The People's Hero Posted 1 August 2007 Posted 1 August 2007 Apple Crumble with Custard. Cheesecake (fruit topping or honeycomb - everything else is just not cheesecake) Syrup Sponge with Custard.Jam Roly Poly with Custard. Arctic Roll. Creme Brulee. Any others need mentioning? Apple Crumble with Custard is quite simply the king of kings in terms of the Dessert Royal Structure (a complex and difficult to fathom structure, if ever there was one - which there was). Oh and Cheese and Biscuits/Bread with Red Wine/Port is an addition to and not replacement for dessert.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 1 August 2007 Posted 1 August 2007 I'm a philistine so for me it has to involve chocolate and contain no fruit whatsoever. I prefer savoury.
Finnegan Posted 1 August 2007 Posted 1 August 2007 Chocolate fudge cake with vanilla ice cream. <3 Though much love for the fruit cheesecake, too.
Stevosevic Posted 1 August 2007 Posted 1 August 2007 Chocolate fudge cake with vanilla ice cream. <3Though much love for the fruit cheesecake, too. Spot on. I can't think of anything i would rather have for dessert.

You already said that. And just to appear more 'culchad' - I'll be having some grapes with my cheeseboard please.
THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 1 August 2007 Posted 1 August 2007 Battered bananas (I'm not usually a big banana fan but these are fabulous) with hot chocolate sauce and chopped hazel nuts.
Phube Posted 1 August 2007 Posted 1 August 2007 They don't make my ideal dessert!! It would be a: "Cheesecake-Crumble-Pie" That is a Cheesecake base, topped with Crumble all encased in shortcrust pastry. Severed with custard!!!

And what would be your filling of choice, sir?
Phube Posted 1 August 2007 Posted 1 August 2007 You make a fantastic point. Why doesn't this exist? And what would be your filling of choice, sir? That's the point, there is none!! Fruit is just an inconvenience, when all I want is the nice topping/bottoming/casing!!! Mmmmm...

Kent Fox Posted 1 August 2007 Posted 1 August 2007 Bread & Butter Pudding, cooked with Orange Liquer and served with a whisky sauce. Light and hits the spot. Also, the addition of some peaches into the mix all makes for a very satisfying pud. And the girls love it

Phube Posted 1 August 2007 Posted 1 August 2007 That sahara-ble thing to say. I was thinking sooo hard, but couldn't think of one!! My hat comes off to you Mr. Fez!!
Daggers Posted 1 August 2007 Posted 1 August 2007 Pudding is crap. Fruit is my limit - the rest of it is just sweet nonsense. I never eat cheese for pudding, that is wrong. Unless you classify cheese as pudding in which case I never eat main course, just pudding. I reckon this approach to dinner table life gives me the edge.

Except I'm replacing Creme Brulee with Sticky Toffee Pudding for when I'm feeling like pushing the boat out.
