janner Posted 7 December 2007 Posted 7 December 2007 A quick look on your own board and i can see its not all plymouth fans are as dimwitted as you... at least someone got it right... Tringreen is one of the most negative posters on pasoti. Without any disrespect, I seriously wouldn't accept his point of view as some sort of nostradamus-esque vision of the future... Next thing you know you'll be quoting Freathy. It's all irrelevant anyway. David Norris and some of the other senior players (Paul Wotton, Luke McCormick, Paul Connolly) encouraged the board to reappoint Paul Sturrock. He is loyal to that manager. I believe he sat down with the board to discuss a contract renewal which will take him beyond his current 2 years, following Sturrock's appointment. Like I say, if you think our players are clamouring to join Leicester...or think Leicester City is half as much of a massive club as you do, you're pretty mistaken.

Next thing you know you'll be quoting Freathy. ahh, so now its your own posters who are wrong not just ours? just our of intrest, you would prefer to keep players whos heart is not in the club and are not trying their best? You would happily pay yours ( or someone elses) hard earned money so his wages will be met? I think thats basically what his point was..
janner Posted 7 December 2007 Posted 7 December 2007 I'm sure I could find a poster on here who recognises that Leicester aren't likely to be cherry picking Argyle's best players for peanuts in January. Especially to the most unpopular person in Plymouth since Margaret Thatcher. Think about it mate. If you've got enough money then good on you, but these players won't be leaving for anything less than £2m each. All this talk of coming in and poaching Ebanks Blake, Seip, Halmosi, Gosling, Timar etc. for a few million quid...is more pie in the sky than reality. All this talk of our players handing in transfer requests in January to fight a relegation battle is a little disillusioned too. I'm not denying that Holloway will build your club into a promotion force, but he's not going to raid a former club of all its assets on the cheap, and he's not going to do it overnight. Especially with a bunch of players that lost a lot of respect for him in the manner that he left.

With the greatest of respect, you're not really much of a bigger club. If every football fan had to put a tenner on a club getting to the Prmeiership in the next three years, Plymouth Argyle would be the favourite. We are clearly a bigger club. Ollie wouldnt be here otherwise. take a look at our turnover, size of stadium, wages we pay, ect if you have any doubts... Do i think we are a massive club? now i have never said that and you are twisting things if you believe i said that - you are more than welcome to search for a quote on what i have said if you think you can find one of me saying we are a massive club.

Thracian Posted 7 December 2007 Posted 7 December 2007 Right Back United...Stearman Chambers N'Gotty McAuley Maybury Kenton Kaebi Ollie is right about that. That is a lot of players capable of playing one position and I'm sure I have missed someone off. It's amusing to stretch the point I admit. But I hope Ollie doesn't seriously think McAuley and Kaebi are right-backs.

TBF, and I don't like to side with you () but it's true, I think we may attempt to take some of your players and may even succeed with one or two but as you said the moment Leicester come sniffing you can almost double Plymouth's asking price, And even though Plymouth's players have twice the ability Leicester's current crock of shit are, with the over-inflated price Plymouth will be asking you have to ask the question for the money Plymouth will be demanding could we get better players for the money? Although on the other hand if we make some offers for Plymouth players and they really do want to join up with Ollie then Plymouth will have some unhappy players on there hands...And what the point in having players that are unhappy and don't want to be at the club anymore? They may aswell let them go...That still doesn't mean we'd get those players without paying a big price. But, we could actually fuk Plymouth up even more by making a bid for a few of there players, Plymouth will turn us down, The players who we've bid for will then be unhappy and not want to be a Plymouth anymore, Leicester say fine well you've had your chance we'll go elsewhere for players, then Plymouth have players playing poorly and will fuk there season up... But now i'm just rambling so i'll click the button that says "Add Reply".
Koke Posted 7 December 2007 Posted 7 December 2007 I will never condone the sort of football which destroys the game as a spectacle. If football were played behind closed doors it wouldn't matter. But professional football is a commercial game and massive stadia are there for the simple purpose of presenting football as entertainment for paying fans. Managers and chairmen have a responsibility for what they put before those fans in terms of footballing enterprise and if they choose to ignore that responsibility they get what they deserve. There will always be times when it's tempting to be cautious for various reasons. But to field nine defenders in a game which the authorities are desperate to keep attractive is denying the spirit of the whole exercise. Others may accept it. They may even justify it in various ways. But I never will. To me going out with the intention of killing the game is just putting two fingers up at the public. I never played like that, never managed like that, never coached like that and will never utter one word to excuse such negativity. I didn't go to Burnley and neither did you Thrac. But Ollie has a fierce reputation for playing good football. So what if the odd games here and there are ultra defensive. I'm not advocating defensive football but I'm sure Ollie had his motives the other night in Burnley.

I'll save you the effort - i don't think we'll bother poaching yr players - plenty elsewhere... & IH is not gonna be restricted to CCC players, plenty of frees around, & we have some budget for salaries too. the thing is, it's not just about money, it's about fans, stadia, facilities, we had the best youth team in England last sason... look at the bigger picture lads...

It wasn't bad football at times under Holloway, but it was hardly like watching Brazil either. I remember a home match against Leeds which we played the most atrocious long ball football ever, it was much worse than Holloway's predecessor Tony Pulis. When Holloway came to Argyle, QPR fans were on our forums saying he played hoofball 4-5-1 formations, and good riddance he was gone. And now they've got that Luigi Di Canio, they're not looking back. I wouldn't say Holloway has a reputation for Arsene Wenger style passing and movement. At QPR he was a long ball manager, at Argyle a lot of our attacks came from hopeful punts at the back from defenders. I wouldn't go expecting him to be the next Brian Clough.

He wasn't given much at Plymouth ands till got you playing some good stuff. at QPR he was given Paul Furlong and Mark Nygaard and **** all else, what did they expect balls to feet?
Daz.I Posted 7 December 2007 Posted 7 December 2007 haha this interviews cracking he's just slated the team for 3 minutes basically. Might give them a kick up the arse, hopefully. can see him brining quality in, in januaryand pushing us up the table, we're gonna do a sunderland mark my words.
MADLEVEIN Posted 8 December 2007 Posted 8 December 2007 just a question to the boring plymouth fans who cant seem to get the message, i will put it in everyday terms. in any occupation and whoever you work for, if somebody else offers you more money to do the same job, you will accept it simple as that, im a joiner i get paid enough money each week but if another company offered me an extra £50 a week then i would accept it, and join them. that is all it boils down to at the end of the day, so just accept it and move on. im sure your better players, if holloway wants them, get offered a thousand pound more a week contract to play football in leicester instead of plymouth they would rip his hand off. and as for us "falling for holloways quotes and funny remarks" what does that mean ? the man has said he wants to take this club forward, if he does it then fair enough if he dont then someone else will. i wont lose any sleep if he decides to leave for a bigger club (forest ) its happened to us before and will happen again. i sturrock took plymouth on a promotion winning run then waved a magic wand and kept you in the premier league do you honestly think no-body would come knocking at the door with the chequebook open for his services ??? holloway is our manager now. get a life !!!!
