Jordan Posted 11 April 2008 Posted 11 April 2008 Haha, I guess it's easier for us because just about all of our chants go to the same tune (Let's go Ran-gers, Scot-ty Go-mez, etc.). But speaking of Filbert Way/goal songs etc., two of us who were at the game last night were at the Preston game in March and I was singing along to the sweet sounds of the Blue Army, but unfortunately there weren't many others in the front of E2 that were joining in, too... and not that I particularly like "Chelsea Dagger," but I wish I would have heard it that night! (I guess that linesman REALLY hates that song). Next year, I hope to be writing here about going to games where both the Rangers AND City were making runs for the playoffs and beyond (though for LCFC, I'd prefer League Championship playoffs over League One playoffs, if they don't mind).

L1 or k is the place to be
MC Prussian Posted 11 April 2008 Posted 11 April 2008 The other 15 teams in the playoffs don't! Yeah, it's a real shame, innit?
MC Prussian Posted 14 May 2009 Posted 14 May 2009 Glad to see the Pens made the playoffs again.Crosby & Malkin - pure dynamite! I only hope Sid the Kid stays healthy. This thread has been dormant for more than an entire year!!! And the Penguins have just reached the Eastern Conference finals once again, after thrashing long-lasting rivals Washington 6-2 in the seventh and last game of that series. I hope Pittsburgh fare better than last year - which means, making it all the way to the Stanley Cup, of course!!! With a healthy Crosby, a still emerging Malkin, veteran players like Guerin, Satan or Gonchar and a suprisingly consistant Fleury in the net, they'll be harder to beat this time around. However, I expect the Bruins winning their last game against the Hurricanes tonight and they'll be stiff competition, having reached the second most points in the regular season. As for the Western Conference, would love to see Chicago beating either Detroit or Anaheim in their respective semi-final. And then... it's going to be 1992 revisited!!! GO PENS!!!
Finnegan Posted 14 May 2009 Posted 14 May 2009 Surprised I missed this thread the first time around, I do enjoy a bit of hockey! It's all about this, mind: Heroes
SemperEadem Posted 14 May 2009 Posted 14 May 2009 Went to see the caps last game of the season and have become totally hooked. They lost last night but was a great series to go to game 7.
Smiffy Posted 14 May 2009 Posted 14 May 2009 Surprised I missed this thread the first time around, I do enjoy a bit of hockey! It's all about this, mind: Heroes Think you might be a bit disappointed tonight!! Its the Canes way to win it at the last opportunity!
Finnegan Posted 14 May 2009 Posted 14 May 2009 Think you might be a bit disappointed tonight!! Its the Canes way to win it at the last opportunity! It's not the same without Glen Murray, anyway. Hope I can find something on Justin TV, mind. I think it's about 3am our time and no doubt I'll still be up.

Kilworthfox Posted 14 May 2009 Author Posted 14 May 2009 You won't have to wait long. With some promising young players--particularly forwards Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews--and the legendary Denis Savard as head coach, the 'hawks have the potential to be a good team in the coming years. They narrowly missed out on the playoffs this year after a miserable season in 2006/07 and I think they'll show more improvement next season, too. You were not wrong my friend! But can they go on & win it? I have not watched them at all this season, and they look to have had a great season!
MC Prussian Posted 14 May 2009 Posted 14 May 2009 You were not wrong my friend! But can they go on & win it? I have not watched them at all this season, and they look to have had a great season! Should be a juicy Western Conference finale. Provided Detroit make it there. Original Six classic and all. Stanley Cup's gotta go East this time, though.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 14 May 2009 Posted 14 May 2009 Another reason for me to dislike Setanta - taking away a big majority of live hockey on channel 5 the barstewards! Channel 5's coverage is dire this year, no Nick Halling, no guy from the quiz show, no quite funny but very nerdy stat guy who was proberly Canadian. Sadly The Leafs and Oilers were no-where this season :-(
Jordan Posted 15 May 2009 Posted 15 May 2009 Nail-biting time--especially in Detroit now... The Penguins... wow, what a finish to the season, and now this... what an ass-kicking in Washington last night. Total domination on the road. I'll have a hard time believing that the Bruins-Canes winner will be able to knock them out. They had too much talent to be struggling as they did for most of the regular season. Therien really deserved to be fired for such underachievement, and the new guy behind the bench, Dan Bylsma, is an instant legend. And yes, Kilworth, I'm pleased with my Hawks prediction--but I was wrong about Savard... he was fired after 4 games this season! I thought that was madness. They brought in great-regular-season-coach, horrible-playoffs-coach Joel Quenneville--which I thought was more madness--but really seems to have gotten the most out of them. they don't have any Crosbys or Malkins, but they've got such a solid group of young players that can be one of the better teams in the league for seasons to come with a few smart moves here and there. Getting Brian Campbell this summer was a shitload of money well spent, as he only made their solid group of defensemen better. And having two good goalies has shown against conventional wisdom that it's not a waste of money in a salary-cap league as Quenneville has gotten the most out of whichever goalie has been hot. Right now, it's Khabibulin. My Rangers beat the Hawks in OT at the United Center back in January in what may have been the most poorly-officiated NHL game I've ever seen.
Jordan Posted 15 May 2009 Posted 15 May 2009 Watching bits and pieces. I don't get the channel in my bedroom, so I'm popping out to the living room to catch a little of that and Magic-C's every few minutes. Not looking good for the B's... down 2-1 after 2, and still have a few seconds of power-play time to kill... I'm fooking exhausted and I've got 10 hours of work tomorrow, so I think I'm gonna go to sleep instead of watching the 3rd... yeah, I'm a pussy. Forgot to add that the Red Wings go through with a late winner... those bastards are just too good to lose. At least we'll have a good ol' time hockey, Original Six match-up for the Western Conference finals.

Carolina look a lot more threatening going forward than Boston.
MC Prussian Posted 15 May 2009 Posted 15 May 2009 Nooo, Boston out. And Hiller couldn't save Anaheim. Well, Chicago vs. Detroit now. Instant classic. Not sure what to make of the Hurricanes. Kicking out the best team in the East surely is a huge achievement. Hopefully, the Pens will do them in six at most.
MC Prussian Posted 22 May 2009 Posted 22 May 2009 Looking good so far. Pittsburgh currently holding a 2-0 lead in the series against Carolina. Same goes for Detroit versus Chicago. Could be history repeating in the finals...

Same goes for Detroit versus Chicago.Could be history repeating in the finals... And it is happening. Pittsburgh vs. Detroit. Will the Pens make it happen and get the revenge for last year's harsh defeat? This final series has classic written all over it. I want to see more of this:
MC Prussian Posted 12 June 2009 Posted 12 June 2009 It's the ultimate finale in the NHL. Game seven of the Stanley Cup final. Can the young and stormy Pens win the first cup for the city in 17 years, erasing the everlasting shadows of Mario Lemieux, Ron Francis, Joe Mullen, Jaromir Jagr, Tom Barrasso, Larry Murphy, Kevin Stevens, Mark Recchi, Phil Bourque, Ulf Samuelsson or Paul Coffey? Or will it be the Red Wings (again) - repeating last year's victory against the same team from the East? This is going to be a night to remember. Stay tuned and stay awake, European NHL fans. It's 1am GMT or 2am for people like me... No sleep 'til the trophy is lifted. Oh, and btw:

Channel 5 have been showing the games but I beleive they're delayed by a day. Bloody Setanta got the rights this year.
MC Prussian Posted 13 June 2009 Posted 13 June 2009 YEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSS!!!! And Pittsburgh has done it!!! 2-1 in the final and decisive game seven against Detroit. Ours the Stanley Cup!
