Geo V Posted 5 February 2008 Posted 5 February 2008 In London, some people still refer to the Police as "The Beast" so it must be 666 which is obviously 999 flipped over like a pancake. Time to make a pancake
AoWW Posted 5 February 2008 Posted 5 February 2008 Somebody's got to add a mother-in-law joke, surely?!
Daggers Posted 5 February 2008 Posted 5 February 2008 Woah to you oh Earth and see For the devil sends the beast with wrath Because he knows the time is short Let him with understanding reckon the number of the beast For it is a human number... ...it's number is...
danny. Posted 5 February 2008 Posted 5 February 2008 He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead, so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name. This calls for wisdom. If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is man's number. His number is 666. clearly the security code on the back of a visa card. there, that's my amazing contribution to this thread.
Lillehamring Posted 5 February 2008 Posted 5 February 2008 in the movie Naked, they argue that it is 666, and that in modern days this is represented by the bar code, which is split into 3 units of 6... you have to watch the film, he argues it much more cooly than i do....
Lillehamring Posted 5 February 2008 Posted 5 February 2008 This “popular parlour-game” (Page, 504) could be given a satirical or polemical slant. If numbers can equal words and phrases, they can also equal proper names. Take the Emperor Nero (incidentally the probable addressee of an isopsephic birthday greeting from Leonides: A.P. 6.321 = I Page). In Greek, he is NERON (with an omega). Add up the values of these letters and you get 1005. Add up the letters of IDIAN METERA APEKTEINE (killed his own mother) and you also get 1005. So Nero = killed his own mother.
Finnegan Posted 5 February 2008 Posted 5 February 2008 Woah to you oh Earth and see For the devil sends the beast with wrath Because he knows the time is short Let him with understanding reckon the number of the beast For it is a human number... ...it's number is... Beat me to it. Bruce Dickinson > Stephen Fry.
