Manwell Pablo Posted 4 December 2007 Posted 4 December 2007 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...sea/7126377.stm Chelsea winger Florent Malouda has branded English football as "brainless" and rated players' diets as awful. The 27-year-old, who signed from Lyon for £13m in the summer, said: "Training sessions are terrifying. They are maximum intensity, and you go flat out. "During actual matches, it is as though everybody's brains are switched off. People play by instinct, how they did when they first discovered football." He is amazed players can eat "whatever you like, drink Coke or anything". "It is a good job I have come over here at the age of 27 and so have not been following the same diet as the rest of the club's players," he added. 606: DEBATE Do you agree with Malouda's comments? The France international has been out of action for a month with a knee injury but appears less than enthusiastic about returning for the busy Christmas fixture schedule. He said: "I have been warned about the Christmas periods in English football. They sound terrible." Did dums
lookwhaticando Posted 4 December 2007 Posted 4 December 2007 Plank. If you don't like the football, when will you be leaving for a place that plays 'better' football? He won't, of course, because the pay here is enough to console him after a hard day on the training ground and down the chippy with John and Frank - so it's all just words. I can't imagine he'd say all this and then not move away if he was only on a grand a week.
Finnegan Posted 4 December 2007 Posted 4 December 2007 Yup. Biggest league on the planet. Load of shit, Florent, isn't it? Come play in the League of Wales, lad, you'll love the diet there.
Staf Posted 4 December 2007 Posted 4 December 2007 If you dont like it go back to the french league Why does he feel that he needs to complain no other players who come from foreign leagues do
hairy Posted 4 December 2007 Posted 4 December 2007 I totally agree with him Football should be far more like chess, it would make it much more interesting and players should be force fed proper food. As for them being brainless..........I rest my case.

Simi Posted 7 December 2007 Posted 7 December 2007 I'm afraid so He'd be so proud of himself. But at the same gutted he didn't get to use it himself.
Matt Posted 28 December 2007 Posted 28 December 2007 Here's another one; Rolando Bianchi, the Manchester City striker, has said that he is missing his home country of Italy and wants to make a return to Serie A.Bianchi, who arrived at Eastlands from Reggina in the summer but has been limited to substitute appearances for much of the season, has found it hard to adjust to life in England. "I am learning the language but I have raised the white flag with English food. I don't like it," he said. When asked about the perceived drinking culture in the English game, Bianchi said: "I think I am the only teetotaller in the whole Premier League. My team-mates were surprised when I refused a mouthful of beer. "They looked at me as if I was an extra-terrestrial. Tastes are tastes, and I have chosen for some time - no beer, no wine, no alcopops." It is not just the beer and food that Bianchi has found hard to swallow - he also has had problems with the English referees. "I have had to get used to the referees. Here it's hard for a striker," he said. "In Italy if a defender touches you the referee blows. In the Premier League you don't get a free-kick even if the defender runs you over. I am getting used to this new refereeing rhythm." And Bianchi said that a return to Italy was on the horizon. "I will be back soon for a simple reason. My dream is to wear the national team jersey. Playing abroad won't help me." However, Bianchi does feel affection for Manchester City's loyal supporters. "They made a song just for me with the words of Volare by Domenico Modugno and it's good to hear that rising to the heavens in Italian," he said.
