I went out for it, Was me and my other mates we were pretty much the only ones left in the bar, It was £5 a ticket to get in...I don't think they really made much money it!

Anyway, Get in that british lad :giggle:

Really enjoyed this fight.

Watched it with a couple of mates, I said to them the longer the fight goes on the more it will favour Calzaghe, as it shown. I was astonished to see how fit and just how fast Hopkins was, didn't expect that at all.

I know this is going to rub some people up the wrong way but....

I was supporting Calzaghe but how he won that comfortably according to one Judge is unbelieveable  !!!!

Look at three major things

1)Knock out - Bernard

2)Knocks/cuts - Bernard is literally untouched

3)Gameplan - Calzaghe was wild and at sometimes clumsy, Hopkins out of the two mastered not only the pace of the fight but landed the more telling blows....

The interviewer made the point that Calzaghe was the guy who connected more punches against Bernard then any other competitor yet Hopkins had no cuts nor was he at any point in the fight rocked you've then got to question the power and precision of those blows.Im disapointed because that was probably the last fight of a Legend and its unfortunately ended on a sour note.

As for Joe, though I hope its not the case,if thats the best he can offer against the Big boys he is well and truely fooked...Roy Jones/Antonio Tarver etc must have been watching this thinking what the hell was the big deal.

Not really, Judges descions are based on punches landed.

I could take him.

Who? Masters?

'Ey up boys, we've got a fight on here. What say pre-match entertainment for the next 11-a-side? (Cos if we do it afterwards, Masters'll be dead already :P)

Calzaghe's performance wasn't one of his greatest and I am still surprised he won given the history of American fighters being awarded the win on points in their own country. But an interesting stat was that Joe Calzaghe inflicted more punches on Hopkins than any other fighter ever has and in that probably lies the consistent points he was awarded each round, especially in the closing rounds.

I under-estimated Hopkins, but then again Calzaghe looked all at sea early on and Hopkins experience came in handy. But ultimately Joe's sheer desire and refusal to be beaten got him through it and hat's off to him.

My respect for him has grown if anything, even if I was hoping and expecting him to teach Hopkins a lesson.

Calzaghe's next fight against Jones will be special.

Im glad to hear he says he probably only has one big fight left. Jones would be a great fight but I think Jones would knock him out in front of his hoem fans which wouldnt be the best way to go. Bring Eubank back for one last whipping lol
