DVD player f****d

Why can't life be simple? I downloaded a movie and want to put it on DVD but for some reason my PC doesn't recognise the player. Anyway thats another problem. I went to use my DVD player to format the disc and I'm getting no response from the remote just to eject the disc tray After trying half a dozen different batteries I switch the telly on and put it on the DVD chammel. All I got was horizontal green lines. So I checked the leads and everything dug the manual and did a switch off on which resulted on it having no power at all now.

Is it knackered? Or is there a chance of reviving it. Don't really want to fork out for another just yet. It's a recordable one as well.

Check you haven't confused it with the toaster when drunk and inserted a slice of bread.

I put my Lord Of the Rings trilogy set into the waffle grill last night and you wouldn't believe the mess it caused.

Ken

you d/l a movie? What format was it in. Did you convert it to DVD (vob files etc)? How did you burn the DVD?

It could be that you are trying to run an avi on a DVD player. Some do but they are called divx players.

Hairy

360 can play divx.

Wii 0 Xbox 360 1

Your wrong I'm afraid. There is some homebrew software you can load onto the Wii to make it play anything on the memory card.

Wii 1 360 1

but of course the Wii is much better so

Wii 2 360 1 :)

My Xbox is absloutley bolloxed I now have to wait for it to be collected (which if it isn't Saturday, could be forever as there is hardly ever anyone in at my house mon-fri 9-4) When I finally do get it collected I have to wait for 2-3 weeks for the repair (WTF) and then around another 3 days on top for them to send it back out again.

Not good, Im going to have to go out 4 weekend in a row so I'm not sat at home bored, it's times like this I wish I didn't think 90% of the stuff on TV is shit.

Wii 10 Xbox 360 1. lol

Apparently Cate Blanchett's the person to ask about DVD repairs.....

'Gaffe-prone Prince Philip stunned actress Cate Blanchett - by asking if she could fix his DVD player. The 86-year-old Duke of Edinburgh - famed for blundering remarks - was introduced to Lord of the Rings star Cate at a Buckingham Palace function. When the Aussie-born beauty said she was 'in the film industry' he thought she was a TECHNICIAN and launched into a description of what was wrong with his broken machine'

Don't know what file format it was. On the torrent site it said DVD so I assumed it would be ok. Its on my PC at home so will have to wait for details. I also dl borat and just got audio. A Lynard Skynard video was ok. Others are taking ages. The one on my PC is Rounders. It plays on media player but I wanted it on a disc to watch at work.

Its probably a DVD rip not a DVD replica.

It sounds as though you need to load some new codecs too get them here Here Ken then install them. Video and audio should work then.

You need to convert Rounders to DVD format and then burn it. I use VSO for this. You should be able to d/l it from any torrent site along with a pass crack or keygen for it. VSO will burn the DVD to a disc for you too. It takes about 1 hour to do on my setup at home.

Hope that helps.

Borats working now. Still wasn't sure what I was doing. Clicked the first CODEC and then clicked next after that. Opened it up in the downloads and it played OK. I would like to transfer this too at some point. Seems I won't need the second download after all. Thought the first was faulty.

Thanks for the help Not tried transferring to disc with Borat yet.

I'm more worried about my Sky at the minute. It's said 'no satellite signal is being received' since Thursday morning. :ermm:

Depending where your sky dish is situated this may/may not help... if it's at ground level check there's nothing (vegetation-wise) growing up (or blown over) in front of the dish. I never realised how much of a difference this could make until I had the same problem as you. The engineer helpfully suggested over the phone that I check it- I was sceptical but looked anyway and there was, literally, a twig with a couple of leaves wafting in front of the dish. Chopped the twig down, turned the sky box on and off and - hey presto - happy sky reception again. Has been fine ever since.

Worth checking...

Also, I found my Sky was a bit grubby recently - it was grey and horrible. So I put the woman onto giving it a good scrub and now it is toasty bright.

Alex Peterson is a shit.

House opposite has got a big dish and an arial on the outside wall. Very unsightly sight.

Got to cut down my time down browsing and dl for the next week. Got a message to say I've used my allotted free usage, now I'm paying for it. Don't know what it is but I've heard it can be pricy if you get carried away. Will mainly be using my wireless connection. I've stopped my downloads as they used all my MG up.

BTW theres been a slight trickle of snow during the night. It may be gone by the time some of you get up. According to our control room it had been hailing in Nottingham earlier in the day. This was when I arrived at 3pm.

Watched the Borat movie. Good in parts, bit repetaive and OTT in others.
