ok, his form is good, but what's the point in a friendly, have to start exposing likely successors to international footy...

The bit in bold is the crucial part really.

This team has been picked on form. Jenas, Bentley, Upson amongst others would not normally get in the starting 11 even considering the injuries. I like what he's done, giving players who are performing the best the chance to stake their claim.

It will throw up some surprises but it's a great basis to pick a team, particularly when it's your first game in charge.

Did I really just hear people boo Bentley's cross?

And now they're singing "There's only one David Beckham".

WANKERS.

I wonder what it's like down Croke Park. 70,000 Irish fans watching Brazil, having a right good time... If only.

yeah, i understand that, and i think it is great, especially for players like bentlley and jenas...but we know what james can do, he doesn't need to stake his claim, and realistically, does he have another tournament in him?

btw, i think we're playing ok, nice to see some movement in an england game!

Yeah I was debating on another thread whether James has another tournament in him. He'll be 40 so it'll depend a lot on his form at that time. Seaman did it and James is a model professional so I don't see why not...

I do agree in part though that at some point we really need to be giving a younger keeper some valuable experience. Question is who? Part of the problem is that none of the them are really standing out... another reason to play James I suppose.
