Worst Leicester team I've ever seen

Isn't that what Clemence was supposed to do? Either he's not up to it, or the players have no respect for each other, as well as the management and the fans of the club. Or most likely both.

Everyone is getting the blame at the moment. When we see some decent midfielders alongside him then he should look better too and then people will stop questioning his leadership qualities. Hopefully.

With the team we're fielding at the moment we're always going to struggle and there's only so much he can do.

I've yet to see why Clemence has such a following.

What is he really good at?

You'd hardly call him a powerhouse defensive midfielder. He's mobile enough but I've never yet seen him take control of a game yet.

As for goals he averages one every 10 games or so over his career and has managed one in more than 20 for Leicester.

Kingy done as well as that in a quarter of the games and poses a far greater goal threat given the freedom to attack.

Clemence is what I think of as a journeyman professional. He plays the averages. He's tucked away in the middle of the park, avoids silly risks and therefore never looks especially bad and ends up with ratings around the six mark.

But how rarely he steps above that. When have you looked on and thought "class player that Clemo". Yes, you see him try to get players going but the personal example isn't there. Where are the drives forward, the net-breaking shots from midfield, the rousing tackles, the defence-splitting passes.

Whether he did any of those things in the past I don't know but I've not seen them here.

I've just seen Joe Average.

We desperately need a player of substance in our midfield. I don't really care if it's a Graham Cross or a Davie Gibson but we need someone who everyone looks up to and believes in. A guy who carries the flag and is prepared and able to answer every challenge.

Scoring goals and making chances is easier said than done with this team. There's no movement or pace at all. That applies to Andy King as much as it does to Clemence.

Clemence is the captain though and has shown he can perform to the required standards with proper clubs who play with proper midfields and don't change their manager every six weeks - with all the problems and uncertainty we've had recently we'd be stupid to drop our captain and one of the only players at the club who has proven his ability in a winning team at any point in his career.

You're talking past tense. And Birmingham didn't seem that keen to keep him.

No but they're hardly pulling up any trees in the Premiership (in the same way that Reading did the season they went up, for example).

We'll just have to wait and see. I still think he'll do well for us with a proper midfield around him. In the right team, he's the same sort of reliable no-frills midfielder that served Southampton so well with Safri on Saturday.

Clemence has what it takes to boss a midfield at this level.

He's still trying to organise, shouting, pointing, running and putting in a decent enough personal performance, the problem is he's barking orders to those around him and they simply aren't midfielders, they don't know what they're doing.

Only three players have been ever present in our side this season, apart from injury/suspension - McAuley, Kisnorbo and Clemence.

Yet people say our wretched performances are down to others. How convenient.

But I don't buy that for one second.

Take away a previously ever present, Fulop, and the defence looks woefully vulnerable in the centre, especially without a third centre-back. It's having to be papered over - not because McAuley and Kisnorbio cannot defend but because the ball only comes straight back from their clearances - at least far too often.

And you, no more than anyone else, can point to one single game where Clemence has dominated midfield in his half a season so far.

He's had two or three decent matches but what else? Three out of 20-odd is not enough. Nor is it leadership. If Clemence was a youth player you'd be droning on that he's not good enough, but he isn't. He's the captain, a new signing from the Premiership and he's drawing top wages.

As such I expect him to be better than others, not just another average Joe Soap and if he's got what it takes to boss a midfield "at this level" why does he not get on and do it?

Why do people think things can be turned around at the drop of a coin?

Our depression started from when peter taylor took over, how many years ago was that? Since then we have always taken 1 step forwards and two backwards.

I am not a football manager so i am not going to tell the world how to turn things around. One thing is for sure, i am sure Ollie will get it right in time.

In the reality of the situation i am looking at mid table finishes (12-15) not only for this season but prob for next too. As long as ollie is still here i think we will have had enough contnuity and time to remove all of the players we have damaged over the past 5-8 years.

I support leicester city and with that i know who we are a - second tier team. I dont think we have some devine right to be in the premeirship just because we have been there for a couple of seasons. We are a championship team and have been since 1880 something!!

If you people think we have a devine right to be a big club, go and support a big club because we are what we are and i love us for it!!

Kind of answered your own question there really. We're in the worst position we've ever been in, hence the negativity. No-one is saying we have a divine right to be in the Premiership but it'd be nice to compete in this league cos we're a long way off the 12th-15th you quote at the moment.

Huh?? Clemence of late seems to have trouble organising himself let alone those around him.

For someone who claims to have worked with Peterborough Utd I am surprised you have failed to appreciate the impact our season will have had on Clemence, Thracian.

He has shown quality on a whole number of occasions - but his lack of ability to be vocal on the pitch concerns me. Given a bit of security and consistency "up top" I am convinced we will see the player that BCFC voted their player of the season.

Do you have to keep on harping about divine rights to the Premiership there's hardly a handful of people that think that. What they might expect a divine right to is not to have to witness 4 consecutive years of utter rubbish.

As for us being a Championship side since 1880, bollocks we have spent 56 (approx) of those years in the Championship and 44 (approx) in the top league. Since I've been going down circa 1960 we've had 19 seasons at Championship Level and 28 at Premiership level.

For their Player of the Season Birmingham didn't seem very keen to keep him and the reason he moved was because the club couldn't guarantee him a place.

Which, of course, suggests he IS guaranteed a place here and I've never like that idea cos it can take the edge of people's game.

I don't actually care what he's done at other clubs and have never suggested he's not been any good in the past.

My view is based on what I've seen of him here and so far I've been disappointed cos it's not a lot. That has to change because, if his place is, as I suspect, nailed on, then he's installed for the rest of the season and he HAS TO have more influence if we're to do any good.

PS: My connection with Peterborough United was 30 years ago.
