Wherethefoxhat? Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 I honestly think we're on for promotion----------------------- ---------no really!!!!!!!
dandannieldanok Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 I think we'll do better than if we'd stuck with Allen but IMO the squad, however big it is, isn't good enough to challenge for promotion. Please prove me wrong lads.

Please prove me wrong lads. We`ll never know regarding MA but I must admit the signs on the pitch were looking good. However we have the same squad he left with the addition of two filthy foreigners (just like my good self) so we are in just as strong a position. We have also got players like Fryatt who will be given a fair crack at the whip and even Kaebi, who seemed to be a million miles away from the first team under MA now looks set to feature strongly. We have plenty to be confident about so I`ll go for easy play-off place and with a bit of luck, automatic promotion (when was the last time that happened??)

Where's TPH to call you a magnificent creature when you need him?
He's not bald Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 I think we'll do better than if we'd stuck with Allen but IMO the squad, however big it is, isn't good enough to challenge for promotion. Please prove me wrong lads. We aint exactly set the Championship on fire have we W1 D2 L1 and before you all start I know it's early days and I expect it will be at least another 4 matches before Smegson's honeymoon is over and he is expected to get results..what happens if he can't deliver and MM gets rid?..another 2 matches and then another appointment...worries me it really does!
Finn Claw Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 I still think it is far to early to have any idea where we are going to finish, i'd rather have megson than warnock or the rodent.
BigGibbo Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 10th place finish with the sort of football that makes you want to try poppers & cut off your own face ala hannibal
davieG Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 You might just as well ask who will be manager at the end of season!
Thracian Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 I still think it is far to early to have any idea where we are going to finish, i'd rather have megson than warnock or the rodent. Time will tell but that sees rather like saying you'd rather have flu than bronchitis.
DB11 Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 9th if we get a bit of stability Would have been about 5th - 7th if we'd kept with MA though, IMO
Monk Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 4th - Gary Megsons blue army. We've got the players to do it, no reason why we cant
Raj Posted 14 September 2007 Posted 14 September 2007 You might just as well ask who will be manager at the end of season! Martin Jol
lildave3 Posted 14 September 2007 Posted 14 September 2007 What? No mention of the Britannia stadium?
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 14 September 2007 Posted 14 September 2007 6TH - I know its in the past but Megson does have a decent record in this division and we got a decent squad
boneman Posted 14 September 2007 Posted 14 September 2007 6TH - I know its in the past but Megson does have a decent record in this division and we got a decent squad I didn't think we would make the playoff's at the start of the year, and despite all the unsettling that has occured over the last couple of weeks I still believe we will finish in the top half...8th. Would love to be proven wrong however and feature in the top 6!

Strokes Posted 14 September 2007 Posted 14 September 2007 God, i'll be suprised if we make the top 10 with GM and MM in charge.
Lester LXXIV Posted 14 September 2007 Posted 14 September 2007 God, i'll be suprised if we make the top 10 with GM and MM in charge. C'mon mate, pick yerself up, i'm sure it won't be that bad!
wirralsimon Posted 14 September 2007 Posted 14 September 2007 Promotion would need a massive turnaround from what we have been watching for the last few seasons. As a minimum I would want us to be in the top half and getting a real sense of progress from last season, even if we have to wait a year or two to go up. Megsons not an exiting choice but he has a decent enough track record at this level and I suspect that was what swung it for Mandy. Simon
Tabou Posted 14 September 2007 Posted 14 September 2007 We have to same chance of getting promotion now as we did at the start of the season! I liked MA, but in all honesty, his results werent great. A win, loss and a draw in 3 isn't bad, but neither is it FANTASTIC. If anything, we have a more experienced manager, with experience with big squads and developing players, experience of promotion, and general desire to suceed ( he has to if he wants to keep his job). So, to say a push for the playoffs is possible is perfectly feasible
