Alexikokopops Posted 9 April 2008 Posted 9 April 2008 Henry ain't the only big name player who has been accused of bottling it in the big games. Up until this season Ronaldo had the same charge levelled against him. And Adebayor will never be the equal of either, not in a million years. The one thing you can't accuse Henry of is selfishness. He would ALWAYS pass to a team mate who was in a better position to score - he never signed up to the nonsensical ENGLISH bollocks that all strikers must be innately selfish (and then moronic punters wonder why England never win anything when their players run around with their heads stuffed full of shit like that). One of the few big time English players who seems to instinctively understand the importance of the Carling Opta assists stats is Mr W. Rooney Esq. and it's both interesting and extremely annoying to observe how few commentators give him credit for that. I've even coing my own term for this myopic condition - technical illiteracy (it'll never catch on). Adebayor scored freely when Arsenal were playing well. But once his supply lines were cut his goal column stayed static. A fair man would place Ade behind Ronaldo, Torres and Berbatov. Going on current form I couldn't imagine any of them spurning the gilt edged opportunity that Adebyor was presented with tonight. You see great strikers don't panic when they have time on the ball in front of goal. Plus Torres is a sexy beast.
Manwell Pablo Posted 9 April 2008 Posted 9 April 2008 "whose antics in the latter half of the season have cost his team more than one title" Em...If he didnt bang in the amount of goals he has done(considering he was basically a reserve last year!) Arsenal would probably not be in the Top 10 never mind the Top 4!!! And to have a pop at him for being self centred....Thierry Henry???...Mr slap my chest when i score a hat trick against the likes of Wigan..but cant do fcuk all in the BIG domestic games( Notice i put DOMESTIC!!! as i realise he's won The World Cup and probably loads of other stuff too!) I know you said domestic but he was brilliant in the Champions League when Arsenal got to the final seeing of the likes of Juve and Real Madrid.
Chandler Posted 9 April 2008 Posted 9 April 2008 I don't see you taking back your comment about him taking the credit for the goal though, for shame. That's because I haven't seen a replay that backs up your version of events. When I do I'll get back to you. Slightly off tack - none of the after match reports even mentioned Theo's remarkable run probably because (a) he didn't score from it (b) the goal that he created proved not to be the winner and © there's a deep prejudice in the media against any player who has a face like 'Tom' just after he's been wanged by 'Jerry' with a flat iron.
Joe. Posted 9 April 2008 Posted 9 April 2008 I'd like to see Liverpool win it to be honest. Today I've heard so much bollocks about them being lucky in this competition. It's all a load of crap if you ask me. I want an English team to win it and I don't like Chelsea or United and to be honest I think Liverpool have got the best chance of winning it anyway. In Europe they can beat anybody, it doesn't matter who it is.
General lee Posted 9 April 2008 Posted 9 April 2008 I hate Liverpool more then anyone or anything. People down the pub yesterday with there Liverpool shirts on make me sick and the press and tv going on how great they are in europe. I was the only one in the pub yesterday who cheered when Arsenal scored. Why do people think Liverpool fans are so great ? They make alot of noise when they play at home in europe but do they on a saturday afternoon playing derby or reading ?
Flexx Posted 9 April 2008 Posted 9 April 2008 My mate has gone to Old Trafford tonight to watch the game Lucky git. Today was funny, on the way back from some college trip we saw a few coaches taking Man U fans up to Manchester, and we were all giving them the V's. haha

Flexx Posted 9 April 2008 Posted 9 April 2008 Shipping in fans nationwide. Pathetic. So i'm guessing they are Die Hard Mancs then ... Yeah, if i remember correctly it said London on the coach! But fair play to my mate, his nan and grandad are die hard mancs and live up there, he get's the coach up there quite often on his own. So he isn't a normal glory fan. By the way, he sits with his nan and grandad, he don't sit on his own Can't stand people who support one of the 'big four' and have never seen a game. Why do they waste their money buying the shirts?
Uncle Albert Posted 9 April 2008 Author Posted 9 April 2008 Im looking for an English team to support. Arsenal i followed right through the competition they play immense football. Chelsea and Liverpool are both the same old boring rubbish and Man United i can't bring myself to support. Plus. Over rated piece of shit. I cant stand him. He was never the third best player in the world last year.
lildave3 Posted 9 April 2008 Posted 9 April 2008 Over rated piece of shit.I cant stand him. He was never the third best player in the world last year. Who was then?
Flexx Posted 9 April 2008 Posted 9 April 2008 Im going for 2-1 to Roma on the night, but United just edging it.
General lee Posted 9 April 2008 Posted 9 April 2008 Over rated piece of shit.I cant stand him. He was never the third best player in the world last year. Better then Torres is Messi. I would say he's the best player to come out of Argentina since Claudio Caniggia.
Uncle Albert Posted 9 April 2008 Author Posted 9 April 2008 Who was then? Someone who was consistent throughout the year for me like Drogba.
Joe. Posted 9 April 2008 Posted 9 April 2008 I'm going for Man Utd and Barca wins tonight. These two should both be strong enough to beat their opponents.
Flexx Posted 9 April 2008 Posted 9 April 2008 Better then Torres is Messi. I would say he's the best player to come out of Argentina since Claudio Caniggia. Don't be silly. Thats Mauro Zarate.
lildave3 Posted 9 April 2008 Posted 9 April 2008 Someone who was consistent throughout the year for me like Drogba. Did you watch most of Barcelonas games last season then?
Uncle Albert Posted 9 April 2008 Author Posted 9 April 2008 Did you watch most of Barcelonas games last season then? Yea I seen him ripping nobody teams apart. Compared to Drogba who did against alot better teams in The Premier League that the Spanish League.
Flexx Posted 9 April 2008 Posted 9 April 2008 Messi is over rated. If i was Barca manager, I would be on the phone to Mandaric going for some sort of swap deal + cash of course for Ricky Sappleton.
Samilktray Posted 9 April 2008 Posted 9 April 2008 Yea I seen him ripping nobody teams apart. Compared to Drogba who did against alot better teams in The Premier League that the Spanish League. The Spanish League is better, or should i say has a better quality of teams through out the league.
lildave3 Posted 9 April 2008 Posted 9 April 2008 Yea I seen him ripping nobody teams apart. Compared to Drogba who did against alot better teams in The Premier League that the Spanish League. You can only beat what's put in front of you. The Spanish League is better, or should i say has a better quality of teams through out the league. And that I disagree with
Samilktray Posted 9 April 2008 Posted 9 April 2008 You can only beat what's put in front of you.And that I disagree with How often do we have a team of Sevillas stature challenging for the title until the last game of the season?
lildave3 Posted 9 April 2008 Posted 9 April 2008 How often do we have a team of Sevillas stature challenging for the title until the last game of the season? What, one of the four best teams in the league?
Samilktray Posted 9 April 2008 Posted 9 April 2008 What, one of the four best teams in the league? What im trying to say is that the teams further down the table in La Liga are better sides than the ones we have in a similar position. Or at least i think anyway.
Flexx Posted 9 April 2008 Posted 9 April 2008 Only 9 different teams have won La Liga since it was founded in 1929.
