Ozwin Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 "They should have their own competition, 'Manager for the month' " Ah well Steve Walsh was on there and he reminded me of what used to be. Seeing some videos of back then when he was a machine just really lit me up. We need someone like that in our team again, someone who's going to shout his arse off every game and get everyone doing what they're supposed to. Steven Clemence is no where need the captain we thought he'd be, not compared to Walshy anyway. We need a bit of a nut case, a bit of a psycho in the ranks. We need a bit of fight basically and currently we don't have anyone with that. Still, nostalgic memories are nice.
Big Time Charlies Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 Yeah I remember going to watch Leicester at home against Everton back in 97 or 98 - he was up in Duncan Fergusons face all game, didn't give him an space and had at least two punch ups with him. Saw him in the pub after the game sporting a massive black eye - he's a true Leicester hero, not like the lightweights we've got in the team at the moment who just turn up every week to collect their pay packets.
Jay Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 I see Walshies working in a shop now then!!! after his other businesses all failed miserably and charging a massive £50 for his autograph!! goes and buys a shirt from the club shop signs it and tries to charge you £85 for the pleasure!!! edit and trying to charge £99 for an Alan Maybury match worn shirt!!!!
Ozwin Posted 21 December 2007 Author Posted 21 December 2007 Can you imagine it now? Let's have Gareth McCauley being a bit of bastard, get Kisnorbo sneeking one in the ribs of some of the other team. Rough the bastards up basically. We're far too nice and need a Walsh back. Fair enough the players will get fined and whatnot but it gives us the persona that we're not easy pushovers. Because I'm sure that's what other teams think of us, that we're well easy to play against.

Absolutely - we give other teams in our division way too much respect and have lost all self belief in our own abilities. I remember when we'd roll up at Old Trafford or Highbury and give the opposition hell for 90 minutes regardless of whether we won or lost. Now it seems we're too sh*t scared to go on the offensive against Bristol City, Plymouth or S***thorpe
Suffolk_fox Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 "They should have their own competition, 'Manager for the month' " I believe I own the rights to that quip

Either he is taking the piss for charging £79 for a Jason Jarrett shirt - or for charging £6 on top for the postage - or for calling Jarrett "superbly talanted". Whichever way it cuts, he was taking the piss. Anyone interested can go to the shop to save the £6 postage as I (somehow) doubt the auction completed in a sale.

Walshie should have learnt by now he is no Business man
Big Time Charlies Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 Walshie should have learnt by now he is no Business man Well let's be honest, anyone stupid enough to pay the best part of £100 for a signed shirt deserves to be ripped off! Why are all the knives out for Walsh anyway? He's one of the most commmited players this club has ever had!

Why are all the knives out for Walsh anyway? He's one of the most commmited players this club has ever had! I don't think anyone doubts that he was a committed player. I think the problem is when he opens his mouth on the radio yet puts no effort into constructively doing anything about it. The general feeling is that if he does want the Leicester job he should be prepared to do the groundwork and get his coaching badges.

Maybe he's just frustrated about how sh*t the club has become like the rest of us? The guy is an ex-pro footballer, not a politician, he's bound to shoot his mouth off and say what he thinks. I just don't think it's right for supporters to get on his back about it to the extent they are.

His attitude of 'I would do a much better job and this whole manager lark is a piece of cake' is what has annoyed people. I understand that he is frustrated but I don't think that he (or far that matter many of our fans) are really helping matters.
Ozwin Posted 21 December 2007 Author Posted 21 December 2007 Walshy's always been talk. I personally like it and think he'd do a great job if he was appointed somewhere in the club. We better get some mean thugs in January because I'm sick of watching pushover football. It's pathetic.
Ultra Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 Either he is taking the piss for charging £79 for a Jason Jarrett shirt - or for charging £6 on top for the postage - or for calling Jarrett "superbly talanted". Whichever way it cuts, he was taking the piss. Something which, of course, none of the personnel with current connections to our club would ever dream of doing... Maybe the sum being asked for the item reflected the price at which the club (ie our supremely-talented chairman) offloaded it to Walshy in the first place.

I understand that he is frustrated but I don't think that he (or far that matter many of our fans) are really helping matters. He's not the first ex-pro to say something stupid and he certainly won't be the last. And good greif, the amount of kicks and elbows to the head he's taken for City over the years I think he can be excused the odd silly comment! I say lets get him in as a motivational speaker before games - gee up the lads in the dressing room and get a bit of PASSION and PRIDE back in the side!!

Yeah, it's the fans' fault we've only had THREE home wins this year, and lie just ONE point from the bottom of a woefully weak league..
Manwell Pablo Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 Yeah, it's the fans' fault we've only had THREE home wins this year, and lie just ONE point from the bottom of a woefully weak league.. They've hardly helped the situation have they.
Dames Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 Only people with half a brain slate Walsh, which is abit unfair he is just a fan like the rest of us but then again he shouldn't proclaim he would do a better job. Then you get the brainless that love him no matter what and always call for him to be manager and then the post Green Street fans that probably don't know who he is.
mancunianfox Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 Yeah, it's the fans' fault we've only had THREE home wins this year, and lie just ONE point from the bottom of a woefully weak league.. Agree with Manwell that its not helped. Negativity seems to surround our club at all levels at the minute from the top all the way down.
