blue blood Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 ollie has the **** balls to do something about this lcfc team and for that i take my hat off to him. We are looking to buy a blank canvas to draw a new painting on. We should have done this years ago but since Levin none of the managers have never sewn seeds that would come into frutition for another managers reigns. We have always stuck a plaster on a cancer and the cancer will never get better by doing that. Now we are deciding to amputate. Even if ollie is out by the end of the season he will have got us our blank canvas. I look forward to seeing what picture is painted on the canvas.
Mark Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 Where does Lee Cox play? He's been brought into the first team squad this week. I thought he was a right back but hoping not as we've more than enough cover there

I thought he was a right back but hoping not as we've more than enough cover there I thought he was a right back and imagined from looking at some line-ups in the past that he's predominately played right back for LCFC at whichever level.

The People's Hero Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 He is a right-back.Great. He makes jokes about us being right-back united and then exarcerbates it by adding another to the squad. Classic tom-foolery. Love it.

I thought he was a right back but hoping not as we've more than enough cover there Lee is a right back or midfield player. Bloody hell he's been promoted quickly! He's the lad I mentioned as a Man of the Match contender in the Play Offs final at Sunderland after he did so much to hold our side together at times. One of our established youth players was having a tough time of it and Cox took his place first in midfield and, later, at full-back and in both cases, mended the problem and that against an excellent opponent at full-back. He's the only player at City I've never seen have a bad game although I've not watched him more than five or six times. Nothing seems to ruffle him. He's doesn't do unnecessary elaboration. He's brave, quick in the tackle, supports well, passes quickly and accurately, reads situations well.
Staf Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 Good choice Ollie i would rather see players like Chambers and King over Cort and J.Chambers
Cal Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 Well they cant do much worse than our current first team..

Other than Garner?
Thracian Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 Are any of them absolute garbage in your opinion? Or even average? Or even not amazing? Other than Garner? Too many unfortunately. But I don't think it especially gracious to go slating kids in public.

Thracian Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 Au contraire, my friend, eleven Levi Porters would rip ANY team to shreds.Remember? Weren't we beating Chelsea when he last left the pitch in a Leicester shirt. And that was only with one Porter.
wirralsimon Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 Im getting very negative and bitter ...im sorry..... It's taken a while, but you are now a true long-term Leicester City supporter.......
Tevez Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 Was up town with the Under 18's last night. Sound.
Tommy G Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 Was up town with the Under 18's last night. Sound. Ollies making a bit mistake. We cant afford to play kids, experience is really the only thing that will get us out this position
davieG Posted 21 December 2007 Author Posted 21 December 2007 Ollies making a bit mistake. We cant afford to play kids, experience is really the only thing that will get us out this position Quality, commitment and belief is what will get us out, age is less significant other than having a decent balance. We've done experience without quality and it's worse than youth without quality.
Joe. Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 Personally I wouldn't mind seeing a couple more youngsters coming in, most notably Ashley Chambers and Max Gradel, expecially him. Gradel's been brilliant at Bournemouth this season by the sounds of things and could give us something in the first team in a position we are desperately lacking in quality on the right wing. Does anybody know when his loan spell ends? I also think Chambers would be a better option up front than Fryatt for now to be honest.

He hasn't been brilliant by all accounts but he has done really well considering the tragic circumstances he's had this season. On that note;http://www.bournemouth.vitalfootball.co.uk...posts=1#M114884 Well brilliant was probably too strong a word but I still think he'd be better on the right wing than anything else we have.

Nice thought but I cannot see Ashley Chambers being a better bet than Fryatt on current form. Gradel's been up and down at Bounemouth but would seem a better bet for goals/assists than what we've had there so far. My feeling is that he'll go the way of Dodds. He's just not the sort of footballer that's fashionable. It's all about harrassers these days. Wingers they can pretend are right-backs too!
Jonbluefox9 Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 I think Lee Cox can play in midfield too. He wasn't a regular in the under 18s last season but he made the odd appearance and did well. I can't remember which match it was but he was playing right midfield and looked decent and he was one of the best players on the pitch against Blackburn the other week in the FA Youth cup playing at right back. Seems to have the right kind of attitude and mentality.

I think this could be a good gamble by ollie the players he drops are basically the ones that don't give a shit and the kids well they've got everything to prove so will just work there bollocks off and we need a bit of that in our team right ?!

Yeah we do need that. The good thing about Cox too is that he's a grafter with ability, from what I've seen of him. He's not just effort or just technical ability, he's a combination of both so I'm not worried about him not being up to first team football really.
Cat Burger Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 Dodds scored a really tidy goal the other day, I was impressed. As for this Ollie approach, he's taking a chance but it will be great if it pays off. I'm quite an admirer of what McClaren and Southgate did in bringing solid players through at Boro, they quite clearly buy into the idea that if they're good enough they're old enough. And also at Villa, players like Gardner and Cahill are/were used sparingly along with Gabby, and we're seeing the latter improve immensely in both strength and confidence. I think it is good to throw players in at the deep end, and obviously this xmas period is going to be the most fiery of baptisms!
