davieG Posted 12 March 2008 Posted 12 March 2008 Let's not be too keen to think that relegation has any plus points. From a financial perspective it could end up as a nigh on terminal disease. Ok we've got Mandrich but he hasn't got a bottomless pit of money leastwise not that he would be prepared to throw at LCFC. Consider that even with his money our income is insufficient to pay the stadium instalments, well it wasn't last season and I don't see that our income has gone up by any significant amount if at all. Milan reckons he's invested £11mill but is that in hard cash or as loans? One thing's for sure he'll only get a fraction of it back from selling our failed players, which will be the inevitable consequences of relegation. So where does that leave us: An ongoing stadium debt that will be even harder to meet with lower gate and lower income right across the board. A significant chunk of MM's £11mill never to be seen again A total team rebuild will be inevitable (OK there are some plus points ) but even that can cost money with new contracts etc. Will this 'new squad' be good enough if we managed to go straight back up, probably not? So even if we bounced back it would be another team rebuild and an expensive one at that - £5mill to £10mill - would MM want to finance that No, financially relegation is the last thing we need (obviously) there are no silver linings, administration could happen again, I'm sure MM is not beyond some financial legal sleight of hand that enables him to be financially in the black whilst LCFC end up even further in the red. Irrespective of the demise of our claim to fame as one of 9, the prospect of grass roots football at grass roots stadia I fear for the future of LCFC.

dandannieldanok Posted 12 March 2008 Posted 12 March 2008 Will Foxestalk go into administration / or bust ?
davieG Posted 12 March 2008 Author Posted 12 March 2008 Will Foxestalk go into administration / or bust ? If we keep having relegation battles away from home, which we will, well at least one this saturday it will probably collapse in on itself.
AyewJoking Posted 12 March 2008 Posted 12 March 2008 Teams would take the piss and offer less for our more desirable players. We'd have to accept the money as I cant see any of them wanting to stay and we might want to reduce the wage bill anyway.

ronnup Posted 12 March 2008 Posted 12 March 2008 http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/7290681.stm let's hope their finances are considerably worse than ours. I'll take a kicking on moral grounds for this considering our last promotion/administration season but I think Colchester and Scunny are screwed. This would help me sleep. Tight yes. But League 1? It makes me feel sick.

Actually if Southampton are in the same boat I'd rather they went under- all the millions they screwed out for Bale, Walcott and Kenwyne Jones and the feckers still cant pay their debts
davieG Posted 12 March 2008 Author Posted 12 March 2008 WE ARE STAYING UP! Stop shouting - why has the threat of relegation got hordes of you writing in upper case?

DanTheFoxBhoy Posted 12 March 2008 Posted 12 March 2008 My fear is that if we go down, we're not coming back up for a long time. East Midlands football is fooked in general. We would emulate Nottingham Forest in League One, maybe coming back up in a few years.
