Ultra Posted 12 October 2007 Posted 12 October 2007 I must confess I expected a bigger shout from representatives of the Government supporting "this is how you'll live or else" advocates. Perhaps it's just the wrong day. Or the fact that GB won't face a GB election right now anyway or even a GB referendum on the European Constitution. So what does it matter? In fact does GB give a shit about what GB wants or just what he GB wants? The man is a manipulator, an accomplished illusionist and a control freak of the worst kind. Why anyone, even the traditionally supportive working classes, would vote for the highest taxes in modern history is beyond me. And it's not as if people are told about the all these taxes in a straightforward manner. There's always some sleight of hand. Truly I detest Party politics. It's like voting for the lesser of perceived evils instead of for people you really have faith in to serve the country and all of its people. People who have achieved things, done something worthy in their lives, set standards and earned respect. But then I've never really been a political person. I don't vote and I certainly don't like being led by any politician, especially ones made popular by their misguided activist pals on the provenly biased voicebox called the BBC. And when I look at so many of the ill-conceived decisions made by our politicians in recent years, the obscene waste of lives, the squandering of resources that could have been far better utilised, the constant monitoring of every aspect of our lives, the shameful dictating of even how we should live, the turning of virtually everyone into a potential criminal, the legalised theft of people's hard-earned money through ever-increasing mountains of petty legislation, and so much more, there's no way I plan to change. British politics, at least at national level, has become shamelessly debased in the last thirty years. All the main parties deliberately pander to the most shallow, fickle and superficial sections of society. However, while the Labour Party continues to contain elements who remain committed to defending working-class people, I will continue to give it my backing.
MPH Posted 12 October 2007 Posted 12 October 2007 on a side note... i'd happily pay an extra penny in the pound income tax if it meant more money for schools & hospitals. Either that or they could slash the money going to the Army right now....
Webbo Posted 12 October 2007 Posted 12 October 2007 However, while the Labour Party continues to contain elements who remain committed to defending working-class people, I will continue to give it my backing.
Daggers Posted 12 October 2007 Posted 12 October 2007 ... a control freak of the worst kind. How many types of control freak are there? All the main parties deliberately pander to the most shallow, fickle and superficial sections of society. It's easy to see how you can commit your support to one of them then.
FilboFox Posted 13 October 2007 Author Posted 13 October 2007 Keep voting... this would then actually be a credible poll to see what everyone on here thinks... Then we could actually compare this one to the other polls that have been done and see if it is a true reflection...
lookwhaticando Posted 13 October 2007 Posted 13 October 2007 Are you being serious!?! Am I ever not serious?
FilboFox Posted 13 October 2007 Author Posted 13 October 2007 The poll needs to be changed. It should have the abstaining bit removed so that the percentages are a true reflection of the board and people who don't wish to vote shouldn't on this poll as well... can somebody do that?
lookwhaticando Posted 14 October 2007 Posted 14 October 2007 I take it you don't approve of my choice? Oh and I removed the abstain option... though the four votes are still included in the total vote count (nothing I can do about that). So the percentages are off a little (although that won't be too much of an issue if the poll gets popular as the estimated values will approach the true values as the number of votes increases... as you very well know already).
FilboFox Posted 14 October 2007 Author Posted 14 October 2007 Great! Thanks very much... can you not re-set the poll and get people to vote again... that would be wonderful... Percentages seem to have changed though...
Phube Posted 14 October 2007 Posted 14 October 2007 Scary this seems to be going with the National polls after the conferences!! And I thought they were always crap!!
FilboFox Posted 14 October 2007 Author Posted 14 October 2007 Scary this seems to be going with the National polls after the conferences!!And I thought they were always crap!! Well obviously not... I guess people just tend to be led by them... but you have to admit that Brown hasn't done much to help labour's votes so far has he...
lookwhaticando Posted 14 October 2007 Posted 14 October 2007 Actually... I was wrong... the percentages are on the button... they're accurate. It's just the total vote count that's wrong.
FilboFox Posted 14 October 2007 Author Posted 14 October 2007 Actually... I was wrong... the percentages are on the button... they're accurate. It's just the total vote count that's wrong. Ah! Thats good then!
Steven Posted 14 October 2007 Posted 14 October 2007 Actually... I was wrong... the percentages are on the button... they're accurate. It's just the total vote count that's wrong. ... and reflects a recent opinion poll. Why the count discrepancy?
Daggers Posted 14 October 2007 Posted 14 October 2007 Why the count discrepancy? Bloody politicians massaging the figures, I'll be bound.
lookwhaticando Posted 15 October 2007 Posted 15 October 2007 Bloody politicians massaging the figures, I'll be bound. They paid me good money to go massage those figures. Should have seen the disappointment on some of their faces when they realized they were numerical figures. I'm looking at you, Messers Blunkett, Mellor and Archer.
Daggers Posted 15 October 2007 Posted 15 October 2007 Do you really need to ask... I'm ****ed if I'm voting for a party that gets some kid to do its logo. It looks nothing like a tree. Just imagine the mess it would have been if the Tories had organised the Olympics logo...hang on, they did and it was!
