Flat back four, two central defensive midfielders, an attacking midfielder, a striker and two attacking wingers/wing forwards. 4-2-2-1-1. Great formation if you have good attacking wingers. Worked best for me when I had Lee Martin (AML) and a Spanish guy called Rafita (AMR) who is excellent value.

I couldn't find anything to work either, until but with Crewe a 4-1-3-2 worked with 3 CM's and a DM. And also 4-3-3 seems to work, oes with Crewe and Portsmouth Finally got the patch loaded and I've joined Leicester, doing well already in 9th (does you get the same position every time you start a new one or does it change?) Basically when you start with the new patch it puts you on Jan 15th 2008 (well this one does anyway), I was just wondering whether the league position is randomised or if I started with Leicester on the patch again they'd be 9th again like tihs one.

You sure you haven't just downloaded savegame? Or maybe you have Brazil league loaded or something are you're starting when Brazil's season satrts?

I downloaded a patch from the FM forum and when I started with Leicester it just put me on the 15th of Jan, in 9th position of the Championship. All of the January transfers had been there since the start of the season because the likes of Howard and Oakley had 20+ appearances under their belts. Haha, Barry Hayles is terrible, how'd he score 4? Becasue he's brilliant (for me anyway) , 10 goals from 8 starts for the season.

Sounds like you got someones save game (who had retired) and you added yourself as manager? Do you have any other leagues loaded etc.
