City Fan Posted 6 July 2007 Posted 6 July 2007 http://www.westerndailypress.co.uk/display...;pNodeId=145803 Yeovil Town duo Arron Davies and Chris Cohen are set to join Nottingham Forest today for a combined fee of £1 million. The pair held talks after Forest saw off competition from Championship club Leicester City. The Daily Press understands Cohen and Davies also held discussions with Foxes boss Martin Allen this week before the League One side tabled a late bid and the offer of better personal terms. Both are believed to be due in Nottingham today for routine medicals. Forest boss Colin Calderwood is a big admirer of the pair and was linked with a double swoop earlier in the summer. While the deal will provide a massive financial windfall for the Glovers, both players are thought to have significant sell-on clauses in their existing contracts.

Manwell Pablo Posted 6 July 2007 Posted 6 July 2007 http://www.westerndailypress.co.uk/display...;pNodeId=145803 If they don't go up this season something is seriously wrong. Their team would arguable get top half in this division.

chili_con_carne Posted 6 July 2007 Posted 6 July 2007 Good - i've never even heard of them and we need to be signing players who have played at this level at least. Im glad we havn't wasted a million quid on a few league 1 players. Still at least we're finally spending money not getting in old players on frees

Fez of Mahrez Posted 6 July 2007 Posted 6 July 2007 F**king hell. Bastards. These would have been great signings. Better personal terms?! What the f**k! Mercenaries!!!!!!!!
Lester LXXIV Posted 6 July 2007 Posted 6 July 2007 F**king hell. Bastards. These would have been great signings. Better personal terms?! What the f**k!Mercenaries!!!!!!!! Maybe they were guaranteed first team football at F#@*st whereas we were only offering them squad status?
Fez of Mahrez Posted 6 July 2007 Posted 6 July 2007 Maybe they were guaranteed first team football at F#@*st whereas we were only offering them squad status? Regardless, still shows a lack of ambition.
Lord Nibblington Posted 6 July 2007 Posted 6 July 2007 Yay. This is clearly going to start much wailing and gnashing of teeth. Gnash.
dandannieldanok Posted 6 July 2007 Posted 6 July 2007 Regardless, still shows a lack of ambition. Worryingly true, I'm not fussed if we lose out to teams in this league but Forest???
Manwell Pablo Posted 6 July 2007 Posted 6 July 2007 Worryingly true, I'm not fussed if we lose out to teams in this league but Forest??? They're still a big club.
Ric Flair Posted 6 July 2007 Posted 6 July 2007 I'm pretty gutted actually!!! Both would have been class here, how on earth have we missed out?
Gené and Tonic Posted 6 July 2007 Posted 6 July 2007 Its either fabricated or very worrying. Firstly, are we that unattractive that we get beat to players by a League 1 side. And can we still not offer better personal terms than a team like Forest?! The only explaination is that they must have offered them solid first team football.

We may not of WANTED to offer to young League One players a big wage, maybe Forest did. They're are plenty of potential reasons. Just like they're could be a number of reasons for Kaabi coming here instead of going to Wigan.
davieG Posted 6 July 2007 Posted 6 July 2007 It could just be bullshit after all half the players we've signed we've beaten off Premier teams - Kaebi four of them
Geo V Posted 6 July 2007 Posted 6 July 2007 I cant see Forest tempting these lads ahead of us. I think it may be more likely that we havent followed up initial interest or had other players in mind. I`d be surprised if a footballer wants to play in the old 3rd division unless they were worried about not starting many games for us.
Manwell Pablo Posted 6 July 2007 Posted 6 July 2007 What position do they play then? Cohen can play LB and left wing and in the centre of midfield if needed, he's predominatley left sided. I think Aarond Davis is a Right winger/striker sort of player.
sdb Posted 6 July 2007 Posted 6 July 2007 bizzare. Cohen's a good player, shame we've missed out if we did make any concrete offer
Sir Fynwy Posted 6 July 2007 Posted 6 July 2007 Maybe we only wanted to sign them as squad players and had set a limit on what we'd pay, if the price goes over your limit you should pull out of an auction. Looks like we might have forced the lot up the road to pay more than they wanted, that'll probably limit other signings that they wanted.
potter3 Posted 6 July 2007 Posted 6 July 2007 Don't think we were really interested. Pity, I would have liked Cohen here, although I've never seen Davies, but I thought he was meant to be pretty good...
Ric Flair Posted 6 July 2007 Posted 6 July 2007 Cohen is the one that i'd have loved here. We need him as well. Davies although is very good, we're likely to go all out to get Hendrie and therefore Davies wouldn't really be required for first choice. Cohen at left back or left midfield would be quality though. Infact as a left wing back with K'aebi at right wing back would be lethal in this league. It would give us the option of then playing 3 centre halves and 3 central midfielders, perfect. Cohen must only be costing about £400-500,000 as well. Peanuts for such a talented youngster.
Milky Posted 6 July 2007 Posted 6 July 2007 How does everyone know so much about these players? I've only seen the play-offs and championship highlights, and from that it's hard to know exactly how good they are.

Davies, I only know from bits and pieces last season.
