Brainy Posted 29 July 2007 Posted 29 July 2007 Sheffield United have confirmed they have made a bid to take Everton striker James Beattie to Bramall Lane. Everton are believed to be prepared to listen to offers in the region of £4m for the England striker they paid Southampton £6m for in January 2005. Boss Bryan Robson told the club website: "We've put a bid in to Everton and we've got to wait and see. "If I can persuade him to drop into the Championship, hopefully for only one season, he would be a good signing." Beattie has suffered a frustrating time at Goodison Park since his move two years ago. He arrived on the back of a successful spell at Southampton, where he had broken into the England squad. His 76 appearances for Everton, including 51 starts, have brought him just 13 goals and he has fallen down the pecking order. Robson said: "I've got a couple of things in the pipeline that are very close. "Hopefully in the next 24 or 48 hours we can move forward with that." But Robson admitted his interest in Celtic midfielder Thomas Gravesen is not likely to bear fruit. 606: DEBATE Are all Blades fans totally against this move as this is the general opinion I seem to be reading SB

Manwell Pablo Posted 29 July 2007 Posted 29 July 2007 Be a cracking signing for them. Not at that price.
lildave3 Posted 29 July 2007 Posted 29 July 2007 Not at that price. Judging by the rest of this summers transfers, it's not far off.
TheBlinding Posted 29 July 2007 Posted 29 July 2007 I wonder who the 1st person to say we should put a bid in will be?
lookwhaticando Posted 29 July 2007 Posted 29 July 2007 I said a long time ago we should have tried to sign Beattie. He's a cracking defender.
Wasyls Pec Deck Posted 29 July 2007 Posted 29 July 2007 they wont sign him, he wont drop down a div, that and Robsons a ****
General Smuts Posted 30 July 2007 Posted 30 July 2007 They'd do well to get him and yes i do kind of wish we'd get in on that action as i too said a while ago that we should be aiming to get him bu then i also thought we'd get Sasa Illic and Jason Culina so what do i know eh?
Brainy Posted 30 July 2007 Author Posted 30 July 2007 I heard this morning that the bid has been accepted.
Simi Posted 30 July 2007 Posted 30 July 2007 4 million Not worth that price I don't think. He'd do well in this division though.
Geo V Posted 30 July 2007 Posted 30 July 2007 Robson is usually clueless but Beattie will score goals at this level, that I'm sure of. I suppose Robson doesn't care how much he`ll cost as he isn't paying it from his pocket but it is silly season so if he goes for £4m I wouldnt be surprised.
Stevosevic Posted 4 August 2007 Posted 4 August 2007 He's joined, he'll be the leagues top scorer IMO. Too good for this league.

I think you're underestimating Robson he got promotion twice out of this division and did well to keep WBA up that first season. Sheff Utd have to be 1 of the favourites for me.
Joe. Posted 4 August 2007 Posted 4 August 2007 I think he'll do well personally and be in the top 3 goalscorers come end of season.
Benji Posted 4 August 2007 Posted 4 August 2007 Beattie, Sharp, Hulse, Stead, Webber, Nade ouch it must be a sheff utd thing, didn't warnock have a striker fetish?
Flexx Posted 4 August 2007 Posted 4 August 2007 Beattie, Sharp, Hulse, Stead, Webber, Nadeouch it must be a sheff utd thing, didn't warnock have a striker fetish? And Luton Shelton! Nade just turned down a move to Hull though, so there probably willing to let him go.
Stevosevic Posted 5 August 2007 Posted 5 August 2007 Beattie, Sharp, Hulse, Stead, Webber, Nadeouch it must be a sheff utd thing, didn't warnock have a striker fetish? Surely they would all be looking to play everyweek? Especially Hulse and Beattie. Have fun keeping them happy.
lildave3 Posted 5 August 2007 Posted 5 August 2007 I've just realised Sheff United have brought in Naysmith from Everton aswell as Beattie. Not forgetting Jagielka moved there earlier on this summer for 4 million. Interesting. Or is it?

Interesting. Or is it? Not really. Clemence, N Gotty and Campbell None the other way though.
