Stevosevic Posted 13 December 2007 Posted 13 December 2007 http://www.teamtalk.com/football/story/0,1...2966131,00.html Race for Crewe's Roberts hots up Bolton, Wigan and four Championship clubs are reportedly in the hunt to sign Crewe's highly-rated midfielder Gary Roberts. The 20-year-old is a lynchpin in Alexandra's midfield having made over 80 apperances - but he is understood to have shunned their offer of a new deal. Roberts penned a three-year deal last summer but he looks unlikely to sign an extension with the interest in him growing. The Trotters, Latics, Leicester, Plymouth, Ipswich and QPR are amongst the sides thought to have been impressed with Roberts in recent months. The Chester-born youngster could now emerge as a target in the January transfer window - although Crewe would be loathe to lose one of their prize assets midway through the season. However, Crewe are also only too aware of how they have lost the likes of Billy Jones and Michael Higdon for little or no money, after their contracts expired last summer.
The People's Hero Posted 13 December 2007 Posted 13 December 2007 Leicester, Plymouth and QPR. It'd make sense. Penrice and Holloway have obviously left their scouting notes lying around. Either that or it's lazy lazy journalism.

Staf Posted 13 December 2007 Posted 13 December 2007 Sounds like a good player but surely he will go to a premiership club than us
Brainy Posted 13 December 2007 Posted 13 December 2007 If it's true, he'd surely go to Wigan? Not all players choose to join the biggest club you know. I imagine he'd go somewhere he has the chance of getting regular first team football.

Good point i suppose i would rather play 1st team football in the championship than be a sub in the premiership

MPH Posted 13 December 2007 Posted 13 December 2007 If it's true, he'd surely go to Wigan? it all depends... Bench warmer or first team regular. Who knows what people prefer these days.... I, of course, am of the opinion that he is of the age where he needs regular first team football.

Master Fox Posted 17 December 2007 Posted 17 December 2007 With the opening of the transfer window just around the corner, we can expect an increase of added speculation and guff to flood through the forum. I'd thought I'd be the first to get some of these responses in nice and early, so it's time for a ............. 'Yes Please' Or 'Yes Please Milan'
