Did anyone else think the pitch seemed dead dry today?

Got p***sed went sleep woke up...don't feel any better! that was a million miles away from a promotion winning performance

If we can't beat a team like QPR at home in their current position and they will improve then we should forget all about top six finishes.

Either there is a large collection of football idiots posting here or many of you have a delicious sense of humour !

Megson did NOT pick the team or bench yesterday

Megson did not choose the tactics or alter the team tactics during the game

Megson did not appear to make the substitutions - Rudkin spoke to him when the subs were made.

Megson did NOT tell the team to defend deep or tell or midfield to defend just in front of the back line once we had gone ahead

Megson did shout and gesture continually for the defence to push up and for the midfield to play further up the park once we had gone deep

Megson had probable spent around 2-3 hours MAXIMUM with the players on Friday so his influence was probably nil, he didn't even know MDV's name before he called him on as he had to ask Rudkin before shouting for him to get his tracky off.

Carl Cort was ok. He won nearly everything in the air and considering his lack of football, lasted quite well. For all the so called MDV fans, there were droves of you slagging him off for being useless before he was fit, learn your lesson and await to see if CC can get fit before you declare your short termist/instant success views.

We were not that bad yesterday and are not that far away from being a decent (please note, just decent) team. A couple of good performances and wins will see the confidence rise and see us finishing off teams like QPR.

Give the new manager a chance to have some/any influence at the club before coming up with poorly thought out and ridiculous statements about a man who has PROVEN success at another club, in this division, not that long ago and with a fairly quick turnaround.

Have a little patience and we'll see what the guy can do. I'll be the first to pass judgement if we are still doing what we did yesterday at Christmas but I'm hoping this bloke and his team just might get it right.

Thanks for calling us idiots because I wasn't joking.

Megson did not appear to make the substitutions - Rudkin spoke to him when the subs were made.

So you admit he could have done, either way he would have determined the type of substitution i.e. defenders for forwards and that's what contributed to our downfall.

Megson did shout and gesture continually for the defence to push up and for the midfield to play further up the park once we had gone deep

He can shout all he likes but when you've just altered the team to include 8 defensive players and one of your strikers is knackered then he should not have been surprised if they did fall back. There was no one in the team after the subs keeping their full backs in place.

Megson did not choose the tactics or alter the team tactics during the game

You can't have it both ways either he did coach from the touch line or he didn't.

He was in the technical area the whole game, he cannot abrogate responsibility to Rudkin the type of substitutions were his decisions.

Clemence took set pieces at Palace - we scored 2 goals

Hume takes set pieces - about as effective as farting in a hurricane.

If Megson wasn't in charge or responsible for tactics, substitutions etc - what the f**k was he doing on the touchline? Who are the players meant to taken instructions from if Megson wasn't in charge? It was confusion all round - the OS and most people here said that Rudkin was in charge, but Megson comes along and acts like he was in charge.

It's nonsense to say he had no input yesterday - if that was the case he would've been sitting in the director's box and wouldn't have been anywhere near the touchline. Clearly he had an influence - Rudkin wouldn't have even talked to Megson about any decisions if Megson wasn't involved.

I thought it was Taggart in charge! :D

Hope im wrong(as usual!) but i can see the Taggart/Megson "partnership' causing a commotion.

(May as well throw that into the equation as its all doom and gloom at the moment!) :D

The idiots comment is made as a reflection of the view that our NEW manager,in the space of a few hours with little or no intimate knowledge of the players, who is reliant on the existing caretaker coaching team and has had no time to assess, change or alter anything IS castigated by many who have already decided that he is fooking crap - in which case, yea idiots.

Defender for forwards - ok I'll grant that Chambers coming on so that Hume can go directly upfront rather that wide right could possibly be construed as negative however Chambers has been enthusiastically greeted here as a good attacking right back who plays down the right side with drive, directness and purpose - so don't really accept this was a backward step, and we had already gone deep AS we have consistently over the last 3 seasons.

I don't expect Megson to hide behind Rudkin's substitutions, my point is Megson will not know our playing staff that well, not that many of them are household names after all, and has to rely on advice from existing staff after only having been appointed 48 hours before. That being the case how can people have already decided that Megson is a plonker, it's pathetic to try and post opinions on football tactics etc. whilst making a from the hip decision about a bloke we don't even know.

I am simply saying that everyone needs to have a little patience. Give the new guy some time to stamp his authority on the group of players we have. Let's allow for some input from Frank Burrows who has a very good reputation and from Taggart who should instill some passion and steel in the dressing room. Give Megson theopportunity to bring some loan players in which I'm sure he will and give him a decent period of games to get the team playing.

If he does not produce results then fine, but until then let's temper the negative with a little sensible realism about how Megson could have influenced yesterday.

I agree 100%. I was happy with both substitutions although I would have brought MDV on after an hour or so personally.

Unfortunately the vast majority of posters on here have a simplistic view of this "dropping deep" business, blaming Megson (not Taggart, you'll notice, who knows a hell of a lot more about the players) for bringing on players of the quality of Kishishev and Chambers. These are very good players at this level and should be able to do a job coming on in a situation like that. Personally, although I rate Chambers highly and would have played him at right-back from the start yesterday, I thought he gave their left-sided players far too much time and space when he came on and that was one of the major reasons for our downfall. The buildup for the goal certainly came from that side of the pitch and I'd be interested to see it again on television.

Conceding late goals like that is not a Megson thing, it's a Leicester thing. And actually Megson hit the nail on the head when he said the players don't know how to win games. Sometimes you do need to close a game out when you've only got a one-goal advantage late on and as shown by his promotion seasons with West Brom and their countless 1-0 wins, he is an expert at that. Perhaps given the fullness of time our players will realise that when the opposition are having a good spell, they need to close them down tightly and try and slow down the tempo when in possession. Yesterday and practically every time we have conceded late on in the past, especially at home, it's because we stand off opposition midfielders and fail to keep the ball when we do have it. I think Megson showed with his comments yesterday that we desperately need to improve upon those failings.

For someone who calls people idiots it's bit rich taking the moral highground over some people calling Megson a plonker.

The bottom line is many of us believe that Megson had sufficient input and knowledge to know that we was turning a relatively attacking based team that was in control of the game, having just had a goal disallowed into an 8 man defensive retreat. The one man who did need substituting, Cort was still on the pitch at 90 mins.

Whilst I am as frustrated as everyone else, I think we need to put things into perspective. OK, having Megson on the touchline was a tad confusing for players/fans, and the defensive substitutions were a big mistake (whoever made them). But it was a game we so easily could/should have one. I know that is a common quote for an optimistic City fan, but it's true. I'd much rather have all the possesion and chances and draw 1-1, than play awful and draw 1-1. Because at least it points towards a more positive season.

We played brilliantly for the first 25 minutes. We also stepped it up for the 15 minutes before the penalty (the tempo was raised by the fans). OK, that's only half of the game we played well, but that's a lot better than last season. If only one of: the disallowed goal/DJs cleared off the line/Clemence's screamer, had gone in, the opinion on here and players ratings would have been a lot different.

Porter still hasn't got the confidence to take his man on, Cort should have gone off after 60/70 mins (but he showed when we were playing well, that he can lead the line well when fit - everything good went through him), N'Gotty didn't have his best game, we still need a left back, DJ could (and hopefully will) score a lot more than he is, etc. I'm not saying we were perfect - far from it. I'm not blaming decisions, refs, linesmen (although the one in the 1st half was awful!), luck, etc. We didn't play well enough for 90 mins, and didn't take our chances (especially in the first 25 mins I've already mentioned). We've a long way to go, but I'm fed up with people being so negative.

Another positive for me was Megson's post match rant (it went on for ages on Radio Leicester!). OK, he didn't admit his own mistakes (if it was he who made the subs), but he did admit that we didn't play well enough, made too many errors at 1-0 and conceded that they could have actually won. He also hinted that whilst having some good players, we had some so-so/mediocre ones (I can't remember the exact word he used). This is a breath of fresh air from all the: they're a great bunch of lads rubbish, we've had in the past. There was also no: their goal was a one in a million shot, that will only happen to us once this season (after the 10th screamer in a row that we have conceded!)

Lets get behind Megson. He deserves a chance. O'Neill still holds a grudge against the fans who stayed behind to force him out after a poor start, I'd never want that to happen again. With MM in charge it's a win-win situation; Megson does well - great. Megson does rubbish - he goes.

Sorry to rant, but I needed to get it all out!!

I'm not taking the moral high ground DavieG, I'm just suggesting that it's idiotic to assert that yesterday and the lack of a win was down to the new manager......it was not and therefore those that make decisions at this stage as to the capability of Megson are, as a result of idiotic and baseless statements, idiots - hardly a word to cause great offence unless the nanny state has taken us all to the asylum.

The "retreat" had already occurred by the time substitutes were put on. I suspect they were told to try and take the other players up the pitch 10 yards or so but failed to do so. Maybe we should ask why the captain and other experienced players didn't recognise the need to do so.

Yes I agree that Cort was knackered and should have been off the pitch after 70 minutes but he was a minor part of the reason for a retreat and not the cause. Again I'm just saying that the assertion that Megson is a plonker based on yesterday and his lack of time at the club is just daft.

Whilst I'm at it, the people who have come to the conclusion that Cort is useless, grow up.

He performed ok yesterday winning nearly all the aerial ball and his contribution WILL improve as he gets match fit (assuming he can stay free from injury) so lay off him and don't make him into the next boo boys target - they are dimwits (just want to get all these nasty names out of my system :D )

By the way I have always said that MDV would be ok if he could get properly fit and we actually played football that suited him rather that the hoofball that he had to suffer under CL's reign.

For goodness sake let's just give Megson some time.

exactly...

this is a very tight division that no one is likely to truly dominate (c'mon - bristol and cov, anyone?) and LCFC is a team that has been knocked all over th place off the field in the last few months - yet we've lost one league game from 6, undefeated in 5, on another day the disallowed goals might have stood... so we conceeded a speculative goal out of nowhere, and weren't in a position to respond, won't be the last time either.

megson is a poor scapegoat here - there were 11 players on the field when we were one nil up, and 11 when the game ended - all of them were capable of either defending the lead or extending it.

sounds like they either got confused or bottled it. you can't be a proffesional footballer and think 'oh, that's an odd substitution, i'm gonna play shit' - the 11 men on the filed (whoever they may be) are responsible for the matchday performance, the manager can only influence, if he does what is perceived as a bad job that doesn't mean the players should give up.

What an anti climax to a promising game for us it wasn't a great game but QPR never looked like scoring & we were unlucky to be only 1-0 up then typical Megson when there was no need brings on a defender (chambers) & a defensive midfielder(kishishev) & we all of a sudden started defending very deep & looked out of shape we basically gifted them a point & were lucky it was only the 1 after the last 15 minutes we didn't have a player in there half :(

I was saying to my mate before the game half in jest that if we were 1 up half hour before the end Megson would switch to a 6-4-0 formation & wasn't at all suprised when he did!

I had to laugh or i'd have cried on the way home as my mate kept saying how the script i predicted was played out now im just hoping for a miracle as Megson is not gonna learn his lesson anytime soon!

The future all of a sudden doesn't look bright but it certainly does look orange lol:cry:

p.s Ive missed the highlights on the championship is there anywhere i can watch them yet?

He didn't take the half time talk.

I thought Levi Porter was class today always looking to atack and take his man on. Everyone got stuck in well today to be honest.

Megson didn't pick the initial 11 but every decision after the whistle was his & were typical Megson tactics as i said before!

As for Levi Porter he can run he can beat the occasional man but his end product was p!ss poor a few times yesterday he got me ready to stand only to fluff it up

When a poster suggested during the week that Megson goes to 6-3-1 when he gets ahead I honestly thought he was joking. Now I know better.

Yeah That was me & it pains me to say as you now know i was not joking

Unfortunately im well schooled on all things Megson

I did say not a lot and we were the home team.

Did you honestly think we looked more like scoring than them?

Well It seems you're still calling me an idiot based on my opinion of what happened I find that as offensive as you seem to be offended by someone calling Megson a plonker. I believe that Megson cocked up yesterday, the evidence all points that way, that does not mean I'm not prepared to see what he does next time out.

I just wish that people would get the message that it's not a choice between sycophancy and hatred, you can support people and make constructive criticism. I've explained why I think he was wrong.

As for the retreat already happening, well I'd disagree but even if it had his job is to counteract it not exacerbate it. A simple replacement of Cort who was clearly suffering would have put their defence under more pressure and relieved ours.

Perhaps this is all just a reflection on our different beliefs I believe that if we're attacking we're not defending, if you don't have attackers on the pitch, we were left with one Hume, in effect you will inevitably end up defending. If your defending more than your attacking logic tells you that you're more likely to concede a goal. A situation we have seen more than enough of thank you very much.

There is no defending Megson's tactics.

As for Cort he demonstrated again yesterday that he is still not fully fit and should not have been considered. We did that sort of thing last season and it never worked. Cort had done nothing in the Reserves to justify a first team place and the best he should have had was a place on the bench as I said during the week.

In other words we made another illogical and unnecessary error.

If we are srious about winning football matches - and sometimes I wonder - then a fundamental requirement is to play with a team full of fit players, not people who can last two thirds of a game..
