Hugo Sanchez Posted 6 February 2008 Posted 6 February 2008 Ashley Young. How was Gerrard fans player of the year btw? What i was thinking ! He wasn't as bad as Frank but still no way player of the year. Would have gave it Heskey just for his few starts, still he changed games.
FilboFox Posted 6 February 2008 Posted 6 February 2008 Match Summary by Me: First Half... same old shit... we were crap all over and Switzerland were outplaying us. Second Half... we were in control and should have scored more than 2. Really kept the ball much better and threatened nearly every time we went forward... looked more confident except at the end when we were sitting back trying to protect the lead... luckily we survived and so Capello starts with a win... same as the previous 6 England managers before him ...

I thought first half Capello face read, WHAT HAVE I LET MYSELF IN FOR ! Got a tough job ahead but has the best CV in world football.
The Reverend Posted 6 February 2008 Posted 6 February 2008 We are shite. The supposed high point Bentley, was shite. What did Bentley do to merit the pundits view that he was MOTM? WHAT DID HE DO?! Gerrard was shite. Wayne Brown was shite. Must do better against conference standard international teams. Different gaffer, same old shite.

We can't win every game 5-0, we are England we have world class players but that give us no right to be at any Euro or World Cup. Cappelo has seen it all and i'm sure he will get it right given time. Today was all about winning and the second half we played well. Its a huge rebulding job mate.

But i expect better than that.
Hugo Sanchez Posted 7 February 2008 Posted 7 February 2008 Fully agree. But i expect better than that. To be honest mate, after reading my post i feel abit silly. First half i was saying to mate, how shit we where and they are over rated and i don't give a toss about England. Second half we picked up but still wasn't nothing great and let in a silly goal as usual. We do have the players but they never perform like they should. Watching England gets me mad and sometimes i wonder why i bother. I got to that stage when we get knocked out in World Cups and Euro's. I just don't care, when i was younger use to care and get upset but now i watched them but just slate them really.
Hugo Sanchez Posted 7 February 2008 Posted 7 February 2008 Conference standard international teams? Well they did lose to the might what is The USA.
lildave3 Posted 7 February 2008 Posted 7 February 2008 Well they did lose to the might that is The USA. And the USA are conference standard aren't they.
Hugo Sanchez Posted 7 February 2008 Posted 7 February 2008 And the USA are conference standard aren't they. Oh no ! Not the sarcastic face, Well they are hardly Brasil are they We should be beating teams like this easy but today it was just about us winning and a good performance. We got the win and a good second half showing.

We got the win and a good second half showing. The Swiss (and the U.S for that matter) are a team filled with top european league talent and are regular qualifiers for major tournaments. Obviously if we're being really English about it we should stuff every team bar Brasil Argentina Italy and France 5-0 but I'm afriad, occasioanly, when your missing about 6 players, you might have to settle for a 2-1 win against a top 16 European team. Oh....no.....saracastic face.... . . . . ... . ...
Hugo Sanchez Posted 7 February 2008 Posted 7 February 2008  Have a look at how many Premiership players are in the USA team, there was a couple in the Swiss team tonight aswell. They all play for Fulham and one at Rangers, say alot. Swiss aren't as bad as people make out but we should be playing better against them at home but for once i'm gonna stick up for the team. First game after that game, had everyright to be nervous and a new manager on top of that. Second half they passed it well and looked ok.
AyewJoking Posted 7 February 2008 Posted 7 February 2008 I know Capello is all new to this but what did we learn last night that we didnt already know? Sorry for being negative.

Oh....no.....saracastic face.... . . . .... . ... We are England we won 2 world wars and we are the best blah blah blah. That kinda attitude will get us nowhere Manwell. We have to respect nation like America and the Swiss now. Its not 1952 anymore mate. Oh no sarcastic face, yea don't be stealing my phrases please.

First game after that game, had everyright to be nervous and a new manager on top of that. Second half they passed it well and looked ok. Brad Friedel, Tim Howard and Kasey Keller are 3 keepers that come from America. One of those has played for Man United and in European competition both there and now at Everton. Friedel was highly regarded as one of, if not the best keeper in the Premiership not so long back. DaMarcus Beasley has played Champions League football this year, scoring aswell. At Fulham you have Bocanegra, McBride, Dempsey and i'm not sure if they actually signed him but were supposedly in for Eddie Johnson. At Reading you have Bobby Convey and Marcus Hahnemann. I really can't be arsed to go on, but the point is that alot of the USA squad are Premiership players, and arguably in the case of Landon Donovan, premiership quality.

Kasey Keller - wouldn't get in the England team even when he was bang in form Fridel- Yea probally would Howard - would be number 1 Beasley - No chance, was shit at man city and wow he has played champion league football. What about that ex watford lad who plays in turkey. He played in the champion league this season. Bocanegra- Fulham defender - say no more Mcbride- Ok but again, he's playing for fulham for a reason Johnson- I heard was coming here, Derby i heard but again nothing speical Convery - Yea ok winger but nothing speical Hahnemann- Ok but makes mistakes, James is better Donovan - Went to Germany couldn't cut it and played for LA who where piss poor last season. We should be beating teams like America easy.

Thracian Posted 7 February 2008 Posted 7 February 2008 I really feel quite guilty. I just cannot develop any interest for England at all. Nothing they do seems to matter right now. A friendly in Switzerland would have caught my imagination once, having worked in Switzerland for quite a while, but I didn't even bother to cross my living room to watch. The only teams I seem to enjoy watching these days are United, Arsenal and Spurs plus City's reserve and academy sides.
Hugo Sanchez Posted 7 February 2008 Posted 7 February 2008 Since when was this about who would get in the England team? And since when are Fulham conference standard? It started when you went on a rant about how great America are and would be a tough game for us. We should be beating the likes of america easy. Fulham are in the bottom 3 mate for a reason.

Hugo Sanchez Posted 7 February 2008 Posted 7 February 2008 You're an absolute cock. When did I ever say America were great and they would be a tough game for us? You can't hide from it. It was clear to us all you have some kinda thing with the American national SO-CC-ER team. Soon as i slated them. You got all on your high horse and started this big essay about how great they where and why should we beat them.

Hugo Sanchez Posted 7 February 2008 Posted 7 February 2008 Someone said Switzerland were conference standard, you agreed. I laughed, then proved to you they, and USA, are not. You haven't proved nothing really. Of course they aren't Conference standard but in international football they kinda are. I would rank Swiss as a league 1 club and USA as a mid table championship club. So i guess your kinda right afterall.
