Koke Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 I did hear a bit of noise about this over Christmas. not a lot though. He's out of contract in the summer I believe. Derby, Preston and Leicester have all been alerted to the availability of Aberdeen midfielder Barry Nicholson (Daily Express)
MikeyT Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 I did hear a bit of noise about this over Christmas. not a lot though. He's out of contract in the summer I believe. I have to be honest. I have never heard of him or seen him play!
mat_j101 Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 I have to be honest. I have never heard of him or seen him play! Seconded!!!!
Rodders Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 We're just about sorted for central midfielders now though, aren't we? Clemence & Oakley first choice. Plus Osbourne, Weso, King. That should do.
Simon Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 We're just about sorted for central midfielders now though, aren't we?Clemence & Oakley first choice. Plus Osbourne, Weso, King. That should do. Seems only a week ago that we were saying exactly the opposite! I'd say another CM wouldn't go amiss. Especially given that Weso is SO injury prone.
dandannieldanok Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 Seen him on BBCi when Aberdeen have been playing UEFA Cup and he's a pretty steady player, nothing special and doesn't appear to offer anymore than Clem and Oakley.
Head Honcho Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 One of my home town boys but not sure if he's good enough to play at this level. I'd prefer Chris Clark or Jamie Smith.
Manwell Pablo Posted 16 January 2008 Posted 16 January 2008 One of my home town boys but not sure if he's good enough to play at this level.I'd prefer Chris Clark or Jamie Smith. As I said before Christmas he wouldn't add anything. That was before we signed Matt Oakley.
Staf Posted 16 January 2008 Posted 16 January 2008 Never heard of him but worth a go he might be alright will give us more cover in midfield i suppose
davieG Posted 29 February 2008 Posted 29 February 2008
LEICESTER CLOSE IN ON NICHOLSON
08:50 - 29 February 2008 Barry Nicholson is a summer transfer target for English Championship side Leicester City and the Foxes will run the rule over the midfielder in Aberdeen's match against Rangers at Ibrox tomorrow. Nicholson is out of contract at the end of the season and several Championship clubs are believed to be interested in the player, including Leicester who will have chief scout Alex Gordon in the stands at Ibrox. Foxes manager Ian Holloway was on the lookout for a versatile midfield player during the January transfer window but failed to land his leading targets. He snapped up former England international Lee Hendrie yesterday on an emergency loan deal until the end of the season from Sheffield United. Holloway is already planning for next year, although much could depend on if they can remain in the Championship as they are currently only two points above the relegation zone. Former Rangers and Dunfermline player Nicholson rejected Aberdeen's initial offer of a new contract in January. Although he has hinted he is keen on playing in England, he has not ruled out the possibility of signing an extension at Pittodrie. The Dons are set to resume negotiations with out-of-contract players after their Scottish Cup sixth round tie against Celtic at Pittodrie a week on Sunday following a hectic spell of games. As well as Nicholson, several other players face uncertain futures including Derek Soutar, Lee Miller, Steve Lovell, Stuart Duff and Ritchie Byrne, who are all at the end of their contracts, while loan deals for Alan Maybury, Dave Bus, Sone Aluko and Josh Walker will all expire in the summer.
STUHILL Posted 29 February 2008 Posted 29 February 2008 I've heard of him. Seems to do well in Scotland. I don't really see how we need more CM, BUT Clemence has hardly set the world alight for us, and I'm all for buying better players if we can! I just hope we sign some very talented wingers too this Summer!
jonw88 Posted 29 February 2008 Posted 29 February 2008 I don't think we wanted to go down the failed Scottish midfielder Stephen Hughes route again, we don't need him.
Father Ted Posted 1 March 2008 Posted 1 March 2008 Haven't we learnt from the Levein era yet? If anyone we should have got Barry Robson before he went to Celtic.
