Bellamy signs for West Ham

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has confirmed that Craig Bellamy has completed a move to West Ham. The Hammers are reported to have paid £8m for the Wales international on a four-year deal for £75,000 a week.

Benitez also confirmed the Reds have made an offer to sign West Ham's Yossi Benayoun which has been turned down.

"Any move for Benayoun to join us from West Ham will not be linked with the Bellamy sale. We have made an offer which has been rejected," Benitez said.

The Spaniard is however confident of landing the Israel midfielder next week.

He added: "He is a player I like and would want to sign, and I believe he wants to join us, but that deal will be separate now. We will have to wait and see what happens now next week."

West Ham had attempted to use Benayoun as a straight swap for Bellamy, but Liverpool consider him to be worth around £3.5m, and that offer has been rejected by the Hammers.

Bellamy has fallen down the pecking order at Anfield following boss Rafael Benitez's summer signings of Fernando Torres and Andriy Voronin.

The Wales captain joined Liverpool from Blackburn for £6m in June 2006.

After starting his career with Norwich City, he has also had stints with Coventry City, Newcastle United, plus a loan spell at Celtic.

Bellamy scored nine goals in 42 appearances for the Reds.

But the addition of £20m signing Torres this week means Liverpool have five senior strikers on their books - with Bellamy, Peter Crouch, Dirk Kuyt and fellow new-boy Voronin making up the total.

606: DEBATE

Is Bellamy worth £75,000 a week? No.

Of course he's not worth anything like £75k/week. But they needed to sign a replacement for Tevez, and they did (ok, he's clearly not as good, but he's a similar type of player). On a ridiculously inflated wage.

lucky lucky lucky kid

75k a week, fair play to the lad! £3.900,000 million a year

heeelll yeah to that!

well they are stuck with him now haha

How many clubs is this now? Not sure he is worth £75k a week, especially as he has a bad boy reputation!!

No-one is mate, Especially not him.

I think he'll do alright there, should play well off Ashton.

Oh... i remember him now, promising kid? knackering injury? :D:whistle: ...it'll be interesting seeing what Ashton is like in pre-season and if he can find half the form he had the season before last it'll be very good for WestHam and I agree he'll probably link up well with Bellamy.

I hate Bellamy.

He's not even that good - worth 8 million and 75k a week no chance.

Agreed, over rated, has been averge at Newcastle, Blackburn and Liverpool and I think will do the same with West Ham.

I think he's going to be amazing for them... how they pulled it off is just beyond me!

Edit: I just read the article and noticed this;

"West Ham would like to make it clear that Craig Bellamy has not yet completed a move to Upton Park.

8 millions not a bad deal when you look at how much Bent went to Spurs for. He's a good premiership striker and will do well this season I think. Not an amazing payer, sure, bit 8 million isn't that much for a good striker really.

He was better than average at Blackburn, where he was first choice. It's amazing what a good, consistent run in the side does for a player.

spot on  and first choice is what he will be at west ham if he can re-find the form he had at blackburn then he is a very good signing

he has been valued too high but who isnt in modern english football?! :dunno:

Hugely, hugely, HUGELY underrated player and a player that's slowly starting to mature as a person. I don't think anyone should earn 75k a year, but he's definitely worth the fee and will do a fantastic job there I hope. Would have liked to see him stay at the Pool, though. Should be unloading Cisse, Crouch and the like instead.

NO !!! He's useless. :dunno:

Not really.

Never really got a decent run in the team at Liverpool due to Rafas rotation policy. Given a consitant run in the team, I think he will do some damange to a lot of Premiership defenders.

It's a good move for him.

He was never going to get a good run in the side at Liverpool and he's proved he can be a good striker when he gets a consistent run in the team.

Not a bad signing for West Ham, although a bit overpriced and overpaid.

Bellamy in London. This is all going to end in tears! He seems to be a tearaway already and never stays at one club for too long so I cant see this deal working out at all. Its a shame really because at times he is a good player but of you cant make it at Liverpool then I`d doubt you can make it at West Ham, especially as it looks like he is Tevez`s replacement.

Bellamy's like a little mongrel we had once. Races around at top speed but has no idea what he's doing or where he's going most of the time.

If he can grow up, he might have found his level. He's missed his chance at the big-time now, but he might work well with Ashton or Zamora. The fact that Newcastle and Liverpool have both kicked him out might finally have shown him that the world doesn't revolve around Craig Bellamy.

It's all if if if with a guy like Bellamy though.
