QPR Post Match

Carl Cort was really poor. I can't believe that I actually wanted MDV to come on we were that desperate!

Anyway, their goal was decent but we should really have scored more than we did.

Also it was one of the most dull and boring games I've seen this season :(

Should we? To be honest, we didn't look like scoring at all - never do when playing the long ball game

Defending reminiscent of a Rob Kelly team for there goal, why could we not close them down and push them back? Let alone close the ball down.

Constantly throughout the match 1 of there wingers beat our wingback and winger. Embarrassing.

Cort was so piss poor I was actually glad when DeVries came on. Why did he wait until injury time when we were chasing a win?

What a boring game.

We just kept hoofing the ball up to the strikers (who did nothing with it) on the few occasions we did keep the ball on the floor we looked a lot more threatening.

Seemed our style of play had turned a corner when MA came in, now we have just done a U-turn.

You say we played hoof ball, but then you criticise the strikers and expected them to do something with that style of football :dunno:

Your guess is as good as mine.

I thought the timing of the subs and even the players he bought on were poor.

We ended the match with..

Chambers Weso Clemence Kishishev.

We tried to kill the game in the middle of the park, but when it backfired we had no chance of getting another chance to win the game, although Clemence was very unlucky.

step back guys, this isn't so bad....

firstly, i know it's a bit silly, but new city managers DON'T WIN first matches... so a draw is next best.

we had two goals disallowed - so something must have been right somewhere.

QPR scored a wonder goal out of nowhere, shit happens...

if we start hoofing too much, clemence, i think, needs to take responsibility for this - so much should go thru him he needs to make sure its played to feet, that's what a captain in the midfield has to do... on the pitch its about 11 players way more than the managers...

having said that doesn't sound like the substitutiions were too clever.

we didn't lose, we dominated, its still a team with little match experience together, this result aian't the end of the world. still on an undefeated league run aren't we? well....

Think that's putting it a little strong. There wasn't a lot between the teams today.

Well they didn't do anything with it did they, and I didn't expect them to as long ball games have never worked. The past 3 seasons has proved that.

...and QPR were absolutely terrible...

We were shit. What is the point in playing hoofball with a team of short arses? Cort was OK for the first half but clearly not match fit, and his first touch was awful. How he's getting in ahead of De Vries I don't know. When we played the ball along the deck the odd time, we actually looked slightly useful, but then we just got the 'urge' to lump it forwards for God knows what reason- the Deej gave his all to his credit, but was never EVER going to be winning headers like that.

Porter gave his all but his final ball was woeful, and when he was running at players he didn't once look like he was going to beat them. Clem had a really poor game, and even Weso seemed to want to get involved in the hoof, although he did partly make up for this with one or two decent runs- but he must become more CLINICAL!

Sheehan wasn't bad but he can't head at all so what was the point in him and Kisnorbo swapping all the time? Kisnorbo, by the way, was awful- fell asleep and let his man drift off him while he stood with his hand in the air calling for offside! McAuley was decent, as was N'Gotty defensively, but some of their 'lumps' forward were dreadful.

Fulop was amazing though- kept us in it right at the end- full of confidence. The sooner we secure this guy on a permanent contract, the better.

I just so fricking angry cause QPR were there for the taking; they had one of the most inept forward lines I've seen at the Walkers until the goal, and we just let them off.

Even Megson's post match interview narked me- how can he blame it totally on the players for going defensive when he brings on a defender and a defensive midfielder when we're 1-0 up? How does he expect the players will react??!!!

I need a drink. :@

maybe... all i'm saying is we had nigh on 60% possesion, the ball in the net 3 times, hit the woodwork, and one off the line...

hardly reason to describe us as 'embarassing', people are talking like we just lost 4-0...

a bit of perspective and a calm head, that's the vålerenga way ;)

no, which is why i'm telling people to step back!

i've seen enough frustrating crap games in my time, thanks very much, but we have to look at the bigger picture (see my previous post).

doesn't make any difference if i was there or not - i'm choosing to look for the positives and the reasons why this isn't such a bad result.

Fu(ks sake - most of these guys have only played two or three games together, what do you expect - barce****inlona :banghead:

I was sitting near Kenton, Stearman, Hayes, Mattock, Sappleton, Hellings, Kaebi (fat interpreter included), Nielsen, Djaziri, Ferreira and all the academy lads today. At least we have people such as Kaebi, Ferreira and Djaziri still to come in to mix things up, and hopefully improve things.

What was Megson saying at the start i couldnt understand him :unsure:

"You now where i've been, yeh, who cares"

"Me and the staff will give it 100% and we need the fans to give it 100% aswell.

We weren't as bad as some people are making out. We bossed the game for 80 minutes without ever looking too threatening, DJ had one off the line and we had a couple disallowed but, apart from the goal, that was about it. QPR did nothing until the last 10 minutes, we dropped too deep, gave them too much time and it was a great strike from Leigertwood(sp?). Fulop kept us in it at the end and Clem was unlucky. We deserved to win, but didn't kill the game.

I know, the Watford performance was awful as well - the players haven't gelled yet

We played well until Megson started tinkering, bringing on 2 defensive players as wingers.....and we fell apart. There was no outlet to attack so QPR pressed us back. Also why when they equalised did Newton not come on?

QPR were poor today, they were there for the taking and we threw it away.

I'm worried.

What a stark example of total managerial imcompetence.

You really couldn't make it up.

I've no idea why Megson preferred Cort to DeVries - he'd never earned a first team spot on merit.

But that decision apart his initial team selection was fine and well able to see off a QPR side which wouldn't win Division One and which was an insult to its teams of the past.

City find themselves 1-0 ahead having held the advantage virtually throughout so first session...

So why the hell make any changes at all? Why fix what's not broken?.

Team changes are supposed to improve a performance. In what way did Megson's team changes even pretend to improve anything?

Cambell has won a penalty that gave us the lead and he would have scored but for a brilliant near goalline clearance.

So why replace him with a right back and then add further insult by playing that right back on the wing where he's never previously been seen with any seriousness?

Stage one of unbalancing a perfectly effective team.

Then why take off a second forward - a man who, while never on top form, is linking quite capably with a left back he used to playing with, who's providing width and offering all sorts of players with an outlet ball - and replace him with a slow, out of practice strictly defensive midfielder?

stage two of unbalancing the side.

When a poster suggested during the week that Megson goes to 6-3-1 when he gets ahead I honestly thought he was joking.

Now I know better.

And what a predictable and embarrassing outcome.

Sheehan, who'd had a competent and constructive 80 minutes was suddenly hung out to dry...

Central defenders who'd previously been in total command suddenly found people running at them and scoring from 30 yards.

Chambers didn't just struggle n the right wing. He looked like a fish on dry land.

Our attack had all but disappeared and QPR had little to inhibit them.

Why? I can find no excuse.

Gary Megson gifted the opposition two points this afternoon through his idiocy.

Back the bloke? The only thing I'd want to back him with is a high powered elastic band which would fire him out of the earth's atmosphere - as far away from my football club as he might reasonably go.

Agreed and for this...
