Kent Fox Posted 18 July 2007 Posted 18 July 2007 It's my daughters birthday on Sunday. All of her friends have the DS, but is it any good? Or is the Sony better? Educationally, I think you can get games for both - might as well try and turn into something other than a games console, if you get my drift. She's only 6 - don't bother with the she's-too-young-are-you-insane argument. Peer pressure lives on. Or perhaps you have a better idea. So urgent help please as I am going to have to get this by Friday. I'm off to google now.
The People's Hero Posted 18 July 2007 Posted 18 July 2007 I think she'd prefer the DS mate. I think they can come in pink too, if that's her kinda thing. As a 6 year old girl, I imagine it is.
Joe. Posted 18 July 2007 Posted 18 July 2007 I'd probably say the DS too. It's just more interactive than a PSP so probably more likely to keep her occupied
Phube Posted 18 July 2007 Posted 18 July 2007 No need to ask really!! DS ALL the way, even if she was a he and 25!!!
Alexikokopops Posted 18 July 2007 Posted 18 July 2007 For that age it has to be DS. Nintendo are kings of the stupid fun games which make any regress to that kind of age. Love it.

Thank you sir. The pink may swing it For that age it has to be DS. Nintendo are kings of the stupid fun games which make any regress to that kind of age. Love it. Now that appeals to me, so pink might be out! Thanks for the opinions thus far - I appreciate it.
The People's Hero Posted 18 July 2007 Posted 18 July 2007 Bump for KentFox (now feel bad about all the cr ap threads I started)
Kent Fox Posted 18 July 2007 Author Posted 18 July 2007 Bump for KentFox (now feel bad about all the cr ap threads I started) I love my PSP. You can get those in pink too. Oh No! Dissent in the ranks. But is PSP better / are the games better for a 6 year old / 44 year old?
Guest Posted 18 July 2007 Posted 18 July 2007 Oh No! Dissent in the ranks. But is PSP better / are the games better for a 6 year old / 44 year old? I don't have a DS Lite, so I can't tell you if it's any better. But I like the fact that I can upload dvd's etc and watch them on the go. Dunno if that would appeal to a 6 year old. It probably would.
Daggers Posted 18 July 2007 Posted 18 July 2007 DS You can get the cute puppy game. Girls like cute puppies. If there are any girls interested in seeing my puppy I can arrange a suitable location. *All girls must be of legal puppy stroking age, not have any current commitments to any other pets and must not tell anyone that I let them stroke my puppy
Daggers Posted 18 July 2007 Posted 18 July 2007 Not this girl. Then you aren't going to get a ride in my car or any of my sweets. Speaking of which - I'm dead miffed about Chris Langham. In the past, all child molester have been odious shits that I'd never liked. But I used to like Chris Langham. What a shit.

All this quasi-paedophiliac nonsensical chat has knocked my thread down. So I had to write that rubbish to get it back up a bit. So, DS in pink so far, any more thoughts??
The People's Hero Posted 18 July 2007 Posted 18 July 2007 Does she like puppies? I think you can get one that comes with Nintendogs, which is like a virtual pet thing. I imagine it's the sort of thing a 6 year old girl might like.

I imagine it's the sort of thing a 6 year old girl might like. Like you so rightly say, puppies would go down well (feck off, Daggers - don't start again) Dunno about games. If she were a he, it'd be easy. Can't not get a couple of games. That's like when your dad used to buy you a new robot and no friggin' batteries! Virtual pet=good.
Bluefoxtim Posted 18 July 2007 Posted 18 July 2007 You can get PSP games for free and play them without any trouble. I paid £150 for the console and I have many many games although I have only paid for 2. Although for a 6 year old girl, A ds would be better.
Pete_foxes Posted 18 July 2007 Posted 18 July 2007 I'd go for a DS with a 6 year old. I think the games for the DS are more geared at children of your daughters age. The Sony PSP probably has a better range & better detail & graphics quality but I don't think a 6 year old would be too bothered about that. DS could also be better if all of her friends have it so she 'fits in' with the crowd. Hope this helps

All sounds a bit too similar to dogging for my liking. So, DS in pink so far, any more thoughts?? Go for it... and you will be her bestest, favouritest Dad until you next give her grief and she threatens to divorce you.

Although it's the bloody crowd that started this "daddy, can I please have one" thing. Thanks to all that have replied Looks like the DS is the outright winner! Cheers.

I won't be getting this until tomorrow at the earliest.
hairy Posted 18 July 2007 Posted 18 July 2007 PSPs are hard to come by at the moment as Sony has stopped making the original as they are replacing it with a thin 30% lighter version. Having said that my mate got one from Argos on Friday but they were the only ones who had one. For someone of her age I would go with the DS. Its more interactive and easier to use than the PSP.
