Fox in a Box Posted 29 June 2007 Posted 29 June 2007 The championship is all about getting results as we have found out in the last 2 seasons......... a draw gives you nothing really in this league. CL tried to introduce playing slick football where you pass out of defence into midfield and cross the right ball into the right areas to score ( to be fair he bought some dire players too). Arsey Wengers team does/did this with ease. CL failed big time. Forest always bleet on about 'playing football' 'playing football' 'playing football' MONeill played ugly and got results Micky Adnams or Dave Bassett to be fair played ugly at times and got results.... So what I'm expecting this year is really nothing more than Hoofing the ball into the danger zones and seeing where it gets us, It aint gonna be pretty I can tell you but MA seems to have got the best out of the players he has at the clubs he has been at. So what would you prefer? Sexy football or Long ball ........ I think that given his track record it would be the second and as long is it generates results , confidence and smatters of football would appear. At the end of the day its a results business and I really only care for the result... You?
Kent Fox Posted 29 June 2007 Posted 29 June 2007 Don't care how ugly. Don't care how aggressive. Don't care if it's hoofball or not. Care about winning.
mancunianfox Posted 29 June 2007 Posted 29 June 2007 I don't care about style...I prefer to see honesty and commitment.

Why does it have to be one or the other, I've seen Arsenal, Chelsea, Man U all play 'long balls' What I want is a mix, you play the ball that is appropriate to the the situation, the opposition and the 'urgency' in fact a winning ball, that can be left, right, forwards, yes even backwards, short, medium, long.

Daggers Posted 29 June 2007 Posted 29 June 2007 I want more mince-ball. I want to see balls stuffed with mince and mince to be sold at the counters. Blue and white mince, mince with peas in and mince-free mince for the ladies who like animals (but not in that way). Everyone should wear some mince in their hair for the Blackpool game...I'm going to ask some gipsy women to come and give away lucky mince. Thespians should perform plays about mince at half-time and Mandaric should make a man made from mince his chief executive. I do this without drugs you know.
Fox in a Box Posted 29 June 2007 Author Posted 29 June 2007 ...short ball.............................medium pass..........................................................................long hoof I got that just after i replied.... I prefer triangles myself!

Fox in a Box Posted 29 June 2007 Author Posted 29 June 2007 is there a spagetti option for us who dont like mince?

I think that given his track record it would be the second and as long is it generates results , confidence and smatters of football would appear. At the end of the day its a results business and I really only care for the result... You? All competitive football is about getting results. But professional football is a commercial enterprise and part of the entertainment business. People often say it is only the result that matters and to a point they are right. It is no use continually losing even the most entertaining of matches. And there's no doubt supporters will put up with boring football if they remain at the top of the table. But how is success best achieved?. George Graham turned dour defence into an art form but he was an exception and people seem to remember the means rather than the end which is hardly a legacy to be proud of. But the teams which people remember with affection were the great attacking teams - the Manchester United of Best/Law/Charlton, the Real Madrid of Di Stefano and Gento, the Ajax of Cruyff, the Hungary of Puskas, the Brazil of Pele and many more. To me you'll win nothing without scoring goals - 80-plus a season's what's needed - and if you do that you're pretty well bound to be reasonably entertaining. But entertaining can be many things. MON might have used his stormtroopers but that was a sight to behold. Don Revie's Leeds were passing maestros and the Manchester United of George Best had a wonderful blend of individual artistry and shooting power. But one thing successful sides all seemed to have was an ability to attack in numbers and people in various positions who were capable of scoring goals. Look at MON's Leicester. Sometimes it was like an invasion, especially at set pieces with Walsh, Elliott, Marshall, Heskey and more all posing serious threats. On top of that fans like watching exciting football. They look forward to the games, the atmosphere's improves and that often inspires even better football. Even at City late last season there was no doubting the value of the crowd support. Surely the management's job is to inspire such support. And there's no better way of doing that than attacking in numbers and scoring goals. There is risk to any tactics. But you've no chance of winning if you fail to score, no chance of promotion if you draw too many and every chance of success if you bag two or three goals a game or more. And that's what I'd set out to do every time.
THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 29 June 2007 Posted 29 June 2007 is there a spagetti option for us who dont like mince? No, that simply wouldn't hold due to it's soft consistency, you'd miss half the game with tomato sauce dripping from your eyes and you'd look like a prat
Master Fox Posted 29 June 2007 Posted 29 June 2007 Beanies and top-hats made out of mince would be terrific, just terrific You could cover your body and genitalia with tasty mince meat and stand in the concourse at hlaf time offering an appetising alternative to the kiosk food. People would flock to sample your sumptuous cuisine. As a substitute for the beer you could stand and urinate into peoples mouths for a refreshing thirst quenching beverage. I’m pretty certain it would prove to be quite a popular venture among fans at half time. No need for cueing, enough for all!

SPOT ON exactly! mind you you did miss out the cotteemeister! from the MON time, he was the 6 yrd man that was always sniffing for the scraps... THRAC you have got my point exactly
dandannieldanok Posted 29 June 2007 Posted 29 June 2007 I couldn't care as long as we win, both styles do work if you have the right players. I just hope we don't start thinking long ball is OK now we have Carl Cort. Cort would never stick his head in where it hurts like a Brian Deane or Les Ferdinand have done for us in the past.

Why wouldnt he? From my knowledge he seems to win most balls in the air, ask the Wolves fans.
