Simi Posted 8 July 2007 Posted 8 July 2007 QPR FACE DROP OVER LOAN DEALBy Paul Smith 08/07/2007 QUEENS Park Rangers face being relegated from the Championship or handicapped with a severe points deduction when the Football League board meet on Thursday. The League is furious that QPR seriously breached their rules by entering into an illegal loan agreement with League One Oldham. They borrowed £500,000 against the future sale of 24-year-old winger Lee Cook. The Football League has ordered QPR to repay the money. But QPR's financial crisis has deepened leaving them in a perilous position after the original cheque they issued to - repay Oldham bounced. However, QPR chairman Gianni Paladini insisted last night: "We paid the cheque to Oldham on Friday. I can tell you now that everything is satisfactory." A Football League source said: "We have unlimited powers to take an acceptable course of action in the case of QPR." Mirror If they are relegated does this leave us with 23 teams ? Or Southend reinstated?
lookwhaticando Posted 8 July 2007 Posted 8 July 2007 MirrorIf they are relegated does this leave us with 23 teams ? Or Southend reinstated? More likely.
Webbo Posted 8 July 2007 Posted 8 July 2007 It'll be interesting to see how the Football league handle this in comparison to the way the Premier League handled the West Ham affair. Surely if QPR are relegated this will put more pressure on the PL.
davieG Posted 8 July 2007 Posted 8 July 2007 It's about time a dose of integrity and honesty was instilled in football boardrooms, although I see no chance of the whilst we have such an unequal distribution of money. It's seems it's ok to punish teams that go into administration through ineptitude but they let agents and unscrupulous people control the game.
Geo V Posted 8 July 2007 Posted 8 July 2007 Weak decisions by the Premier league or football league will end up having a huge negative effect when other rule breakers are caught because teh punishment never seems to fit the crime. It should be in black and white that if you break a certain rule, this will be the consequence instead of this grey area that seems to appear at the moment. QPR wont get any more than a fine IMO.
Brainy Posted 8 July 2007 Posted 8 July 2007 Well if it does, thankfk Leeds had that points deduction.
Blue Bob Posted 8 July 2007 Posted 8 July 2007 Does that only give us two relegation spots to play for? Thats hardly fair
act smiley Posted 8 July 2007 Posted 8 July 2007 They'll probably get a 6 point deduction for this season, I reckon. The league has seen the backlash over the Tevez thing and will want to come across as tough, but I don't see them doing a straight up relegation for it.
Chairman of the Bored Posted 8 July 2007 Posted 8 July 2007 Would be nice to wave goodbye to Johnny G.
mancunianfox Posted 9 July 2007 Posted 9 July 2007 If it works out, i bet Leeds are kicking themselves. TBH I would love it to work out like that because Leeds' little stunt will have backfired on them even further.
Manwell Pablo Posted 9 July 2007 Posted 9 July 2007 How pissed off would you be if you were a Leeds United. After all the crap they've put up with, if they hadn't of gone into admin it would of been them who may of been reinstated if QPR get relegated.

AyewJoking Posted 9 July 2007 Posted 9 July 2007 Dont dock QPR points, just give them a £5.5 million fine. That'll teach em.
Floating Fox Posted 9 July 2007 Posted 9 July 2007 Dont dock QPR points, just give them a £5.5 million fine. That'll teach em. They'd go bust
Simi Posted 9 July 2007 Author Posted 9 July 2007 The one good thing that could come of this, the selling of Lee Cook for a reasonable price.
Simon Posted 9 July 2007 Posted 9 July 2007 The one good thing that could come of this, the selling of Lee Cook for a reasonable price. To us of course
AyewJoking Posted 9 July 2007 Posted 9 July 2007 The one good thing that could come of this, the selling of Lee Cook for a reasonable price. Thats not a good thing considering how slow off the mark we are on snapping up the brightest prospects.
Joe. Posted 9 July 2007 Posted 9 July 2007 If Lee Cook goes anywhere it's likely he'll end up in the Premiership so I wouldn't get your hopes up.
hairy Posted 12 July 2007 Posted 12 July 2007 Anymore news on this? It appears to be a load of crap The Sunday Mirror reported this week that QPR's £500k cheque repaying the money leant to them by Simon Blitz had bounced. Blitz controversially leant Rangers the money at the end of last season secured against winger Lee Cook but QPR said they would pay it back "forthwith" when the league threatened an investigation. It is against league rules for clubs to become linked and people to hold interests in more than one side. Blitz, the chairman of Oldham Athletic, stressed the loan was a personal one and had nothing to do with the Lancashire outfit. The Mirror reported that now QPR have failed to make the repayments an investigation will be launched with a possible points deduction the result. However a 'Loftus Road insider' told the Kilburn Times this week: "We were surprised by the story. We haven't been asked to attend the Football League meeting or told there is anything we need to reply to. "The loan will be repaid in full. The club has contacted both the FA and Football League and they have confirmed they are not taking any action."
