2007 Full Barnsley Statement:- STRIKER Daniel Nardiello will not be returning to Barnsley after dramatically and surprisingly turning his back on the Club this afternoon. With the paperwork prepared and awaiting his signature, the 24-year-old striker was due at Oakwell this morning to sign the contract after agreeing the terms of a new two-year deal with the Reds. Reds Chairman Gordon Shepherd arrived at Oakwell this morning and added his signature to the documents, which included all the relevant contracts and Agents Agreements. At 11.00am this morning, Daniel's agent informed the Club that he was just passing Junction 23 on the M1 on his way to Oakwell but progress from the Midlands was slow because of the dreadful weather conditions although he expected to be at Oakwell early in the afternoon to sign. However, at around 2.00pm this afternoon, Reds manager Simon Davey received a telephone call from Daniel in which he was informed that the player was now at Trowell Services on the M1 and would be returning south after agreeing to join Queens Park Rangers. Speaking exclusively to www.barnsleyfc.co.uk, Chairman Gordon Shepherd revealed: "The Club are desperately disappointed at Daniel's late, late decision especially as the deal was all agreed and the paperwork ready on the table for his signature. "We are also very unhappy at assurances given to us by the player that he would only consider leaving Oakwell for a Club closer to his home in the Midlands. "As we had been hoping to announce Daniel's signature this afternoon, we feel that we have no alternative but to inform our supporters of the events and we are sure that they will share our deep disappointment at the way we have been treated today".

They're well shot of him anyway if you ask me.
dandannieldanok Posted 25 June 2007 Posted 25 June 2007 They're well shot of him anyway if you ask me. I agree, he was shite against us both times this season.
Joe. Posted 25 June 2007 Posted 25 June 2007 They're well shot of him anyway if you ask me. I agree, he was shite against us both times this season. But to be fair, he did also score 14 goals last season for a struggling Barnsley.
Finnegan Posted 26 June 2007 Posted 26 June 2007 He's a nob and always has been. Father played for Wales, was courted by Wales for a while and spent ages blatantly hanging it out to see if he'd ever get on the England scene before begrudgingly pinning his colours to our mast. I'm not a fan, tbh, and this just illustrates why.
Nationwider Posted 26 June 2007 Posted 26 June 2007 I could understand it if he'd joined a good club - but QPR? Rubbish. Barnsley is the Brazil of the north as well.
Manwell Pablo Posted 26 June 2007 Posted 26 June 2007 But to be fair, he did also score 14 goals last season for a struggling Barnsley. Nardellio is Crap do not argue. He's elvis with a slightly better finish.
The People's Hero Posted 26 June 2007 Posted 26 June 2007 Nardellio is Crap do not argue. He's elvis with a slightly better finish. Hmmmm. I'd argue he has bags more ability than Elvis with a similar attitude issue. He's never going to be amazing in the Championship though I wouldn't have thought. Very good lower league forward though. I just think comparing him to Elvis is a bit harsh. Elvis is a complete joke.
Lovejoy Posted 27 June 2007 Posted 27 June 2007 I agree, he was shite against us both times this season. From what i saw he was shite against just about everyone else too
