I was playing a friendly yesterday for my team when the ball bounced in the area, about chest hieght the ball was by the time i got there. I punched clear put the striker had his studs showing ( To be fair an attempt to get the ball ) But his set of studs met my chest im afraid :| Apparantly the thud was heard from the touchline

This happened last night and it still hurts now, Especially when i breath in. Anyone know why or what?

cheers

Because he kicked you in the chest?

Also, you should have caught the ball if it was chest height and you were in goal. If you weren't in goal, you shouldn't have punched it.

Because somebody studded you in the chest?

I broke my leg playing in goal last year, my mate was injured so I said I'd give it a go.

Broke my finger in the warm up as well.

Quiet you.

Does it hurt around the sternum? I got palmed off (except with a fist) there in a rugby game a couple of years ago and heavy breathing hurt for about a month. It's probably just a bit of bruising, but if its dead painful you should get yourself down the infirmary and have them check for a fracture or break.

This lad came through on goal from a ball over the top and I came out to get the ball and clattered into this lad when I dived down to get the ball. 50/50 challenge.

haha. you mappet. I only had the time to punch. If i'd have tried to cath it, god knows what would happen. It was like a snatch punch, hense straight after i got clattered

i done a similar thing, when heavily breathing it would hurt and also, still to this day if i get pushed or hit there it hurts but the pain has gone now from jus breathing! Goalkeeping is fun though injuries are just part of the game

SHould have turned your back or jumped up yourself to protect yourself :P

Where were you yesterday to tell me that lol

Narr, i don't think i had time to snatch at the ball and then turn, i had to be brave and jump into his studs in order to get the ball. Great confidence booster for the rest of the season :D:rolleyes:

cheers pal. Your rugby incedent sounds very painful.

It's not quite the sternum, just to the right, on my ribs. Yes i suspect it to be bruising as i carried on the whole game as per usual. I doubt i'd be able to do that with a brake or fracture?

But i was just wondering because like i said breathing hurts, and it particually hurts when I lay down and try to sit up!

I mean this morning i attempted bending down to put my socks on, wasn't a very pleasent feeling to put it lightly. I had to sit on the bed to enable me to reach. Still hurts :(

What a find is that if you kind of wimp out of the challenge and you get hurt then it seems more but if you follow through and go in hard then I find i'm allright

Your right, that is usually the case. Backfired on me this time, both went into eachother at high speeds, going into the challenged was infact the best thing to do in footballing terms but it didn't do my frame an awful lot of good lol
