Fez of Mahrez Posted 3 October 2007 Posted 3 October 2007 To Megson - stop playing him in central midfield. It's not doing the team any good, it's not doing us any good, it's not doing the fans any good and it's not doing you any good. To the fans - get off his back, yes he's been poor there but it's not his position. He's one of the best right-backs in the division but at the moment I fear he's going to go the way of Maybury who once upon a time himself looked one of the best right-backs in the division. Then he was shunted all round the team from left-back to right-wing and back again and his career has been ruined. The same looked like it might happen to Stearman. Keep the faith? We're in it together? One team one dream? At the moment it'd be more accurate to say Leicester City Football Club - don't bother coming here if you want to make anything of your career.
Ric Flair Posted 3 October 2007 Posted 3 October 2007 We're this years Leeds, re-arranging the chairs won't make much difference. Already looking forward to the 0-0 draw's in the Johnston & Paint Trophy next year, big chance for us in that.

Indeed. Agree with every word. I wonder how Clemence feels having left a promoted side for another one bound for the Premiership. Ermm... maybe sometime.

I do agree in general. But I don't see what other option he had last night. But we're down to the bare bones in that position, who else could of played there? Hellings, and he must be the worst graduate of the Ajax academy ever if he can't get into our squad.

We must have the worst ever Champions League winner, the worst ever highly-rated International and the worst ever product of the Ajax academy on our books then.
Koke Posted 3 October 2007 Posted 3 October 2007 In all fairness, what other alternatives do Megson have in that position? Its outrageous though. I think it was Barber who was saying on Monday that we had a squad of 40 players!! And this is the best we can do in the midfield?

We were playing him there before Clemence got injured though - and he was off the bench at Forest to play there when Weso went off injured.

Yeah I know Fez, as I said in general there is no excuse and I do agree but last night, we were struggling. When everyones fit it should Kish Clemance and Weso or possibly (deep breath) Andy King. I think we can forget Kaebi or Ferrira playing there anytime soon.
Geo V Posted 3 October 2007 Posted 3 October 2007 GM managed Chambers for about 4 years at WBA including two promotion seasons so must know his strengths and weaknesses but for me, he shouldn't be anywhere near the central midfield position. We are wasting the talents of some of our players by playing them out of position and the sooner that GM works tha out the better. Unfortunately the knock-on effect on players under-performing out of position has been evident because Hume doesnts look as confidence since returning to attack and Chambers is not the player we saw at the start of the season. Kishishev at times covering on the left isnt his role either.
Milky Posted 3 October 2007 Posted 3 October 2007 Megson turned away in disgust quite a few times last night when Chambers made a mistake. It should be the last time. Hopefully. Pretty please.

Chairman of the Bored Posted 3 October 2007 Posted 3 October 2007 Did someone mention Maybury? It's never too late to bring him back you know.
Ultra Posted 3 October 2007 Posted 3 October 2007 He came on as sub at Villa. And even with his limitations, he has more creativity than most of last night's line-up.
Manwell Pablo Posted 3 October 2007 Posted 3 October 2007 Alan Maybury was a cracking right back, who has played Premier League Champions League and UEFA cup football. He was a bargin at 50k. We ruined him.

ronnup Posted 3 October 2007 Posted 3 October 2007 Sure i've heard Newton played some good games in centre mid for reserves. If he's got a woody for Chambers, play him at right wing back where he can run about like a twat and give Newton , who is definately a better passer, a chance in the middle. .
Geo V Posted 3 October 2007 Posted 3 October 2007 When does Elvis return? We need his clever pacy runs and match-winning goals to steer us up the table.

Staf Posted 3 October 2007 Posted 3 October 2007 Chambers is one the most frustrating player i have ever watched
Leonisco Posted 3 October 2007 Posted 3 October 2007 What once upon a time was that? Chambers is far better than that useless ****! His first half-season after he'd joined from Hearts. He looked a cracking player then. I disagree that his career's ruined though, I'm sure he still has the talent, he was just de-motivated after Kelly messed him about playing him anywhere but his natural position.

What once upon a time was that? Chambers is far better than that useless ****! It's an interesting debate and I'm not 100% sure of the answer. Maybury was highly regarded at one stage and has gradually seemed to lose his sharpness and, with it, some of his motivation. Sometimes, as against Oadby and Cambridge pre-season, he looked worse than woeful. However, in the reserves lately he has played quite a positive role at times especially with his passing from the the flanks which has quite surprised me. Chambers is quick to close people down defensively but just doesn't seem to have have the ball control, the awareness, the strength or the speed of pass to make an impression going forwards from midfield. It's still early days for Chambers of course but at this stage I'm not sure either have enough of what we need.
