1) Mandaric. The buck stops with the boss. He does the hiring, firing and major decision making. Allen? Mistake and he knows it although our League position was not at all alarming when he left. Megson? Mistake. Not only because he was never committed to the job but his appointment was never the visionary one we needed. Holloway? Mistake so far, no question. Despite good funding he has presided over a lamentable run of results. Some of the signings Mandaric approved were beyond any sort of sense and I fail to see how they could have been properly researched. You could write a short book about the errors if you wished and the way they set our season back from the start.

2) Holloway: We were 17th or thereabouts when Holloway and promply gave the players a public vote of no confidence in his total nievity. How he's since managed to steer us down to 22nd is remarkable considering he had licence to build an almost new team. He too has wasted money on some poor value signings but really it's been his tactics, his personal impact, his caution, his ill-considered remarks, his quick casting off of even his own signings, his general lack of noticeable purpose which has disappointed me. By any yardstick our failure to score in 10 games since January smacks of something seriously wrong and is totally indefensible. Especially as he contributed to that by getting rid of one of our major goal sources.

3) The Players. They've clearly suffered from a lack of inspiring leadership but many have performed way below expectations and there's been a so many specific shortcomings like not driving forward in numbers, not attacking the near post, not passing the ball constructively, not scoring an acceptable ratio of goals to shots, poor free-kicks second half of the season etc which are all factors that have contributed to our under-performance.

4) People who prepare the players, whoever they are: So many of the things I've mentioned above should be worked on regularly in training and if they have been, the work has been forgotten. Fringe players have also been allowed to lose match fitness and I can find no excuse for that. The backroom boys have also failed to get the best out of too many first team squad members for whatever reason and the value of the reserve team was negated for a good part of the season by the wasting of playing time on people who had no future at the club and whose shortcomings should have been recognised before they were signed. Our reserve team football MUST be taken more seriously. It can be, as was clearly shown last night.

Putting everything right is going to be a mammoth task but requires the proper people, proper planning and the strength of will to see that planning to fruition. Our turnover of players has been ridiculous and needs to be addressed because having a throughput like a major railway junction is no good for harmony and team spirit, so vital to a successful campaign, nor does it encourage a cohesive team.

Our over reliance on loanees has got to stop too. That too is bad for morale and doesn't help with the development of contracted players. Two, perhaps three well-chosen loanees might be acceptable but we really need management that knows good players, signs good players, gets good players to excel themselves and is brilliant at improving the ones who are up and coming.

Do we have that? It's damn slow to show if we do.

I think its down to the players we DON'T have rather than the ones we do for one.

For instance we always seem to go with the second place option, never go for the real quality option, reminds me of when we were in the Premiership when we could have had Reo-Coker and we got Nalis, then this season we could have had a fair few players in the summer who went to so-called 'lesser' clubs (Unsworth to Burnley, a steady left back and a central defensive cover) I say 'lesser' meaning having less financial backing and ambition as we set out at the start, we are also devoid of leaders and workers which is why I wanted us to sign Norris, nothing flash but someone who will work his bollocks off for the team and provide a couple of goals along the way.

The chairman, as much as I admire him for stepping in and placing his money on the table, has been nothing short of an interferance and an annoyance at times and what he doesn't realise is that this is setting the whole mentality at the club from the top down, when a manager is frightened for his life after a defeat he is bound to make snap decisions and in this case quite often, the wrong ones. This in turn unsettles the team and often due to the poor quality of manager being brought in, the wrong players have been dropped who can turn things around if given a run in the side (Chambers springs to mind).

The fans I don't blame in the slightest, a lot of clubs at the top's fans give worse shit than we do to the managers and the players, I mean in Italy they even follow the players back to their houses and beat them up sometimes so our boys have no excuses on that part, as i've always said, we deserve more credit than we get for turning out in the numbers that we do, home and away, despite having shit thrown at us for the best part of 4 years.

My solution for next season would be for Mandaric to keep Holloway, let him do his job, trust him with his signings (Mistakes are there to be learned from, after all, didn't MON sign Graham Fenton?) stay as much out of the media as possible and if we do return to the limelight, let it be because the Championship want to do us a feature match at the top of the league. We need stability and to almost get to know each other again because the current crop are still very new together and a togetherness will take time to come to fruition, something that sadly Mandaric has to understand, this is not a 3 year job as he is now finding out.
