Yes, but a minus plus a minus also equals a plus

e.g.

8 - - 2 = 10

8 + 2 = 10

I swear you were on here a couple of months ago expecting to breeze through your GCSE's

Minus numbers tend to have a - sign in fronmt of them

8 minus -2 does actually equal 10

I suggest you read his post again and see what he was aiming for.. ;)

That they do Paul, that they do. Funny ain't it when people try to correct others and get it wrong. :P

lol I was thinking if you had a number 8 that had previously had 2 taken away then you took that -2 back you would then be back with 10

Am i losing the plot lol

Now I'm a fine one to talk, because I cock things up (massively) all the time... but this just takes the piss.

Honestly, back to class with the lot of you.

School 'til 18 looks like a better idea with each passing day.:whistle:

Manchester Evening News - Cool Cash Card Confusion

You silly, silly woman.

Worrying, infuriating and hilarious.

Peter Hall, of the Association of Teachers of Mathematics, said: "The concept of minus numbers is something we would cover with 11 or 12 year olds, and we would expect them to have come across it before.

11 or 12 until minus numbers are taught.

It's hard to decide which thread makes me smile more, this one, or the one with everybody's stories about stupid work colleagues/uni mates etc. :D

Here's a good one.

Darren (sorry if you're reading).

A girl I knew at uni was scared of the sea. She ate prawns though. I asked once why she did this since she feared the sea and everything which came from it and she said 'prawns grow on bushes don't they'?

She had a number of classics. My favourite was when she asked me if Edward Scissorhands was real.

My ex-girlfriend has a degree in Geography (human Geography).

She would regularly asking me where countries were on a map (like obvious ones - Scotland, Ireland, Wales, France) and what was the Capital of Africa or what is the capital of Europe. She didn't understand North, South, East, West and thought that wherever you were, North was always in front of you, East to your right etc. Her numeracy was so bad that she couldn't even work the 10 times table and her spelling so poor that her writings were often incomprehensible.

Of course, none of this is really a crime until you consider that she is now a primary school teacher. There are going to be a lot of people who can't spell, add up or read a map in Maidstone in years to com... ah.

It's a sad state of affairs. There a whole lot of dumb people about.

Someone should pay me a wad of money. I can add up... I can spell... the list is practically endless.
