davieG Posted 9 March 2005 Posted 9 March 2005 Levein On Burnley Point Craig Levein was again left to curse missed chances after the Foxes battled out a 0-0 draw with Burnley at Turf Moor on Tuesday evening. Both sides had clear-cut opportunities to win the contest - but the defences stood firm. Levein made five changes to his starting line up for the contest - bringing in Tommy Wright, Stephen Hughes, Scot Gemmill, Patrick McCarthy and Jordan Stewart for Mark de Vries, Lilian Nalis, Matt Heath, Danny Tiatto and Keith Gillespie. But his new-look side failed to breakdown Steve Cotterill's men and both teams had to be content with a point for their efforts. Speaking after the game, Levein said: "We had a couple of really good chances in both halves but to be fair to Burnley they had their opportunities as well. "It was a pretty open match - especially the last 30 minutes. "Turf Moor is a hard place to get points and generally you would be happy to come away from here with a draw. "Some of our key players have had a rest as well so hopefully we can be fresh and ready to go in the FA Cup on Sunday. "I thought it was a reasonably entertaining game." Levein sighted Sunday's FA Cup quarter-final clash against Blackburn as a possible distraction to his players on the evening. He added: "The players could have been a little distracted with the FA Cup game coming up on Sunday, but we got out of here with a point. Our focuses now turn to the Blackburn game. "I thought Paddy McCarthy had a smashing debut. Stephen Hughes and Gareth Williams were great as well. "There were a lot of encouraging signs out there. We are still a bit shot shy in front of goal but we can have a look at that in the next week or two before the transfer deadline. Maybe we can do something about that. "I've got an idea in my head what formation we will play against Blackburn. I'll be having a serious think over the next couple of days as to what the team will be. "Dion has been out with a hamstring injury and if he is fit he will obviously come into the plans. He is in proving but at the moment we don't know if he will make it for Sunday. "We were left bitterly disappointed after the Forest game so it was important for us to get something today."
Scow Posted 9 March 2005 Posted 9 March 2005 Ipswich striker Dean Bowditch rejected a loan move to Oldham - He's certainly good enough for this division. Jason Euell is out of favour at Charlton - He scored twice in the reserves on Monday...

connolly19 Posted 9 March 2005 Posted 9 March 2005 Bowditch would have been good for us! Oh well have to move on and concentrate on luring Matt Jansen to the Walkers. He needs to prove himself and Leicester would be the perfect club, He also fits in Leveins ideal age range....... sort of
Ash Posted 9 March 2005 Posted 9 March 2005 If we don't sign any new strikers before the transfer deadline, He could always recall Scowcroft.

TAFKA Castroneves Posted 9 March 2005 Posted 9 March 2005 Rumors are that Swansea have accepted an offer from us for Lee Trundle, although Levein isn't confirming anything at the moment... Intresting.

Nationwider Posted 9 March 2005 Posted 9 March 2005 Levein On Burnley PointWe are still a bit shot shy in front of goal but we can have a look at that in the next week or two before the transfer deadline. Maybe we can do something about that. 76486[/snapback] We shouldn't risk going for an unproven striker at the moment - let's wait 'til the end of the season for that. We need a proven striker on loan - someone who will do a job for the last ten or so games, and give us a bit of the inspiration we've been lacking..... ......step forward, for one last time, Steve Claridge.

Euell was a regular scorer for Charlton not so long ago. If not him, what about the likes of Johansson and Jeffers? Both strikers are not getting games at the minute. I know Jeffers has lost his way in recent times, but I don't think he would have a problem adapting to this division.
