Oh yes, its Internationals weekend.

QPR at home next. I expect them to sign 2 or 3 more loan players in time for this game now they have new riches. It should be a good game.

Nah he played on Saturday (not very well either apparently)

What am I to believe? Your "not very well" or "he didn't have a bad game" from the lad who went?

yes but if he was the superstar you made him out to be surely he would be getting weso esq ratings every game and be setting the league on fire :whistle:

I have never once remotely suggested Dodds is a superstar nor anything approaching one.

Dodds scored Lincoln's opener tonight against Bradford. Is that three for the season so far in five games or so?

From the Lincoln site:

"Midway through the half, N'Guessan and Dodds swapped flanks before a Forrester cross led to a third City flag-kick and this one was a peach of a delivery by Frecklington and it led to the opening goal of the game with 26 minutes on the clock.

The ball in from the Lincoln-born midfielder was nodded back across the box by Forrester at the back stick, N'Guessan saw his goalbound drive blocked on the line and when it ran loose, LOUIS DODDS blasted goalwards and although his shot was also blocked, the assistant referee was on the spot and quickly indicated that the ball was over the line."

1-1 halftime.

Second half:

Shot by Louis Dodds (Lincoln City) drilled right-footed from centre of penalty area (12 yards), save (tipped over) by Donovan Ricketts (Bradford). Inswinging corner from right by-line taken right-footed by Lee Frecklington (Lincoln City) to centre, save (punched) by Donovan Ricketts (Bradford).

Dodds subbed after a booking on 85 minutes. Bradford won 2-1.

Just got back from the game tonight, Lincoln 1-2 Bradford.

Dodds started off at right midfield but it was a very advanced position with both wingers pushed right on forming a kind of 4-2-4 formation. He was very quiet early on and I think his 1st touch was a foul and about the 15th minute, didn't really recieve the ball much early on as many of linoln's attacks came from the left. Then he got the opened from a corner bit scrappy but hit a decent shot from just inside the area which according to the linesman crossed the line. Bradford players and fans alike strongly disagreed!

Showed a few nice touches after that but still wasn't involved that much as an attacking force 2nd half as lincoln really struggled. He swithched to the left just before h/t then back to the right on about 70 mins, tbh I think he looked more happier on the right but it was also noted he got himself in the area well, ready to sniff out chances. Also Tracked back really well at times and made key interceptions in his own 3rd, not bad for someone I had down as an out and out striker. Picked up a booking for a foul late on and was subbed with about 10 to go.

In conclusion I'd give him 7, mainly for the goal but he also showed good battling in my opinion and some nice interceptions and touches to build lincoln attacks and deny the oppostions.

Probably out of position right mid but he's doing well and it will be great experience for the lad, playing every week and scoring plenty of goals. Also now technically out top goal scorer this season.

Does he take the free-kicks and penalties?

Interesting stuff. Pleased for him though, good to see him playing regularly and scoring goals too.

Not that I saw no, they had a last minute free kick when he was off the field which Frecklington I think took.

So I can't really answer that but I wouldn't have thought so, he's certainly not their main striker, slotting in behind the oldies of Stallard and Forrester hence why he mainly occupies wide areas, but like you say good to see him doing well.

I'll try and pop down again before the new year if City havn't got a game and see how hes doing, word from Lincoln is that Dodds is very happy there and may be willing to sign due to the off field issues our club.

Well, he takes a cracking free-kick, curls it no end on a good day. It doesn't surprise me that he's happy. He was insulted at Leicester the last season he was here, especially when Kelly preferred to go with that misnamed donkey Horsfield.

Well he's already proved his point by scoring one more League goal in 5 matches than Horsfield managed in his entire nine match spell for Leicester - and that from wide positions rather than as a striker. I couldn't be more pleased for him.

If no-one picks him in the Championship then he won't score there will he?

I watched Horsfield play as well as you did. There was no way then and there's no way now that Dodds would score fewer goals than him in any grade of football.

Yes it's early days but Dodds seems to be scoring goals at no lesser rate than he scored em at every other level of football. Why should he find it harder in the Championship?

The goals he scores don't rely on great strength or speed or dribbling skills. You cannot mark him out of a game by putting a fast, mobile defender on him as you might Fryatt.

Dodds can shoot from anyhere and from dead ball situations. With him it's all about an instant opportunity. Being in the right place at the right time and choosing the right shot. You can't teach that and its devilishly difficult to combat because now you see him, now you don't.

Even Kelly reluctantly admitted Dodds was the best natural finisher in the club - that's better than Hume and Fryatt in his opinion. It made a change for him to be right. Just a pity he couldn't find the courage to act on his own words.

I'm not picked in Leicesters first team so I won't score, doesn't make me any good.

No proof of that, just your opinion.

Kelly, what a judge of a player he was. Two words Josh Low.

I did say it made a change for Kelly to be right on something. As for Horsfield/Dodds I wish it were feasible to set up a bet on the issue. Cos I'd table a pretty hefty wedge if you fancied it. To me its like comparing Arkle with Dobbin.
