Calum McDermott Posted 9 March 2008 Posted 9 March 2008 Does anyone else think that DJ campbell is really beginning to find his form now he has had a run in the team even though he isnt scoring. I think that he is sharper and quicker than he has been this season. He has been working hard than ever chasing down balls. For example against bristol there were a few times he put pressure on bristols back line and they made a mess of it (one of humes chances were made by DJ because, he pressured their CB's. He also, created the other chance for hume. Finally, for a small player he holds the ball up excellently and brings other players into the game. Agree/Disagree.
DB11 Posted 9 March 2008 Posted 9 March 2008 Not really. He is going to end up like Hume. Doesn't score but people like him because of his work rate. Well guess what? Strikers score! Midfielders are supposed to be renowned for their work rate etc.
Joe. Posted 9 March 2008 Posted 9 March 2008 I've always like DJ to be honest, he just needed a run in the side. He's had a tough season really broken up by injuries. Just nice to see him back to be honest. The last couple of games I've seen him in, Bristol and Cardiff, he's been pretty good, causing defences problems. Would just be nice to see him get a goal to get his confidence up a bit.
Calum McDermott Posted 9 March 2008 Author Posted 9 March 2008 I think seven goals from right midfield is very good. Also, i mentioned that DJ isnt scoring and you just repeated that?
Southern Fox Posted 9 March 2008 Posted 9 March 2008 Thought DJ was superb on Saturday. Didnt see the Preston game but by all accounts everyone was poor that night. The goals will come for him. He has a bit of class about him and you can see the match fitness/sharpness coming back. His workrate was superb v Bristol City and I agree his hold up play was excellent
Jack Posted 9 March 2008 Posted 9 March 2008 I rate Deej. His pace cause defences all sorts of troubles as we have seen over the last few games. He has impressed me since coming back from his injury. Now he just needs a goal to get his confidence up and then im sure he will start to score a bit more often.
LcFc D3C Posted 9 March 2008 Posted 9 March 2008 er nope dont rate or like him at all and hate howard too

What a waste of money, another awful allen signing. He is only good as a supersub, thats all he did at birmingham!
Leicester Lass Posted 9 March 2008 Posted 9 March 2008 Well no, he isn't finding his form because he's not scoring goals. Missed two guilt-edged chances at Cardiff, and was never in the thick of the goal-mouth action yesterday. However, you can tell each game he plays he's becoming more and more confident making better runs and better use of the ball. Sadly, we can't afford much longer to wait for him to find his goal-scoring touch.
Jimmy Posted 9 March 2008 Posted 9 March 2008 I think seven goals from right midfield is very good. Also, i mentioned that DJ isnt scoring and you just repeated that? Hume scored the majority of his goals as a striker
LcFc D3C Posted 9 March 2008 Posted 9 March 2008 Reasons ? well howard is slow and very rarely wins headers and campbell isnt fully fit, doesnt put himself out and cannot finish
Samilktray Posted 9 March 2008 Posted 9 March 2008 well howard is slow and very rarely wins headers and campbell isnt fully fit, doesnt put himself out and cannot finish If this is the case then surely you cant make a full judgment on him.
Thracian Posted 9 March 2008 Posted 9 March 2008 well howard is slow and very rarely wins headers and campbell isnt fully fit, doesnt put himself out and cannot finish Howard to me is far too easy for opposition defenders to negate. He has certain ability but sadly one gear only - slow. I would look to play a much more positive line-up which included all our faster forwards and people who are capable of constant movement. Howard may serve as a worthwhile option of the bench - as an addition to our attacking force not as a replacement. We'll must look towards 3-4-3 or 3-5-2 because that's the only way I can see us mustering enough fire power. Having an orthodox 4-4-2 with non-scoring midfielders just won't produce enough goals often enough from anything I've seen.
Head Honcho Posted 9 March 2008 Posted 9 March 2008 I reckon so far we've lost £1.3 million on him. His performances put him in the £300k bracket. That could be down to his injury-in which case we ain't gonna get a penny back for him! Martin Allen tucked us up like kippers as far as DJ is concerned!
maddog Posted 9 March 2008 Posted 9 March 2008 Howard has looked very slow so far, and his body language against Preston reminded me of Fryatt, he just looked like he couldn't be arsed. He should have scored a lot of headers for us, for some reason he hardly jumps when he heads it. He's had a lot of great heading chances and just doesn't get over the ball. What Ollie needs to get in his head is we don't need a big man up front. So far Howard has been no better than Cort was this season.
Thracian Posted 9 March 2008 Posted 9 March 2008 I'd love to have a player like DJ in any team of mine. He's so hard to mark and pumped full of confidence he'd score goals and cause enough havoc for others to score too. We've sometimes found it so hard to create genuine opportunities this season yet, Coventry excepted, there's been no shortage of chances since DJ's been back and that's no coincidence.
Asha Posted 9 March 2008 Posted 9 March 2008 Yeah I said in another thread he's my favourite player. Would be prolific with better service and a run in the team.
Calum McDermott Posted 9 March 2008 Author Posted 9 March 2008 Disagree, he is shocking! What a waste of money, another awful allen signing. He is only good as a supersub, thats all he did at birmingham! He scored 13 goals in 18 appearances so how is he schocking? He hasn't been shocking for leicester either, i guess your a matty fryatt lover?
Calum McDermott Posted 9 March 2008 Author Posted 9 March 2008 Hume scored the majority of his goals as a striker He has played right wing virtually all season! Name the goals he has scored playing up front then.
Sods Posted 9 March 2008 Posted 9 March 2008 Played very well last few games until he gets inside the penalty box. I really thought he would score more after the Norwich game but it hasn't happened. Anyway what a touch in the second half from the lad after a big punt up pitch.
SPF07 Posted 9 March 2008 Posted 9 March 2008 well howard is slow and very rarely wins headers and campbell isnt fully fit, doesnt put himself out and cannot finish Did you see the game on sat and the last few for that matter. DJ was best player on the pitch by a million miles. Holloways decision to take him off was shocking
SPF07 Posted 9 March 2008 Posted 9 March 2008 He scored 13 goals in 18 appearances so how is he schocking? He hasn't been shocking for leicester either, i guess your a matty fryatt lover? Your response to that idiot were brilliant. The best coments and most realistic on the forum at present
