Fez of Mahrez Posted 17 December 2007 Posted 17 December 2007 Flavio's the answer. Her Argentine Tango was certainly very creative but I'm not sure she has the right build for Championship football.

teblin Posted 17 December 2007 Posted 17 December 2007 Are we able to call Kish back as he has to be better than some we have playing?
Thracian Posted 17 December 2007 Posted 17 December 2007 It's a lot easier to look busy and committed when you're spoiling the game and trying to win through set pieces.I still think Holloway will get it right given the opportunity to build the sort of squad we should have assembled in the summer. Anyone and everyone has struggled with our squad from Megson to Allen and everyone in between. The team he put out on Saturday is pretty much what everyone would play. Stearman was dropped. King played. Sheehan played. N'Gotty was back in. You might generally make one or two alterations but the personnel is more or less correct. They're just the best we can put out and they're practically all either off-form or not good enough. This is more of a general post than a specific reply. I am finding it difficult to get my head round some people's thinking. I'd go back to what Allen was producing anytime compared with the dross we've been getting lately - and that includes the Blackpool match where at least we created over 20 chances in getting beaten. Three goals in five matches is not my idea of football, Fez. You are right about the personnel generally but we are still using a system that pretends we have wingers. We don't. Even Hayes is just a makeweight really. Allen didn't use a winger against Watford and, because we lack both pace and penetration, Allen and Megson were right to identify that our best chance of goals was to get some big blokes in the box and use Sheehan's left-foot and free kicks to cause havoc. Holloway hasn't done that. Even Saturday he took Sheehan off before bringing on the strikers who, combined with our centre-backs might have made a difference. Using first Kaebi then Fryatt out wide was nonsense.
davieG Posted 17 December 2007 Posted 17 December 2007 I actually disagree. I think that telling the players they have 4 games to save themselves from being relegated to the reserves and replaced with better players is all the motivation one should need. Now we'll see which ones really care. Its all about desire, and who wants it most at this stage, and from what i can gather at Hull, they wanted it more. So we will see. As I didn't say he shouldn't have said it I'm not sure what you're disagreeing with. I questioned the motivational aspects of doing it publically. The motivational aspect is suspect anyway because salary wise it makes no difference to them and if they are not with Holloway in the first place this wont get them onside, true it might piss then off but that work against as well as for you.. We need them to be pulling together now because his desire to get new players in wont resolve our imediate problems of 3 games before then. Even after January everyone including Ollie is assuming he will definitely get new 'better' players and that they will be successful.
The Reverend Posted 17 December 2007 Posted 17 December 2007 First team seniors don't get relegated to the reserves unless they want to from anything I've seen. And I don't see why the reserves would want them. Douglas hardly ever played for the reserves, Newton's played twice I think, Sylla twice perhaps. It's always seemed more like a voluntary arrangement. And if they don't want to play for Holloway I don't suppose playing for the reserves will alter their attitude anyway. Try and imagine how you'd be thinking if your boss announced to the world that he thought you were rank and was going to replace you at the earliest opportunity? It ain't the way to get folk to die for you. And that was something that was there under Megson. All the players looked busy and committed. They knew what was required of them and did they level best to deliver. We were a long way off that at Hull. To be honest, if i knew my boss thought that, i'd think **** i better pull my finger out my arse before my career at this club is over, because its clear to me that the effort isnt there.

Using first Kaebi then Fryatt out wide was nonsense. I'd agree with all of that really. I've always been up for the 3-5-2 as long as the wing-backs are given licence to get forward and someone like King or Hume is given a central midfield role with free licence to join the attack. 4-4-2 only works if you've got a gameplan of how to attack and score goals, something we haven't had since Micky Adams.
Dr The Singh Posted 17 December 2007 Posted 17 December 2007 Two new coats, I know it's the sales but that's a bit extravagant you could spend some of it on a Match Day Ticket.......... err perhaps not - 2 coats it is then.
Hullfox Posted 17 December 2007 Posted 17 December 2007 I'm glad Holloway is saying what he's saying. If he'd announced that we would be redoubling our efforts on the training ground he would have been crucified. The time for fannying about has ended. Tell them as it is and let's see how much they want to play for our club. We've tip toed around these premadonnas for far too long now and it's time they woke up to reality. Too many of us put too much of our hard earned towards paying these idiots and I for one have had enough. The least I expect from them now is 100% effort. That in itself would be a major improvement.
