Nath. Posted 14 February 2008 Posted 14 February 2008 Dundee v St Mirren, stottish cup, last night. Looked innefectual in the first half, but second half he looked just the player we need! Like at the start of the season, showing great promise. Dundee were playing the high ball, and DeVries was winning every header for the flick on, even set up another player with a good flick on to produce a fine overhead kick, from which the keeper saved brilliantly. Now tell me why we got rid of him and brought more strikers older than him! Fair enough, get rid of the others who tried but failed miserably (Cort, Newton), but correct me if im wrong, at the start of the season, was DeVries not one of the few players trying hard and putting the effort in??? Now were left with a team that couldnt even win the Johnstones Paint Trophy!

After he got sent out on loan I don't really think there was any way back for him. Was a shame though as he generally looked as though he wanted to be here, just a case of little too late. St Mirren I've been to a few games at their home ground(rough area, shite ground, low standard football(bit like leicester )) but the way we're playing they'd throughly do us over.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 14 February 2008 Posted 14 February 2008 Obviously we haven't played Watford at home this season blah blah fucking blah, but he gave Shittu a damn sight more to think about than Howard or Campbell did on Tuesday.
Darkzzz_ Posted 14 February 2008 Posted 14 February 2008 Plymouth!! To be fair Playmouth are a much better side than St Mirren.... I agree with his effort at the begining of the season, but to be honest De Vries was one of these players that was usefull and could play if he wanted to... He was usefull for what he was half decent at, winning the ball for flick on's and holding it up etc.. The thing is though, he never used to turn up... and often it just looked as if sloth was playing at front for us!!! I am glad to see the back of him to be honest, he just isnt championship standard....

Possible reasons (pick one from three): ========================= a) Scoffing all the pies. b) Penis envy in the showers. c) Not scoring any goals.
clazkel Posted 14 February 2008 Posted 14 February 2008 When Martin Allen was at the club he had faith in De Vries and it was paying off in De Vries performances, i think he could've still done a job for us! As soon as Allen was gone, they practically got rid of De Vries (i don't think MM wanting De Vries being played but Allen kept playing him, and good on him as he was improving)

LeeCovFox Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 Happens to me all the time You shouldn't be envious of other men's willies. Remember, its not the meat, its the motion.
bob falange Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 I remember Mark De Vries in the famous FA Cup tie against Spurs, which we brilliantly won. In the post-match interview you could see that he had "given his all" for Leicester, with excellent results. He stood there, dripping with sweat and unable to speak and showing his total commitment to the Foxes (as, incidentally, did Stephen Hughes). Mark was a real hero for us, but the club did not fully reward his loyalty as it deserved. I wish him well.
lcfc_jme Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 Possible reasons (pick one from three):========================= b) Penis envy in the showers. Most certainly the correct answer ! On a more serious note, I can't understand why de Vries wasn't persisted with this season. As Fez pointed out, he caused Shittu a lot of problems earlier in the season, more so than most other strikers in this division, including the ones currently parading themselves as footballers in our first team. When de Vries was actually given the chance, he hasn't actually been any worse than the strikers still on the books. The only thing that worked against MDV this season, for me, was the fact that he's not Iain "I Can Do No Wrong" Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu uuuuuuuuuuuuume.

DB11 Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 I thought he was finally starting to look a lot better and definitely trying harder.
Ric Flair Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 2 goals this season at various levels says it all really and this season has been one of his 'better' years. Good grief, if people really think de Vries is the answer to all our problems then it just highlights how pathetic we really are.
Durnerz Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 He had the best part of 2-3 seasons to impress us but hes about as consistant as Al Qaeida. The fact that we pine to have him back/ should have kept him on underlines our desperation.
Moreton Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 He'll start to put alot of good performances in for Dundee as every shit player who is at Leicester goes to another club and becomes a whole new player. Its what happens everytime. Im so depressed
Number1flanker Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 I thought De Vris was looking a hundred times better!!! Shame Holloway didnt think so Would have been good because crosses would be easier for him to head home and he was trying!
Flynny Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 He had the best part of 2-3 seasons to impress us but hes about as consistant as Al Qaeida. Can we sign him? Who is he? An explosive forward?
Fox You Forest Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 Can we sign him? Who is he? An explosive forward? I heard he can get through any defences with ease.
Flynny Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 I heard he can get through any defences with ease. Thanks for not only replying to, but embellishing perhaps the shittiest joke I ever made.
