He's not bald Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 We played well until Megson started tinkering, bringing on 2 defensive players as wingers.....and we fell apart. There was no outlet to attack so QPR pressed us back. Also why when they equalised did Newton not come on?QPR were poor today, they were there for the taking and we threw it away. I'm worried. Absolutely...we went backwards from the pen...I thought he was supposed to be just watching today!...if it wasn't for his pissing about we would be 2 points better off...sack the prat MM and try again!

He's not bald Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 What a stark example of total managerial imcompetence. You really couldn't make it up. I've no idea why Megson preferred Cort to DeVries - he'd never earned a first team spot on merit. But that decision apart his initial team selection was fine and well able to see off a QPR side which wouldn't win Division One and which was an insult to its teams of the past. City find themselves 1-0 ahead having held the advantage virtually throughout so first session... So why the hell make any changes at all? Why fix what's not broken?. Team changes are supposed to improve a performance. In what way did Megson's team changes even pretend to improve anything? Cambell has won a penalty that gave us the lead and he would have scored but for a brilliant near goalline clearance. So why replace him with a right back and then add further insult by playing that right back on the wing where he's never previously been seen with any seriousness? Stage one of unbalancing a perfectly effective team. Then why take off a second forward - a man who, while never on top form, is linking quite capably with a left back he used to playing with, who's providing width and offering all sorts of players with an outlet ball - and replace him with a slow, out of practice strictly defensive midfielder? stage two of unbalancing the side. When a poster suggested during the week that Megson goes to 6-3-1 when he gets ahead I honestly thought he was joking. Now I know better. And what a predictable and embarrassing outcome. Sheehan, who'd had a competent and constructive 80 minutes was suddenly hung out to dry... Central defenders who'd previously been in total command suddenly found people running at them and scoring from 30 yards. Chambers didn't just struggle n the right wing. He looked like a fish on dry land. Our attack had all but disappeared and QPR had little to inhibit them. Why? I can find no excuse. Gary Megson gifted the opposition two points this afternoon through his idiocy. Back the bloke? The only thing I'd want to back him with is a high powered elastic band which would fire him out of the earth's atmosphere - as far away from my fotball could as he might reasonably go. Thrac..sorry your talking rubbish! A laggy band is not enough...he could still crawl back!
Thracian Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 Thrac..sorry your talking rubbish!A laggy band is not enough...he could still crawl back! You do have a point.
Daggers Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 Think that's putting it a little strong. There wasn't a lot between the teams today. How else can you describe 59% possession other than 'dominating'? Which we did. We never shut up shop and that's why we lost...we need someone other than DJ up front.
He's not bald Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 ! sack the manager after 1 game, are you having a laugh yes of course I am silly! He should never have been given the job in the first place!
Thracian Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 Yeah but Megson didn't pick the team? There was not much wrong with the team - at least until Megson started tinkering with it.
He's not bald Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 There was not much wrong with the team - at least until Megson started tinkering with it. This is serious stuff Thrac..me and you in total agreement...so where do we go from here in your opinion?
lookwhaticando Posted 15 September 2007 Author Posted 15 September 2007 This is serious stuff Thrac..me and you in total agreement...so where do we go from here in your opinion? Thracian made the next step quite clear when he advocated bouncing Megson into space.
Thracian Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 This is serious stuff Thrac..me and you in total agreement...so where do we go from here in your opinion? To buy blindfolds in time for the next match? I certainly wish I'd had one for the closing stages today.

reynard Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 Three reasons we didn't win 1 Our strikers are crap. Stop the DJ love in folks. He should have scored but blew it. 2 Megson decided to try and hold on to a 1-0 lead with 15-20 mins to go resulting in 8 defensive outfield players on the pitch. But this is the way he plays things so we must get used to this, 3 We played carl Cort.

Daggers Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 I did say not a lot and we were the home team. Did you honestly think we looked more like scoring than them? Yes, simply because we were able to sustain control and press - but the sound of frustration around the ground was caused by our ongoing inability to pull the trigger...and it does not negate the fact that we did indeed dominate them for the bulk of the match. ...but we need to sort out our dead ball and attacking options.

brett759 Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 Bored, friendly, unbiased QPR fan here... we we s**t..you wernt much better even though you had more possesion than us we both had some really good chances...we hit the post...u hit the crossbar...we had two very good chances at the end...you had the ball cleared of the line by one of our defenders. At the end of the day i think that a draw was a fair result I liked the look of your left winger...can we have him on loan? thx

Geo V Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 I dont know whether to laugh or cry today. The car broke down en route to the game I we arrived in Leicester at about 220pm when the plan was to get there early and have a beer and a bite to eat before going to the stadium. On the pitch things were all messed up. People can go on about how shite QPR are but on paper they had some decent players paying for them. Loads of people have commented at what a great signing Camp was for them and why we didnt go for him but today he looked absolute shite. We made Sahar look so poor that he got subbed at halftime and decent players like Blackstock. Moore and Leigertwood were made to look crap in general. Our ownfall was twofold. Firstly not taking our chances and killing off QPR who we had dominated until they score from nowhere and secondly, Megsons mindless substitutions that gave QPR the emphasis to go forward and took the wind out of our sails. We never looked in trouble until we brought on players like Kish to defend what we had and took off wide players for defenders and also took of DJ who IMO was having a great second half. Leaving a knackered Cort on so long was also a terrible decision. All in all its another 2 points dropped but to be positive, its another game unbeaten which makes it 5 and by looking at the league table, everyone is beating or especially drawing each other which is making the table look extremely tight.
