adz Posted 14 February 2005 Posted 14 February 2005 would you like darren moore looks like he'll be leaving westbrom link
Jonbluefox9 Posted 14 February 2005 Posted 14 February 2005 I think he's 30 nearly 31 years old which isn't bad as we'll need some experience at the back next season with, hopefully, Dabizas and Dublin leaving. He would be a good player at this level but I'm not sure how quick he is. Having said that, Elliott and Taggart weren't very fast when we were promoted but they dealt with players like Yakubu and Harewood. The problem was they were both caught out once we were promoted again and both went out on loan at some stage to a Division 1 club. Both were older than Moore at the time though.
shen Posted 14 February 2005 Posted 14 February 2005 Gaardsøe's contract is up in the summer as well and he cost WBA £3 mil 2 seasons ago! He admits that it's unlikely he'll get a new contract, and I remember him scoring quite a few during his time at Ipsiwch
Jonbluefox9 Posted 14 February 2005 Posted 14 February 2005 He scored against us at least once for Ipswich on Boxing day at Filbert Way. He looked like a safe defender on Saturday against Spurs and he always impressed me when I saw him for Ipswich. Do you know anything about Martin Albrechtsen too? I know he isn't up for sale but they paid a bit for him.

He was one of the better defenders in the Danish league, but I don't think he's good enough for the Prem. He's young though, and might develop a bit yet. But the fact he doesn't make the national team (even with the horrendous flurry of injuries to central defenders of late) tells it's own tale...
Jonbluefox9 Posted 14 February 2005 Posted 14 February 2005 How long have you lived in Denmark out of interest? I can't say I know much about Danish football or the national team. I know Gravesen and a couple of years back Tofting at Bolton. Who are the national team's stars apart from Gravesen (I presume)? Has Ebbe Sand retired now as he was rated highly a few years back? Nearly forgot about Helveg at Norwich. He's not really done much for them though.
Ric Flair Posted 14 February 2005 Posted 14 February 2005 I used to be a big fan of Mads Jorgensen and Simon Karkov on CM 99/00

Born and raised in Belgium I would say our 'stars' are Gravesen (obviously), Grønkjær and Martin Laursen but the real hero is Jon Dahl Tomasson. He's been ever so vital for us. Ebbe Sand retired after Euro 2004, but continues to play for Schalke. He's had a poor last few years, but even if he only scored once during his last 18 months for Denmark, it was pretty obvious that there was a void to fill after he left.
shen Posted 14 February 2005 Posted 14 February 2005 I used to be a big fan of Mads Jorgensen and Simon Karkov on CM 99/00 66529 Hehe, they're both crap Although Mads Jørgensen (little brother of more famous Martin Jørgensen) has had limited success playing for Stabæk in Norway. He earned a move from Brøndby to Ancona 2 years ago, and stayed there for 6 months before leaving again. He never made an appearance for Ancona! Karkov just disappeared from the face of the earth!
Jonbluefox9 Posted 14 February 2005 Posted 14 February 2005 So what made you want to support Leicester City when you were born in Belgium? English parents or just hearing about them and seeing them on TV?
Fox 4 Life Posted 14 February 2005 Posted 14 February 2005 out of interest why do you support Denmark rather than Belguim as you were born and rasied there and have only lived in Denmark for 1 and half years, do you have family from Denmark or background?
shen Posted 14 February 2005 Posted 14 February 2005 out of interest why do you support Denmark rather than Belguim as you were born and rasied there and have only lived in Denmark for 1 and half years, do you have family from Denmark or background? 66541 I'm Danish My father is Danish, and I went to an international school where there was a Danish section. So I've been pretty much raised the Danish way in a different country though. I don't feel Belgian and that was one of the reasons I moved to Denmark when I finished school And yes I also have plenty of family here too
shen Posted 14 February 2005 Posted 14 February 2005 So what made you want to support Leicester City when you were born in Belgium? English parents or just hearing about them and seeing them on TV? 66540 Funny story.. I was playing USM 2 at the time, and chose to play Leicester at some point. For some reason I just loved playing them So I looked out for them when I saw MotD and then I checked out the OS, and I got pretty much hooked. I guess the fact that the squad contained mostly British players (in contrast to the top Prem clubs) and had great success being a relatively small team caught my interest. I've been a loyal follower ever since and even though we're not doing all that great, I still show my colours with pride in front of my more glamour-seeking friends
Jonbluefox9 Posted 14 February 2005 Posted 14 February 2005 Well good on ya mate. Your English is very good to say you've never lived in England or have English parents. That's the difference between English people and a lot of other European people. We don't learn another language until we're 11 and then you can stop doing it after 3 years if you want. Most other countries learn their own language and English very well. Puts most of us to shame.

I remember playing "FIFA International Football '97" (yes, it's that long ago!) and a German footie simulation called "Anstoss!2 Gold" back in 1998. I mostly chose Leicester City. Can't really tell you why, I've just never been a fan of all those glory hunters like the ones from Manchester, the London area or Liverpool. Leicester was the weakest team in the league back in "FIFA '97" (alongside Ipswich Town) and it always felt like a great challenge to win the league with this squad. I consider Leicester to be a very likeable club with great supporters. A club that is often underestimated. One of the oldest clubs in the country, as well. And I like blue and white... After meeting some of the most loyal and passionate fans over there, I now know I've made the right choice. May sound a bit silly, but it's the truth...
Jonbluefox9 Posted 14 February 2005 Posted 14 February 2005 When did you meet some of our fans? Did you come over to watch a match?

There's no real motivation to learn a foreign language, as English is understood most places in the world. I speak better English than most Danes though. Living abroad while hanging out with English, Scottish and Irish friends during my time at school is the main reason. I watched BBC a lot too in Belgium and they don't have it here. *what a way to hijack a thread! * As for the topic, I don't think Moore's good enough to be honest. There are better centrebacks out there for the taking
Ash Posted 14 February 2005 Posted 14 February 2005 I never really been impressed with Moore & he is too old .. So i wouldn't bother
bigboy Posted 14 February 2005 Posted 14 February 2005 Moore too old, anyway where is the money coming from? The only players we will get are those on a Bosman or players who nobody else wants. we keep talking about bringing players in, but we must get real WE HAVE NO MONEY!!!!! Sorry to be negitive but we must all the face facts we are brook.
TrickyTrev Posted 14 February 2005 Posted 14 February 2005 I wouldn't have taken if he was ona free transfer and he was 25, not a good enough footballer. That is both as a defender, where he is a great presence but defending is in the mind, and as a distributor. Gardsoe looks like a much better player to me and I wouldn't mind seeing him at the city next season. My personal choice of centre back would be Darren kenton from Southampton, Redknapp doesn't seem to rate him and he was superb whilst at norwich.
Jonbluefox9 Posted 14 February 2005 Posted 14 February 2005 but we must get real WE HAVE NO MONEY!!!!! Derby had/have no money but look how well they've done this season. You can't use the excuse of no money all of the time.
