Koke Posted 8 March 2008 Posted 8 March 2008 that's not the point, the problem is Hume is visibly sulking on the pitch when playing in midfield, and when he chases the ball down to win it the crowd all go "HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUME" most of them not realizing that he's normally the one that lost it in the 1st place, and when Clapham/Stearman has the ball and is advancing he hardly ever makes a run up the line to give the full back more then 1 option, mostly he drops in behind him Yes that annoys me too. But the lad does more good than bad. That's a fact. I'll tell you what annoys me more than the "Huuuume" chant, its the ****ing Da da da Matty ****ing Fryatt.
Jimmy Posted 8 March 2008 Posted 8 March 2008 Yes, as i've said Hume should of had a hat trick at half time, but it doesnt detract from the fact that the messiah Fryatt has missed a chance (and a good one).If he was as good as everyone makes out, he would of buried it and started a rout. you could also say if he'd had a run of starts he may well of ... that said I don't think he is the "Messiah" juts worty of a couple of starts Yes that annoys me too. But the lad does more good than bad. That's a fact. I'll tell you what annoys me more than the "Huuuume" chant, its the ****ing Da da da Matty ****ing Fryatt. yeah I was pissed off with that when we were creating chances and the strikers were doing well
Simi Posted 8 March 2008 Posted 8 March 2008 Yes that annoys me too. But the lad does more good than bad. That's a fact. I'll tell you what annoys me more than the "Huuuume" chant, its the ****ing Da da da Matty ****ing Fryatt. Damn right. Absolutely ****s me off. There is no need for it when either of our strikers does something wrong, complete shit. They're an embarrassment. I'll support him when he comes on, but until then it's shit.
Koke Posted 8 March 2008 Posted 8 March 2008 All our forwards, plus Oakley and Hendrie, were guilty of missing chances and I'm quite sure it showed that nervousness and anxiety are creeping into our play.Holloway and, indeed, the fans now, should focus on the number of really good chances we created and I had to wonder was it just coincidence that Clemence was missing?. One fan going out thought we could have had eight. That was never likely and he conveniently ignored Bristol's two or three near things. But we really might have had five. However, I mentioned a month ago that nervousness would be a big enemy if we didn't start scoring goals and winning and this was probably the first game that nervousness has truly manifested itself. Today's performance was a good one except for the finishing but it's Holloway who has the responsibility to get the players believing that, with endless patience, the ball will go in if they only keep believing in making the runs into the box. Blaming people won't help the situation one bit but I do believe Holloway needs to look at which players are most likely to deliver the goals he needs. And I certainly wouldn't describe Mattock as a better bet than Andy King for scoring/creating things. I agree. But I don't think Holloway could have done much more. The balance was right, the team selection was right and he got them playing an attacking game. Its the players fault that they couldnt bury those chances. I also agree that King is a more likely goal score than Mattock, but in todays circumstances, we would've looked unbalanced with 3 CM in there. I think Ollie wanted to keep the width and Mattock being a left sided player, he was the ideal choice.
The Reverend Posted 8 March 2008 Posted 8 March 2008 you could also say if he'd had a run of starts he may well of ... that said I don't think he is the "Messiah" juts worty of a couple of startsyeah I was pissed off with that when we were creating chances and the strikers were doing well Hang on, didnt Fryatt have a run in the team at the start of the season, and scored about 2/3 goals. It isnt good enough.
Jimmy Posted 8 March 2008 Posted 8 March 2008 Hang on, didnt Fryatt have a run in the team at the start of the season, and scored about 2/3 goals. It isnt good enough. no because he didn't lay until about September, he got a mini run when Ollie came in then got sent off and has never got back in
davieG Posted 8 March 2008 Author Posted 8 March 2008 no because he didn't lay until about September, he got a mini run when Ollie came in then got sent off and has never got back in Fryatt has started 21 league and cup games and scored 3 times
Thracian Posted 8 March 2008 Posted 8 March 2008 I agree. But I don't think Holloway could have done much more. I think Ollie wanted to keep the width and Mattock being a left sided player, he was the ideal choice. He could have taken a N'Gotty or McAuley off. Bristol were content to hit on the break so four defenders were hardly nececessary and the risk would have been worth it. The way our rivals in the basement are performing I would say that victories rather than draws were paramount. It may not be foolproof but sometimes you have to go with all guns blazing.
Solihullfox Posted 8 March 2008 Posted 8 March 2008 I was in posh corporate today which gave me the opportunity to speak to some Brissle fans. They could not believe that they got away with that scoreline. Best scenario was not being 2 or 3 down at half time and in reality should have been 5 from us with their two efforts off the woodwork being straw grasping. It just was not going to go in for us today which either means we are the unluckiest team in the division at the moment or our destiny is written and we are going down. Personally I think the luck will break our way and we will survive and with a little bit of common sense from within the club, we will allow a decent crop of players to play together between now, pre season and the start of next season and prove us all wrong by producing "gelled" performances that will take the club forward.
The Reverend Posted 8 March 2008 Posted 8 March 2008 no because he didn't lay until about September, he got a mini run when Ollie came in then got sent off and has never got back in Fryatts Stats They suggest hes had more than enough chances to me...
Daggers Posted 8 March 2008 Posted 8 March 2008 I'm actually starting to regret that pre-season debacle... I'm starting to regret being born in Kirkby Muxloe.
termite111 Posted 8 March 2008 Posted 8 March 2008 How dare you criticize Fryatt . He's dreadfully unlucky to be on the bench and should start every match, 'cos he'll bag 20 a season.HUUUUUUMMMMEEEE. i'm sorry but that is bollocks he had his chance last year and didn't do anything. and for hume 1 very good game in 6

Daggers Posted 8 March 2008 Posted 8 March 2008 i'm sorry but that is bollocks he had his chance last year and didn't do anything. and for hume 1 very good game in 6 Irony: a literary or rhetorical device, in which there is an incongruity or discordance between what a speaker or a writer says; and what he or she means, or is generally understood. In modern usage it can also refer to particularly striking examples of incongruities observed in everyday life between what was intended or said and what actually happened. There is some argument about what is or is not ironic, but all the different senses of irony revolve around the perceived notion of an incongruity between what is said and what is meant; or between an understanding of reality, or an expectation of a reality, and what actually happens. Irony can be funny, but it does not have to be.
