Anybody else just see a clip of him on BBC 1?? He didn't look as if he was praying to me!!!

lol The jurys still out for me but he doesn't seem to be doing much of note :dunno: & he certainly isn't the most charismatic character.

I wouldn't mind him if he wasn't so full of shit. Hate labour so much. Wasted so much money in 10 years and now they reckon we need change - basically an admittance that they've wasted 2 terms in government.

Anyway. Don't get me started.

I don't approve of our unelected leader. End of.

Pretty much three terms, when you think about it. Especially as all that mention of "change" was in the run up to the election that wasn't.:D

Yeh I bet you can't wait for Cameron to take over when all you'll have to worry about is where next mortgage payment is coming from or when that operation you've been waiting over a year for takes place!

Life was so much better under the tories don't you think?

Probably go down in history as another Michael Foot despite him not wearing a donkey jacket that day. Anything is better than all that image crap of Blair and Cameron. What a shallow, squalid little country we have become if this is all we have to complain about.

.......................and who says crime doesn't pay!

Jonathan Aitken has been given a job by the tories to improve the prison service :o Well I suppose 7 months inside should qualify him for that!

All we need now is Ian Huntley being given the job of improving child care and we're almost there

You may well roll your eyes at that comment but I'm confused as to where exactly Monk said life was so much better under the Tories.

A Labour hater does not a Tory make.

Or something.

Like it or not, in the UK only one of two parties are ever likely to lead the government.

Therefore if you criticise the one it will be assumed you're in support of the other.

I didn't see anything in Monk's posts to convince me that he's anything other than a Tory..

Don't try and imply he's some sort of dictator. He isn't.

The constitution allows for the majority party in the House of Commons to change its leader without the need for a general election. And it has happened on several previous occasions (most notably when Maggie Thatcher quit) - more often under a Tory government than a Labour one.

That's a weak argument.

What if I criticise both of them. Many people I know wouldn't want to lend their support to either party. Right now that would also include me.

That's not a crime....yet.

The only good thing this government has proved is that glib remedies and throwing money at a problem tend to make things worse not better.

The sooner we're rid of these half baked wankers the better.

Hello. Nice to know you've been discussing my political stance in my absence.

I am a Tory, much as I hate to say it. I know they're hardly world beaters at the moment but they couldn't do much worse than Labour. I was brought up in Rutland - a Tory area. Whilst I know that they have been no hopers for 15 years or so, they are finally coming out with some decent policies.

My comment about Gordon Brown I guess was partly about his character/way he comes across, but mainly because I'm sick to death of lies, false promises and just policies which were generally crap before they even got an opportunity to cock them up.

People rave on about gordo as a great chancellor - the only good thing he did was to fool people into thinking they were paying less tax when they are in fact paying more, and to hand over the management of interest rates to the BofE (wish he'd stop taking credit for the decisions they've made as well!)

With the best will in the world that utter crap... simplistic, scare mongering, wrong headed, vindictive, uninformed bullsh*t.

Sorry to be harsh about, but despite Lamont's c*ck-ups in 92/93, that was more than a decade ago, and wasn't the result of any policy that was different from what Labour at the time were advocating, and it's hardly as though Labour's had much to write home about over the last decade or so when you think about the massive amounts of money its had to play with... we'll disagree on all this i know, but it always infuriates me when Labour supporters throw out stuff like "Tories will destroy the NHS" or "they'll wreck the economy" etc... i might as well say "Labour will cripple public services with multi tiered bureaucracy and targets" and "bring in the unions and special interests in the formulation of government policy" of wait a sec...
