Geordie Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 Henderson Stearman McAuley Kisnobo Hume Fryatt All of them have been here for 2-3 years,a time where we have struggled to keep our heads above the bottom 3, and yet plenty of people still champion them as good players To me it is obvious they are just crap worse than the Pleat era mugs and for the club to move forward they need to be shipped out ASAP, because not one of them deserves to put the Fox on his chest.

DB11 Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 Stearman and Fryatt are 2 of the most critersized players we have As well as Hendo, though his criticism is uncalled for that much. People have just got used to Fulop
Geordie Posted 2 January 2008 Author Posted 2 January 2008 Stearman and Fryatt are 2 of the most critersized players we have Really? Apparently Stearman and Fryatt will still come good That is all I ever hear of those 2.
Sooper Steve's shin Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 Really?Apparently Stearman and Fryatt will still come good That is all I ever hear of those 2. Maybe because they're both still young - 20 or 21, I think. You can't write off players at that age if they have shown some promise. A season or maybe a bit more can be taken as a blip, plus you have got to take into account the disruption at our club over the time they have been here (in terms of both player and manager turnover). We like to think that manager changes shouldn't disrupt the squad, but each new man brings his own methods and style that players have to get used to. For younger lads learning their trade, this can be hard - they need someone to nurture them (despite all the arguments that they're paid loads and should just get on with it). I am in a reasonably well-paid job with a few years' experience, but if I'd had five bosses in three years while I was training I reckon I would be suffering for it now.

There's much in what you say but both of these players have been around our first team for three seasons. What I would expect to see in that time is a) More consistency and b) Some improvement in perceived weaknesses. Taking Fryatt's his problems to me concern: a) Lack of pace. b) Limited range of shooting c) Insufficient assists through not spotting colleagues runs and feeding the ball d) Failure to attack certain positions - six yard box/near post e) Indifference in the air. f) Lack of strength A centre-forward can do without the odd one or even two of these qualities but the more you lack the less likely you are to be successful. And I don't think Fryatt has shown signs of improving those six things enough in the seasons he's been here.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 The only ones on that list that don't seem to get critisim are McCauley and Hume
Daggers Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 HendersonStearman McAuley Kisnobo Hume Fryatt Not from me. They possess a modicum of ability but they are part of the attitude problem at City, where the team expects to lose. They need to be replaced.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 Fryatt's untouchable. No matter how many games he plays poorly in, he's been first choice the entire time he's been here despite him and us being absolutely shit the whole time. Howard will be first choice and we need pace up front too so one of Hume or Campbell for me. You can blame the lack of service but until we bring in some midfielders, this is the team we have to work with and picking Fryatt just for a couple of mazy runs and shots wide every game is pointless.

Not quite true. Martin Allen had him (and Stearman) sussed during his short time here. Sadly his goal at Ashton Gate has led the current manager to rate him a lot more highly than his overall record (goalscoring and otherwise) deserves.
Thracian Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 The only ones on that list that don't seem to get critisim are McCauley and Hume Hume can be a frustrating player and wasteful with it but in the side that we've got he's like a shining light. For a start he feeds on scraps yet still manages to be our top scorer while often playing in positions far removed from centre-forward. Secondly even on the bad days every player has there is no drop in the guy's effort. Even if the game is lost and it's three minutes from time, Hume still chases lost causes and tries to earn his wages. When I see the effort the little man makes to win a header against a comparatively giant goalkeeper and force a goal out of nowhere and then compare him to the near-six-foot Fryatt in the same situation I am never in doubt who I'd rather have. Hume has his weaknesses and limitations but at least he tries to make the best of what he's got.

I agree, with the exception of Hume who I think continues to improve they could/should all be sold asap..I would also add Mattock to the list.

I'm pretty sure Fryatt will be looking for a new house before the end of Jan! He's one of the biggest conmen we've ever had at this club. For some strange reason I get the feeling he'll go on to become a half decent centre forward-just not at this club.

Without his goals last season we wouldn't be in this league, we would be facing trips to Yeovil, Port Vale and Bournemouth, so be a bit grateful everyone. For the others- Henderson has taken unbelieveable stick recently, so has Fryatt and Stearman, Kisnorbo does get criticism, but solid performances outweigh bad ones and he puts in maximum effort, and McAuley has taken stick this season. Everyone in the team gets criticism, some are more noticeable than others.

He is our most talented player but he is also our most frustrating. I could see him do very well at somewhere like Norwich or Wolves though.

I still can't believe we didn't sell him in the summer when Wolves came in with £900,000. Of course he would be more effective for them because they actually have a few strong, tall, mobile attacking players which is what he needs to feed off. If Campbell had stayed fit he'd have eight or nine goals by now though.

Thats probabley because he's 21 and frequently shows promise, for example being MOTM in the last two home games, but eh whatever ship him out and lets play a 35 years old Barry Hayles instead. I'm past careing.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 Well Hume is at the moment scoring regulalrly in a very poor team - so with umpteen strikers at the club I'd like to offload the drossier players, get BETTER strikers in (could be H&H, jury's out) and keep Hume as a rotation/utility player, he's the kind of player a good team would have as cover as he can fill a few different place. Same could be said for Kisnorbo and McAuley. If we start on the players listed (and why are Sticks, Hendo and Fryup in there? 3 of the most vilified players at the club atm!) then we will be criticising the whole team, which is just wrong - there are element that are being dragged down by other parts of the team and we shouldn't be blaming everyone!
Durnerz Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 Henderson yesterday confirmed the need for a new goalkeeper or the return of Fulop, absolutely abysmal showing and if thats the kind of performance he wants to put in to show he should get the number 1 jersey on a permenant basis then that sums him up for me. Stearman was crap yesterday but also recieved no help down that right side defensively so James Chambers can take some of the blame for that. Also Ollie's tactics I thought were shit yesterday, we never dragged the extra frontman back when one of their defenders pushed up to make it a 3-5-2 in attack and flood the midfield thus why we were so overrun at times. It was just an all round shambolic performance yesterday but with Steve Howard as one of the shining lights, we have a good player here.
Jonezy Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 Lets just face it. The whole team is average at best. But its unbalanced as well, and all the uncertainty and manager changes surrounding the last few seasons haven't helped improving any of the players very much either. In my opinion every single one is sellable, if someone wants to pay for them. Stearman has been getting a lot of stick though from nearly everyone, while Fryatt keeps dividing people into those who still believes the guy will come good and those who think he should be shipped out at first opportunity. I think Mac and Kis have benefited from having Fulop behind them, so their mistakes haven't been too costly. I don't think they are better or worse than the average centre back in this division. We must be the most mood swinging bunch of football supporters, as we tend to hail them one week and then go on to slaughter them the next week. Still that whats unstability does to you. We shouldn't be facing relegation with this bunch, but they are nowhere near play off material either.
The People's Hero Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 Agree to some extent and just to address this to some degree... On every occasion I've seen McAuley this season, he has been abysmal. The fact that we had the best defensive record in the league up until a month or so ago was incredible. He gets turned, he loses out on headers to players much shorter, his leap seems to have abandoned him since he joined, I swear he's got slower, he often fails to hold the line with the rest of the defence, his pass backs are ALWAYS too short or misplaced and his distribution is ABSOLUTELY unacceptable. Only Stearman, Mattock and Henderson managed to play worse against QPR. On most occasions, you play that badly and you're the worst on the pitch. As for Fryatt, he's got the ability and he seems quicker and more eager now.. but there is so little end product. I like the look of Howard though.

I'm gonna simplify how key Fryatt's goals would have been He's played in 8 games we've drawn and scored in only one-had he score in half of them we'd be comfortably in mid table and challenging for a play-off place There told you it was simple

With so many strikers at the club now, he really needs to justify his place or pack his bags and head off to Colchester (I've decided that's where we should dispose of him to).
