Going Down To Rebuild?

Recommended Posts

Yes of course we can, i was giving examples of silly reasons people give when saying relegation wouldn't be too bad, the club needs us more than ever over the next 15 games.

Thank you, sir. I'm beginning to think its not an option reading some posts.

I felt so bad yesterday that i just wanted the players to be battered by Plymouth 4, 5-0 so they can realise how shit they are. We aint lost 1 game by 3 goals this season yet, thats what the players need a real kick up the arse, a 5-0 defeat yesterday would have given them that. It also highlights how shit we actually are, rather than losing by 1 goal all the time and trying to dig out excuses for it.

So we have to lose 5 - 0 to get better? Am I missing something here?

We have been in one the last 4 years.

Even though we have lost our last two games, we are only one point closer to the drop zone. We are still 4 points clear (taking into account goal difference).

atlease we have experience of a relegation dogfight on our side :scarf:

This time 10 years ago I would have been distraught at the thought of a relegation dogfight in the Premier League. A decade on, I'm almost immune to the effects of a Championship relegation dogfight.

I know we'd lose our better players etc but Maybes came up with a fairly decent point during the game today, saying that it might be good for us, to go down for a season, to re-build a team, get a winning mentality back, get some optimism back with the supporters. It wouldn't be nice this season but in the long-term can anyone else see this benefiting us?

Personally I don't think it would, but that's just me.

I was roundly barracked yesterday when I suggested that we would be in a better position now if we'd gone down last season.

I see the point, and its one I've made in the pst myself, but now I feel that it wouldn't be the case. Either way, in the summer, a lot of rebuilding needs to be done. I'd rather rebuild in this league. On the flip side though, relegation could serve us well, in that it would rid us of this ridiculous "big club" mentality that some seem to have. It would also dispel the feeling that some have, largely as a result of never having ben relegted from this division, that we are forever safe.

Never happen - there would simply be over-played outrage if we didn't cruise League 1 by winning every game 12-0 :D

Is it me, or are quite a large portion of Leicester fans thick? I bet they are fat as well. It usually works out that way.

Why do we have to go down to improve? Holloway might be at his level in League One but apart from that I dont see any positives. Surely relegation is a disaster seeing as we're supposed to be heading back to the good old days.

Going down means less money and our best players will leave. How does that mean we can rebuild better in a poorer league. If we did and came back up, we'd probably find it harder than we are now due to the players we would have lost. It's pretty sad we are even considering this...

Rather than edit that post and adding a smiley, I seem to have done it in a quote instead. What was I saying about thick Leicester fans.... :)

Like the certain percentage of fans in the kop yesterday that, with about 3 or so mins to go, were all singing for matty fryatt? Or the ones that keep shouting 'HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUME' when he messes up a simple pass? Or the ones that sat near me, obviously drunk, just swearing "Have that plymouth t*at"and generally being annoying to everybody else in that stand? :yesyes::whistle:

But what if we didn't come straight back up?We could easily get another losing mentality and suddenly we'd be the new Bradford.

I can't see any positives in going down, except tickets might be cheaper.

I think it may have something to do with the sense of anticipation of good things to come every time I hear the words "going down"

No way!!!

I dont agree with the going down to rebuild crap!!

We have had long enough to rebuild, ok so we have had a lot of unrest at the club and we have been very unstable for sometime... But this is where it starts... FFS give Ollie more time than this!!!

He deserves a whole season to be fair.... Im not happy like all of us, but if we keep sacking managers then we are going nowhere, our club is a mess at the moment, but im still confident that he is the right man we need to get us out of this.... I just hope milan backs him all the way!!!

Its all about sticking together and making it happen... Lets all get behind our team and show our loyal support to OUR club!!

We will not go down!!! We will bounce back!!!

Keep the faith!!!

(for now at least.....) lol

Relegation would be disaster.

Plain and simple.

Anyone who thinks we would bounce straight back up is deluded.

Anyone who thinks there is NO CHANCE we "Aint going down" is deluded

MM hasnt come her to take command of a League One club.

This is not the fairytale he imagined it would be.

It hasn't done at Forest or Leeds, and I doubt it would do so here either.

In terms of this league, we ARE a big club - our stadium, attendances and recent history (Premier League era) prove that, as do the salaries of the playing and managerial staff. Why do so many away teams play above themselves when visiting us?

Next time one of the gargoyles comes on here to gloat about yesterday, ask them the last time THEIR club had a home gate of 21000+. I bet they weren't even born! lol

There's NO positive side to relegation, though - as we've seen since 2004, there's no guarantee when, or even if, we'll EVER return to the league above.

I was on their forum earlier and they regarded the match yesterday as one of their greatest ever away days :crylaugh:

This big club mentality some people have annoys the hell out of me. Someone mentioned it in one of the other threads, there are about 8 big clubs in this country, then there are 20-30 medium ish clubs which is the category we fall into, then we have the rest.

We are about on par with half of this league. Leeds and Wednesday, I regard as bigger clubs than us. And then we thave the rest.

If there was a guarantee that we would go down and come back up next season with a better settled squad then of course it would be worth doing however the reality is that its hard to get out of the lower leagues as the so called lesser teams will always raise their game against us.

The other issue is that our better players would leave and we wouldnt be able to attract that good a player down to the "third" division.

We need to keep our Championship status and get a settled squad and from there, who knows?

It probably is, given that they'll never see their team reach the Premier League or a proper cup final..
