I saw him today on my way home from work. He was jogging over trent bridge. Looked like an old man.

Seems like a good deal for Forest tho, still think he could do a job in the Championship

Would have liked to seen him at City.

Thoughts ?

Dont think so!

I definately saw him tonight on my way home from work.

It was all over the Notts Post that he was signing for them.

If Forrest have both Sherringham and Lennon it'll be interesting... either way sounds like if Colchester do unveil him in the next few days, lots of folks in the local press in Nottingham are going to look pretty daft...

From Sky

Teddy Sheringham's agent has told Sky Sports News that the former England international is considering an offer from Colchester United.

The Championship club have called a press conference for 2.30pm on Wednesday when they could present Sheringham to the media.

Reports suggest that the 2001 Footballer of the Year could be in line for a player-coach role at Layer Road after being released by West Ham at the end of the Premier League season.

The former Tottenham and Manchester United star had also been in contact with clubs in America, but his agent Barry Neville has informed Sky Sports News that he is considering the offer put to him by Colchester.

The U's have certainly demonstrated their ambition in targeting Sheringham, and also broke their transfer record twice on Tuesday to bring Clive Platt and Mark Yeates to the club.

Colchester United have broken their transfer record twice in a matter of hours after bringing Mark Yeates and Clive Platt to Layer Road.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Yeates - who spent a spell on loan with Colchester in the 2005/2006 season - was the first to join the Championship club as he broke the club transfer record previously held by the signings of Neil Gregory and Adrian Coote.

Yeates was quickly superseded by Platt though, who has arrived to replace Chris Iwelumo after moving from Milton Keynes for a reported £300,000.

Platt (pictured) scored 18 times in League Two last season and, along with Yeates, will strengthen Geraint Williams' side as the manager looks to build on the club's impressive exploits last season.

Responding to the two record-breaking arrivals, Colchester chief executive Marie Painter told the club's fans to expect further high-profile signings.

"These are the first two signings in what will be a very busy campaign in securing the club's squad for next season's push in the Championship," Painter told the club's official website.

"There is a great deal of exciting news to come."

The club have confirmed that both deals will be completed on Wednesday.

From BBC News website at 7.30pm this evening:

Colchester to unveil Sheringham

Sheringham spent the last three seasons with West Ham

Colchester United have called a news conference for 1430 BST on Wednesday at which they are expected to unveil ex-England striker Teddy Sheringham.

The 41-year-old is a free agent after leaving West Ham United, and BBC Essex understands that he is set to join the Championship club as player-coach.

Chairman Peter Heard revealed earlier that the U's had held talks with Sheringham over a move to Layer Road.

They have been without an assistant manager since Mick Harford joined QPR.

Sheringham, who has scored 273 league goals in 715 appearances for seven clubs, was awarded an MBE in the recent Queen's Biirthday Honours list.

More recently, his agent Barry Neville had quashed reports linking him with a move to League One side Bournemouth.

He said the striker had held talks with teams in the United States of America and other countries.

If these are the type of signings Colchester are going to make I think they will struggle next season.

We have all seen what Yeats was like.

I think Sherringham will lose his appetite when he gets clattered on a regular basis just for the fun of it - a kinda welcome to the Championship!!

Sheringham's squad number will be a preset in the assistant ref's electronic board this season!

This is why we don't listen to Bold Fox.

I was only stating that i saw Teddy Sherringham on my way home from work, and that it was rumoured that he may be on his way to Forest.

No need to be such a smart arse all the time is there Manwell.

Yeah, but it was more likely Glen Smith from Clifton, who likes a bit like former Forest Spurs and Manchester United hitman Teddy Sherringham wasn't it.

lol at Sherringham. He is way too old and Colchester can have him with my blessing! We want experienced quality players not players who were good in 1997.
