Jack Posted 29 July 2007 Posted 29 July 2007 Do you think he is good enough and if so where would you like to see him play ? Personally i think he's a great talent for his age and is ready to play at this level and in a few years maybe he could be a premiership player. I'd like to see him play left mid, i think it'd be a waste having him at left back.
Nationwider Posted 29 July 2007 Posted 29 July 2007 In true Leicester City fashion, I feel that we should start him at right-midfield and watch his career deteriorate.
STUHILL Posted 29 July 2007 Posted 29 July 2007 Havnt seen enough of him to determine whether he is Prem class or not. I would like to see him have a fair wack this year but i am totally torn between LB or LM. I am sure MA already has an idea which is his strongest position and so I am willing to back which ever he goes with. I am slightly leaning towards LB though as I havn't see enough of his crossing to decide if he is good enough to play LM and whip in crosses!
Rossatron Posted 29 July 2007 Posted 29 July 2007 i think he is ready for this level, as long as hes playin i dont mind, prefer him left mid though
Wasyls Pec Deck Posted 29 July 2007 Posted 29 July 2007 How the hell can anyone tell if he's prem class yet!! The lads only 17/18 and you can count the number of first team games he's played on 1 hand! Ridiculous. That of course doesnt mean I think he'll be a main stay in our 1st team next season... cus he will

Thracian Posted 29 July 2007 Posted 29 July 2007 got to be LB with Levi LM In a 4-4-2 I'd agree although Sheehan would be more creative.
Cobbo Posted 29 July 2007 Posted 29 July 2007 Mattock does look class from the small glimpses I have seen of him. However, we should in no way be relying on him as a first choice winger or full back at his age. He should only play a few games. Don't want any burn out. Just get him involved sholwly and he'll benefit greatly from the experience and also not suffer any fatigue at his young age. We have the resources now to now have to rely heavily on youngsters (although bringing good player through our own ranks is essential) so we shouldn't and let them flourish in their 20's.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 29 July 2007 Posted 29 July 2007 I'd like to see Mattock at LM, because I don't really feel that we have any quality attacking left mids. From what he showed last season he has power and pace, and I beleive that Sheehan would be a preferred choice at left back. This would put Chambers to right back where he has looked the part, but a little poor whilst on the left side. To sum up, in any combination I'd like us to have Sheehan and Mattock down the left flank (Not sure if Sheehan can play left-mid, though)
filbertway Posted 29 July 2007 Posted 29 July 2007 LB, he didn't impress me playing left wing last season. He looks like he could be a quality left back though.
The Reverend Posted 29 July 2007 Posted 29 July 2007 Left back, not got the technique for a winger, but has it for a full back in abundance. Looks a great prospect, lets not spoil him by playing him in what looks to me like a weaker position (LW).
Pete_foxes Posted 29 July 2007 Posted 29 July 2007 I do think he is a quality prospect. Definatly should be a regular in the team. Twice as good as the likes of Maybury etc... I think he could become subject of some premiership interest should he keep progressing. Definatly play him left midfield.

Sparky Posted 29 July 2007 Posted 29 July 2007 i like to see sheehan and mattock battling it out for the left back slot
Pete_foxes Posted 29 July 2007 Posted 29 July 2007 The interest has been there for a while already. Was it Villa?
Daz.I Posted 29 July 2007 Posted 29 July 2007 The lads got real potential his ability to go past players is outstanding he plays with so much confidence so I'd have to say LM but chambers looks a bit clumsy so he can always go LB, who knows mattock
Ric Flair Posted 30 July 2007 Posted 30 July 2007 I'd prefer him at left back to be honest. Don't get me wrong, he's more than capable at left wing, but with us likely to be using Kaebi and Chambers on the right next season (2 players naturally right sided defenders) I don't think we should follow suit on the left side. Mattock's best strength is the way he reads the game and his precise timing of tackles. He's good going forward, but i'd rather him play at the back as he's a very good defender, solid as they come. New left winger please.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 30 July 2007 Posted 30 July 2007 Was it Villa? I think so, it was rumoured that they wanted Mattock and Stearman for about £3-£3.5 million. It'd be a terrible shame if we sold him really, considering some of the tripe we have on our books.
