Ultra Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 He needs to score more. With so many strikers at the club now, he really needs to justify his place or pack his bags and head off to Colchester (I've decided that's where we should dispose of him to). They couldn't afford him.. Wolves don't seem to be scoring any goals either. Maybe we could still offload him there.
DanTheFox07 Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 There's much in what you say but both of these players have been around our first team for three seasons. What I would expect to see in that time is a) More consistency and b) Some improvement in perceived weaknesses. Taking Fryatt's his problems to me concern: a) Lack of pace. b) Limited range of shooting c) Insufficient assists through not spotting colleagues runs and feeding the ball d) Failure to attack certain positions - six yard box/near post e) Indifference in the air. f) Lack of strength A centre-forward can do without the odd one or even two of these qualities but the more you lack the less likely you are to be successful. And I don't think Fryatt has shown signs of improving those six things enough in the seasons he's been here. What he`s trying to say is that Fryatt isnt championship standard!
lavrentis Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 What he`s trying to say is that Fryatt isnt championship standard! I agree to that.
Foxhateram Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 HendersonStearman McAuley Kisnobo Hume Fryatt All of them have been here for 2-3 years,a time where we have struggled to keep our heads above the bottom 3, and yet plenty of people still champion them as good players To me it is obvious they are just crap worse than the Pleat era mugs and for the club to move forward they need to be shipped out ASAP, because not one of them deserves to put the Fox on his chest. oh get out!!!! Why the hell have you just picked the only players at this club that play for the shirt!! Put thiery henry in our team and he wouldnt score!!! the problem is these players have been surrounded by shite. our problem for years has been midefield!!! jason jarrett, mark yeates, momo sylla, smith, wiliams, newton, josh low. and there are more they were all fooking useless!!!!! you trying being a defender when the ball goes striaght threw the midfield and come trhough to you to clear it up everytime!!! our defenders over the years have had shite loads more to do then they should have!!! they have done bloody well. As for the strikers you mentioned Hume got 14 last season which is a damn acheivment to say he created nearly everyone of those goals himself. Fryatt is still young and is learning no-one would expect him to have hit his peek yet. Fryatt under the right management is a cracking player and Holloway is begining to bring that out. Hendo is flappy, and a bit useless at times but atm the best we have, atleast he gives it a good crack. TBF to him he has made some cracking saves over the years and hasnt been that awful....... again rant over.

Flynny Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 I beg to differ. Were you at Sunderland this time last year? (ish) It was pretty much the only game he's ever excelled in but I'll still bang on about it at every oppurtunity.
The People's Hero Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 Did we actually release Nielsen or is he still bumbling around?
Alexikokopops Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 Were you at Sunderland this time last year? (ish)It was pretty much the only game he's ever excelled in but I'll still bang on about it at every oppurtunity. Nah, didn't make it to Sunderland. I did make it to the half-match against Forest and yesterday's games though and he hasn't really showered himself in glory in them two games.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 Were you at Sunderland this time last year? (ish)It was pretty much the only game he's ever excelled in but I'll still bang on about it at every oppurtunity. Even in that game he made a horrible error for their second goal. He's not up to it and half the saves he has to make are from situations Fulop never found himself in because he actually dealt with crosses.
Foxhateram Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 I beg to differ. Villa last year? Sunderland he did ok, i cant name individual games and saves. But last season he made some important saves that got us vital points, i can remember many occasions where i shouted oh what a save!!! or heard barber babbling on about Hendo being a good shot stopper. I agree he is flappy, and he needs to do some work on set-peices and commanding his area during set peices. but surely that isnt that hard to teach? easy enough to teach it to kids.

Any proffesional footballer can have a one off excellent game, it's the week in week out performances that count and Henderson is shit.
The People's Hero Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 Mablo is right. Henderson is sh it. He just is sh it. In a GK - you look for reliability.

True, but it actually could have been 10-0 if it wasn't for him so no-one really held it against him. I imagine the change of keeper means the defense have to play entirely differently. Playing him over the course of a season isn't a great idea, but playing him after having played an aerially solid huge bloke in the 20 matches before is suicidal. That said I still don't think he's a terrible keeper for a number 2. (turd jokes to follow, I imagine)

Isn't hard to teach?! He's thirty-fecking-one, what makes you think he can learn to catch a cross after 12 years of trying (and evidentially failing)?

The fact of the matter is that Henderson is a backup goalkeeper and he is fine as a backup in this league. You can't expect better keepers than him to sit on the bench all season. But the club need to sort the Fulop situation ASAP - we can't afford to be worse defensively than we have been so far because we are scoring even less goals than last season!
The People's Hero Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 At least Conrad Logan was amusing to look at.

ibbosuk Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 I'm pretty sure Fryatt will be looking for a new house before the end of Jan!He's one of the biggest conmen we've ever had at this club. For some strange reason I get the feeling he'll go on to become a half decent centre forward-just not at this club. Fryatt...A conman ? surely not...Its pure Coincidence that he's had 2 of his best game's in a City shirt just before the transfer window opens...But still no goals  what is it 1 goal in every 5 games? N.B. Fryatt made a total of 49 league starts for the Saddlers, scoring 27 goals in the process. Whats he got this season for Leicester 3 in 20 starts..?

He wishes. Fact of the matter is Fryatt is not good enough for this league. We can bang on about service all day long, but he is meant to be a fox in a box, a predator, you dont need service for that, you need to get the ball in the box as much as possible, and get players forward - this is possible even with our turd players, and has been done, yet he still vant get the ball in the net. Humes scored this season, when not playing as a striker some of the time - what excuses are we going to make for him?

The People's Hero Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 The chance Fryatt missed yesterday would have been comical if it ha... Actually, it was comical.
Manwell Pablo Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 The chance Fryatt missed yesterday would have been comical if it ha...Actually, it was comical. Didn't 1.5 million pound man Steve "18 goals last season" Howard miss a free header.
Alexikokopops Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 Didn't 1.5 million pound man Steve "18 goals last season" Howard miss a free header. He was the only one yesterday who actually looked like he could play at this level.
The People's Hero Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 Didn't 1.5 million pound man Steve "18 goals last season" Howard miss a free header. Yes he did. He made a nuisance of himself all day though and did win his headers. Admittedly, I can't recall a header which he got on target, but I've seen enough of him before to believe he can score goals even in this sham of a football team.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 Didn't 1.5 million pound man Steve "18 goals last season" Howard miss a free header. I wish you'd been there to see Fryatt's miss. Absolutely ridiculous. Howard had a couple of headers from about eight yards out but they weren't fantastic chances, I presume the one you're referring to was the looping ball that he got on the end of but didn't get on target. He had a cracking game really. Won every header and hit the post from 25 yards. Unlucky not to score. He is going to be a good player for us.
