Simi Posted 7 February 2008 Posted 7 February 2008 ....but only in the Premier League. This allows "More creativity for managers". To me, it says more waste of good, young English talent. Well done to the "Premier" League again.
Phube Posted 7 February 2008 Posted 7 February 2008 Just been announced on SSN, though I'm not sure whether it's Prem only at the mo'!?

Matt Posted 7 February 2008 Posted 7 February 2008 This really is a catch 22 for us fans of teams in the Championship, Yes we want to be doing well, To be doing well we want to be at the top of the Championship, If we're top of the Championship it means we'll be going into the Premiership...But I and from what i've read many others don't really particularly like the idea of the Premiership, Nowadays anyway...What do we do?!
Asha Posted 7 February 2008 Posted 7 February 2008 ....but only in the Premier League. This allows "More creativity for managers". To me, it says more waste of good, young English talent. Well done to the "Premier" League again. Does this mean seven subs or just seven players on the bench?

Simi Posted 7 February 2008 Author Posted 7 February 2008 Does this mean seven subs or just seven players on the bench? Seven subs - still three used. So 4 players are wasted.
Thracian Posted 7 February 2008 Posted 7 February 2008 And it all makes work for the working man .... And more unnecessary stoppages. We'll be having time-outs next so the TV people can squeeze some more adverts in. But the PFA will be happy.
Asha Posted 7 February 2008 Posted 7 February 2008 Seven subs - still three used.So 4 players are wasted. In which case, is there really a big difference?
Alexikokopops Posted 7 February 2008 Posted 7 February 2008 And it all makes work for the working man ....And more unnecessary stoppages. But the PFA will be happy. Seven subs on the bench, still only three allowed on the field, or so I gather.
Simi Posted 7 February 2008 Author Posted 7 February 2008 In which case, is there really a big difference? To me there is. It means squads for teams will have to get bigger. Also meaning clubs like us with promising youth players will be pinched to sit on benches at Premier League clubs. Further wasting promising talent that the FA and the Premier League say they want to nurture.
General Smuts Posted 7 February 2008 Posted 7 February 2008 Seven subs on the bench, still only three allowed on the field, or so I gather. Thats a shame if they made it 7 subs with 4 changes allowed i think it would benefit young english talent as there would be more of an oppurtunity to play themfor 10 minutes or so in a game as they will have more chance of being chosen as one of 15 than one of 14.

How is 10 minutes going to benefit them? They'd be better off staying at the lower league clubs and gaining some proper experience. The sooner the big 4 **** off the better.

If they did it the SPL way then I think you'd agree with it.
Phube Posted 7 February 2008 Posted 7 February 2008 5's too many as it is!!!!! Too right, let's go back to NO subs... that'd learn 'em!!
potter3 Posted 7 February 2008 Posted 7 February 2008 Am I the only one who doesn't mind this? It's what happens in most European leagues anyway, and also in the Champions League and UEFA cup
Joe. Posted 7 February 2008 Posted 7 February 2008 Just why though? Is is really necessary? Why all these proposed changes to football recently? And why Premiership only? I just don't get it.
Simi Posted 7 February 2008 Author Posted 7 February 2008 Just why though? Is is really necessary? Why all these proposed changes to football recently? And why Premiership only? I just don't get it. It's all just eventually going to make the gap just to big. Clubs will now be forced to buy the quality from this division more, meaning we're left with thinner squads. Which results in when teams come up, they have to spend more increasing the squad again, not forgetting the already massive gap in quality.

Just gives the manager more ootion really. Doesn't mean he needs to buy more players, when was the last time a team had a 16 man squad for the season? And the Premierships seperate from the Football League, it's up to the Football League whther they'd wnat o implement it or not.

What's happened to your sig? I disagree btw, teams would want more depth and quality, meaning more stacking would occur.
davieG Posted 7 February 2008 Posted 7 February 2008 7 Internationals on the bench instead of 5 for the rich clubs, the rest of the league's subs will be made up of loanees from the rich clubs.
Guest Posted 7 February 2008 Posted 7 February 2008 Of course it's going to make a difference. No club is going to risk using subs in reserves games, so either the reserve leagues will go, or club's will have bigger squads, or will take the best young players from elsewhere to fill the gaps.
