FleckneyFox Posted 7 April 2008 Posted 7 April 2008 http://www.sheffieldunited-mad.co.uk/news/...1&id=386469 Leicester City are to put a bid in to sign United manager Kevin Blackwell at the end of the season when his contract is up according to The People...Blackwell's current record as Blades manager is 4 draws, 2 losses and 5 wins. United were doomed for relegation with ex England captain Bryan Robson in charge but Blackwell has stepped in and turned Sheffield United's fortunes around. According to The People newspaper, Milan Mandaric (Chairman of Leicester City) is to offer Blackwell a contract at the end of the season. Ian Holloway's reign at the Walkers Stadium isn't looking good as Leicester currently sit 20th in the table tied with Sheffield Wednesday. Great. Im sure its b/s.
dandannieldanok Posted 7 April 2008 Posted 7 April 2008 Isn't this the same newspaper that copied the 'Elvis to Mallorca £1m move' from football-rumours.com
Thracian Posted 7 April 2008 Posted 7 April 2008 Total nonsense in my view. Mandaric doesn't know the outcome to this season and I'm quite sure Blackwell won't fancy managing Leicester City in Division One when he can aim a half decent Sheffield United side at the Premiership. One day we might hear some sense talked.
Mark Posted 7 April 2008 Posted 7 April 2008 Well I wouldn't want him. He is simply having the same effect Rob Kelly had here. If he's in charge at Sheff Utd next season I wouldn't be surprised to see them in the bottom half again struggling.
Ashley Posted 7 April 2008 Posted 7 April 2008 No thanks. Holloway will do good for us next season in the Championship.
smokey Posted 7 April 2008 Posted 7 April 2008 I think he'd be good. I agree, think Ollie will do great next year if fans leave him alone at let him have a summer to get his own side, ideas etc in place!
Flynny Posted 7 April 2008 Posted 7 April 2008 Ollie should be stuck with but Blackwell would be a damned decent replacement. Massively intelligent bloke, spent his time out of the game trying to improve himself as a manager. Really can't fault that kind of commitment and determinaton.
The Stig Posted 7 April 2008 Posted 7 April 2008 The Hollowayometer would like a word with you. Meaning?
lookwhaticando Posted 8 April 2008 Posted 8 April 2008 Did reasonably well at Leeds (for a while). And then set them on course for relegation. Bit of a mixed bag, really. Not convinced there's much basis to the story (it's from The People, after all) but you never call tell with Mandaric.

Fair play to the guy for stepping in when no-one else would but: He's tactically inept (4-5-1 in a playoff final) Can't control a dressing room (led to our relegation). Strangest substitutions I've ever seen. Comes out with the same tired old excuses after every loss or inept performance- these really grate after a few bad games- guess who he never blamed... Squandered millions on shite. A lot of old shite too. Hoofball. Couldn't motivate for rocking horse shit. We were also very 'lucky' in our play-off season- 13+ penalties I believe. Luton fans will paint the same picture of a poor manager who's out of his depth. You don't want him, trust me! The story is probably rubbish anyway tbh.
Koke Posted 8 April 2008 Posted 8 April 2008 I don't want him here. Getting rid of Holloway and appointing this knuckle head is like going two steps backwards. Holloway >> Blackwell

Sheffield United fans seemed happy to have him back - Probably because he's ''one of them'' or something

This is more accurate reflection of the guy - never rated him. Blackwell would be a damned decent replacement. Massively intelligent bloke, spent his time out of the game trying to improve himself as a manager. Really can't fault that kind of commitment and determinaton. Is he? Never really struck me as one.

Phlashman Posted 9 April 2008 Posted 9 April 2008 Sounds like one of those things put out there by agents to make the blades hurry up with giving him a proper contract.
