SamL Posted 10 January 2008 Posted 10 January 2008 Leicester City boss Ian Holloway today hailed DJ Campbell's return to training as 'wonderful news'.The former Birmingham City striker, who joined the Foxes in the summer for a fee that could eventually rise to £2.1m, has been out of action since November with a pelvic problem. But Holloway said that he was delighted to see his 'new signing' strutting his stuff on the Belvoir Drive training pitches once again. He said: "It was wonderful to see DJ out on the training ground this morning. It was the first time that I have seen him running around on the grass with his kit on and it was great. "He is still a couple of weeks away, but it was just wonderful to see him out there. He put the ball in the net a few times and it was just nice to see that in open play. " Meanwhile, Campbell revealed that he was just relieved to be involved once again. He added: "It's been a disappointing and frustrating couple of months for me with one injury or another but I'm thankful that I'm feeling better and hopefully I'll continue to get stronger over the next couple of weeks. "I want to be a part of what is happening under Ollie and he wants me to be involved which is encouraging especially as he hasn't seen anything of me here yet. "The sooner I can start scoring goals again the better and hopefully we can move up the table. "I am dying to play for the gaffer, because he is the kind of manager you want to play for and do well for." Can't see this anywhere else. Very good to see him back in training, would be nice to have a bit of pace up front.
WetFlannel Posted 10 January 2008 Posted 10 January 2008 Thank God! He is a very good player and I think he hasn't done as bad as people are making out... Him and Howard up front would be terrific

blue blood Posted 10 January 2008 Posted 10 January 2008 howard and dudley should make for a lively decent strikeforce. Defo not a relegation strikeforce.
shen Posted 10 January 2008 Posted 10 January 2008 Thank God! He is a very good player and I think he hasn't done as bad as people are making out... Him and Howard up front would be terrific He's hardly done anything so far... And happy birthday!
jonw88 Posted 10 January 2008 Posted 10 January 2008 Does anyone else think that sounds like Ollie's seen DJ running around without his kit on? That's exactly what I thought when I first saw that!!
pazey69 Posted 10 January 2008 Posted 10 January 2008 I think this is good news, he does well with a big man up top with him. he combined well with collins john away at colchester. i think him and howard would be a quality partnership.
Joe. Posted 10 January 2008 Posted 10 January 2008 Yeah good news. I'd like to see him back soon, especially ahead of Fryatt in the pecking order.

Asha Posted 10 January 2008 Posted 10 January 2008 Campbell, as an option, is much missed. Agreed, prolific as he was.
Thracian Posted 10 January 2008 Posted 10 January 2008 Agreed, prolific as he was. Four goals in nine starts! I wish we could get Fryatt and Hayles to do that.
Asha Posted 10 January 2008 Posted 10 January 2008 I think with the new forwards being bought into the club, Campbell might naturally feel out of place. Imo one of our first team strikers has to go now. Leicester's strikers are like China; too overcrowded. It needs sorting.
Mort Posted 10 January 2008 Posted 10 January 2008 Four goals in nine starts!I wish we could get Fryatt and Hayles to do that. Well said (on Fryatt at least), although it's a little harsh to judge Hayles so soon (not that I'm expecting much to be honest) but he's hardly been here for five minutes... Fryatt meanwhile has been here for a fair length of time and has fallen far short of expectations (despite the hero-worship of the kop!).

Leicester's strikers are like China; too overcrowded. It needs sorting. That's no problem. Has John gone already? Do what you like with the rest but I'd keep Howard, Campbell, Hayles and Hume. Where's the problem?

Apart from Fryatt's first nine starts or something similar, he's been shit all the way. He never starred as a League One striker, and therefore he's never going to be a 20 goal a season hitman in this division, really.

I did hope he'd approach 15 goals this season but with three so far that's looking about as likely as TPH talking some sense about him.
Flynny Posted 10 January 2008 Posted 10 January 2008 Isn't Porter due back before the end of the month? Can't help but think he'd have been of use to us, though his form at the end of last season and the beginning of this wasn't the best. He was having the game of his life at Chelsea before he went down, though.
Scow Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 Four goals in nine starts!I wish we could get Fryatt and Hayles to do that. 4 in 11 actually.
Ultra Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 Isn't Porter due back before the end of the month? With a cruciate ligament injury? It's very unlikely. He'll do well to recover for the start of next season.
